▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Connecticut is rich in history, nature, art, and beauty. There is truly something for everyone. While many people are drawn to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos each year, there is much more in this state. There are several beaches at the shore, state parks and forests throughout the state, and many smaller gardens. Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam is an excellent family destination. So is the Essex Steam Train and River Boat Ride in Essex.
Understand about History of Connecticut.
Connecticut was one of the original 13 colonies of the United States. It was the fifth state to ratify the constitution in 1788. Over the following centuries, the state became a manufacturing center. It supported the war effort during the Civil War and the World Wars. Today, Connecticut is one of the wealthiest states in the union and is the home to many businesses.
Understand about Geography of Connecticut.
The State of Connecticut is divided in half by the Connecticut River, the largest river in New England. The state's general geographic regions can be understood as a set of quadrants, with Hartford, the state's capital, acting as the CenterPoint. Within the immediate vicinity of Hartford are the large towns of Manchester, New Britain, Bristol, Meriden, and Middletown, which have close ties with the capital, and the state's primary airport, Bradley International, 15 miles north of Hartford, in Windsor Locks. Looking beyond the heartland, the state's southeastern part has close ties to New York. It is highly developed and urbanized, including Bridgeport and New Haven and several historically affluent towns such as Stamford, Darien, and Greenwich. To the North of the urban agglomeration can be found the city of Danbury, the gateway to the state's rural northwest, and the manufacturing city of Waterbury. Moving along the shoreline, the state's southeastern part becomes significantly less urbanized than the southwest. It includes many of the state's fine beaches. This region consists of the historically important ports of Mystic, Groton, and New London and the crossroads city of Norwich. The northeastern part of the state, known to locals as the Quiet Corner, is very rural, with few significant population centers, but includes many historic towns, scenic parks, and woodlands. The largest city is Willimantic, in the southern part of the region, with the towns of Putnam and Killingly/Dayville acting as local centers of activity. The University of Connecticut in Storrs can be seen as a part of this region. The Northwestern part of the state is also very rural, especially in the northwestern corner. This region is known for its beautiful natural scenery, particularly hills and highlands and the Housatonic River, attracting visitors and campers from near and far. The region's largest town is Torrington. Several notable towns, such as Kent and New Canaan, are known for their affluent residents. The largest body of water in the state, Candlewood Lake, is in this region, as is the state's highest point, the slope of Mount Frissell (2,379 ft), on the border with Massachusetts.
Overall, the state contains eight counties and 169 towns and cities.
Understand the weather in Connecticut.
Like most of New England, the weather in Connecticut is varied with the seasons. It can be highly unpredictable in the spring and fall months. The weather in Connecticut is generally stable compared to many other parts of the country. Dangers that plague many country regions are not a danger here.
It is recommended to bring clothes for various temperatures when visiting and closely check the weather report. Although there are periods of little or no rain, a raincoat or umbrella are good items to pack. Warm clothes in the winter and light clothes in the summer are also necessary. However, it is recommended to pack a light jacket, even in the summer months.

Graduate Storrs, CT | Our 30-day Tour of the Graduate Hotels from Providence RI to Seattle WA

We are Cindy and Eddie and this is Squeeze the Day.

We live to travel. Before the pandemic, we've been to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and a couple places in the US. The pandemic has changed the way we can travel safely, so now we are looking for ways to do that. We moved out of our apartment and made an old RV our home, giving us a chance to see all of America in a home on wheels.

On April 7, 2021, we lost our home.
Here is a link to that

For the past three months, we’ve been working to restore our ability to travel. On June 9th, we were presented with an opportunity to travel the country again. This time, we’re going to spend 30 days in 30 hotels, and all of them are the 30 Graduate Hotels across the country. We don't have a home, but at least we can travel for the whole month of July. (This video is not sponsored by Graduate Hotels)

How are we able to travel America exploring Graduate Hotels? By taking advantage of something called the Hall Pass. On June 9th, we paid $500 for this Hall Pass which enables us to stay at a different hotel every night for the entire month of July. We will tell you more about it in August when we are done.

An exciting challenge we've decided to try is, we will be attempting to post a new video every day for the month of July. This is the first time we’ve tried anything like this, so bear with us as we learn how to do it. Welcome new subscribers to the channel and thank you to everyone that’s been helping us out with our GoFundMe page. We are working to get back into an RV as soon as possible and your help goes a long way to make that happen.

The first hotel we are going to is in Providence, Rhode Island. We’ve had a long drive through New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts to get to Rhode Island.

Right now we are in Storrs, Connecticut, right on the campus of Connecticut University. It’s only an hour and fifteen minutes from Graduate Providence so we relax and enjoy the trip, even though it’s raining.

