In today’s video I’m taking a look at the most beautiful towns in Colorado and the prettiest places to visit. The vast Rocky Mountains draw in visitors looking for a laidback vacation with amazing culture and attractions.
Enjoy a jam-packed day in one of the national parks or ski at one of the largest resorts in the country. Whatever you choose you won’t be disappointed as each of these towns offers stunning views and one-of-a-kind scenery.
Some of the towns on this list are lesser known and include some hidden gems. As a local, I go off the tourist path to find some unique and scenic towns to visit and with little tourist crowds.
From skiing and snowboarding in the winter to hiking, and camping in the summer, outdoor activities are a way of life in Colorado. The Centennial State is an ideal travel destination and one of the best places to visit for outdoor pursuits in every season.

CHICKASAW NATIONAL RECREATION AREA | SULPHUR, OKLAHOMA
Day 26 of our road trip we spend about half a day in Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Oklahoma. We didn't realize there was so much history in this area. This park was originally Sulphur Springs Reservation in 1902, with bath houses because in the late 1800's early 1900's people used hot springs to bathe in and drink because they thought they provided healing. 4 years later it became Platt National Park (1906) then in 1976 it was redesignated as a National Recreation area. We viewed a few springs and some man-made waterfalls/dams that the CCC constructed in this park.

The White Sulphur Spring bathhouse is located right on the Suwannee River and we will be diving into its history today. Also, let’s take a tour of Adam’s Country store, an 1800s general store with its original appliances. There is also lots of abandoned stuff and places along the way. There is much ahead.

That is exactly what happened to us during our recent stay at Cooper Lake State Park in Northeast Texas. We went to nearby Sulphur Springs TX to buy groceries. We never expected to find a lively, revitalized town square with lots of great restaurants, shopping and fun things to do.
This week on our Sunday Side Trip, we take you to downtown Sulphur Springs, Texas to share our first impressions of the town and why we will definitely visit again in the future.

Brrrr. The weather has certainly turned as we explore the little town of White Sulphur Spring, MT in a virtual walking tour. The snow was falling and it was wet and sloppy but at least the wind wasn't so bad. We're expecting much colder temperatures this week. This treadmill scenery walk covers nearly all of White Sulphur which is located between Livingston and Great Falls and not far from Showdown Ski Area and the Smith River. We love going up to this town to soak in the hot springs or hit Newland Reservoir. It has a lot of great charm and personality to make up for its smaller size. I hope you enjoy this snowy virtual walking tour of White Sulphur Springs.

Short simple video of my drive through White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. My main reason for venturing off the Interstate was to take a look at the famous Greenbrier Hotel. Since 1778, visitors have traveled to this part of the state to take the waters of the area. Today, The Greenbrier is situated on 11,000 acres of land with 710 guest rooms, 20 restaurants and lounges and 36 retail shops.

Sulphur is the county seat of Murray County, Oklahoma. The area around Sulphur has been noted for its mineral springs, since well before the city was founded late in the 19th century. The city received its name from the presence of sulfur in the water. Tucked in the rolling prairie of cross-timber country, Sulphur, Oklahoma is known as the gateway to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. This area was known to Native Americans as the land of rippling waters due to the mineral waters, streams, lakes and swimming holes crisscrossing the area.

Riding the Amtrak Cardinal from Ashland, Kentucky to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Over my spring break, I drove from my home in North Carolina to visit family in West Virginia and Kentucky. I bought an Amtrak USA Rail Pass and am taking a month-long journey this summer across the US. I mentioned this to my sister and aunt and we decided to take a day trip on the Amtrak Cardinal to visit one of the most popular destinations in West Virginia, the Greenbriar Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
We left from Ashland, KY, where my cousin lives early in the morning. As it turns out, not as early as planned, because the Cardinal was running behind. and was about an hour late coming into Ashland. We rode west through Huntington, Hurricane, St. Albans (my hometown), and Charleston before arriving in Montgomery. We continued on to Gauley Bridge, which is at the confluence of the Gauley and New Rivers, forming the Kanawha (which we had traveled along since around St. Albans). Now, we were traveling along side the New River, and through America's newest national park, the new River Gorge National Park.
Our train was quite delayed, having to make several stops between St. Albans and Gauley Bridge to wait for freight traffic or something blocking the tracks. This put us three hours late getting into White Sulphur Springs. We thought we would only have two hours there, but just before we started our walk from the Greenbriar back to the train station, I got a notice that our return train, the Train 51 Cardinal, was running about 90 minutes behind. This gave us more time to relax around the beautiful Greenbriar Resort.

Join us as we visit the South Sulphur Unit of Cooper Lake State Park near Sulphur Springs TX. One of the newer parks in the Texas State Parks system, Cooper Lake State Park is home to two parks located on either side of Cooper Lake (also known as Jim Chapman Lake). The South Sulphur Unit of Cooper Lake State Park is the larger of the two parks and is home to RV and tent camping, equestrian camping, screened shelters, cabins and day use facilities.
While at Cooper Lake State Park we'll share the hiking trails, campsites, boat ramps, park store and more. This is a fantastic park in North Texas, located only about 90 minutes from Dallas.