As you walk in, off to the right is the reception desk. Don’t miss the Husky right by the front door. At the desk, you can check in as well as ask about renting bicycles and the rest of the amenities here. Take a look around this amazing hotel so you can enjoy its unique creativity and their artistic styles inspired by the students here.

Thanks for joining us. Make sure you hit the like button, subscribe and ring the bell for notifications so you can keep following along as we continue our adventures.. And remember as always Squeeze the Day and be well

We wanted to let everyone know that we are able to make these videos so well due to the use of a DJI Osmo stabilizer. And it was edited using Adobe Premier Pro on an HP Spectre laptop. We’ve provided links below to anyone interested in getting the Osmo or computer for themselves. These are great tools to help make any video better.

That concludes this trip, however there are many more to follow. Make sure you like and subscribe as well as select the notifications bell so you can keep up with us. We would also love to hear your thoughts on the video so go ahead and leave a comment below. And as always, Squeeze the Day!!!

Mystic, Connecticut - a short visit to a charming town - April 2023

4 of 40 Birthday Experiences! April 2023 - We spent a long weekend in Mystic, Connecticut!

One of the wonderful things of living in NYC - is the ability to get to places on the train. We hopped on Amtrak and a few hours later - we stepped off for a half mile walk into the historic district of Mystic. We stayed at the fabulous Whaler’s Inn:

We’ve walked by this hotel every time we’ve stayed in Mystic - but seem to always plan our trip on a whim and it’s usually booked. This time we planned early enough - and it was so worth it. The location is second to none, we had a wonderful view of the bay, the restaurant is amazing, the “ocean rustic” decor is so cozy after a full day walking around, and even the free cookies are delish!

We wore ourselves out heavily in these 48 hours. We didn’t have a car (and honestly don’t need it - if we want to leave the town - we can just uber. We have previously to wineries and bars - and this time to a brewery).

We spent time visiting the Mystic Aquarium. It’s a bit of a walk - but the walk is extremely pretty, taking you past a cemetery and some historic homes, and even a little marsh that we found while searching for a free little library.

The aquarium is a bit overpriced for the size - but there is a lot to do - and they do a lot of focus on research and conservation, which we are more than happy to pay more for. The aquarium is home to Beluga Whales, Penguins, Sea Lions, and more - the Beluga Whales are the main reason that we go though. They are curious, friendly, and incredibly smart - and I’ve never seen anything like them. They win me over every time and Rick has to pull me away from them when it’s time to go home.

We spent hours at the Historic Mystic Seaport Museum. We’ve been once before but didn’t spend much time and very little was open. But this time, we were able to see a few examples of trade and how different things in the 18th and early 19th century would have worked in a small port town, as well as explore a historic whaling ship. I especially loved the Fish and Forrest exhibit, full of photographs from Corey Wheeler Forrest - a third generation commercial fisherman and fish dealer in Rhode Island… working with her family - the last trap fishing operation in southern New England.

We did our own exploring in Mystic - a little shopping, a stop in at the bookstore to get some more of my novels stocked, a visit to a Free Little Library to drop off a copy of “John Doe”, up to see the church, and some wondering to find a few corners of town we hadn’t been to before. See comments for our restaurant / bar recommendations!

-----------------------------------------------

What started as 40 from august to august has expanded to the start of 2023 to August 2024. Due to other people planning things that we want to join… before August 2023. This is the celebration of “omg Kassie survived 40 years - we never thought it would happen.” Maybe the next 40, I’ll be more careful so it won’t be so surprising. 40 “experiences” have to be #1 unique, #2 require the day and night in the location to count, #3 that’s it.

-----------------------------------------------

Originally from Iowa (Kassie) and Kansas (Rick), we met in Kansas in 2005 and immediately found that we had so much in common - including our desire to someday see the world. We now live in NYC and quickly started catching up on travel after our first (just us) international trip to Iceland in 2015. We decided to start making videos for us and our family/friends to track our travels. Kassie is in Marketing, an Author (see her poetry + author videos), and Puppet Creator. Rick is an Engineer and Script Writer (see our current and coming puppet movies!)

Connecticut is the southernmost state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. As of the 2010 Census, Connecticut features the highest per-capita income, Human Development Index (0.962), and median household income in the United States.[ Connecticut is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and Long Island Sound to the south. Its capital city is Hartford, and its most populous city is Bridgeport. Although Connecticut is technically part of New England, it is often grouped along with New York and New Jersey as the Tri-state area. The state is named for the Connecticut River, a major U.S. river that approximately bisects the state. The word Connecticut is derived from various anglicized spellings of an Algonquian word for long tidal river.
