00:11 Grève de Lecq beach is on the boarder of the parishes of St. Mary and St. Ouen. Its golden sand, easy access and great facilities make it the most popular beach on Jersey's north coast.

00:37 Archirondel is a small pebble beach tucked away down a little lane in the north-eastern corner of the island. The bay faces East, making it perfect for a swim at sunrise. One of its most recognisable features is the Martello Tower which was originally built for artillery soldiers and has now been refurbished into holiday accommodation.

01:02 Heading South around the coast the next bay you come to is Anne Port, another pebbly beach popular in the early morning for those heading into the water. At the southern end of the bay is a rock face known as Geoffrey's Leap where legend has it criminals were executed by being thrown into the sea.

01:27 Officially named the Royal Bay of Grouville by Queen Victoria, this beach is more commonly known by locals as 'Long Beach'. With Mont Orgueil Castle at the Northern end it runs down the east coast of Jersey. Easy access and shallow water make it great for swimming although at low tide there's a long walk to the sea due to large tides.

02:02 At the Western end of the south coast is Portelet bay, with golden sand and clear shallow waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Portelet isn't easily accessible, but the adventurous are rewarded with amazing views! The most recognisable aspect of the bay is Janvrin's Tomb where a local sea captain, who's ship returned carrying the plague, is laid to rest having not been allowed to return to shore.

02:40 Ouaisne is a sheltered beach where you can swim safely. Kismet Cabana serves street food with live music in the summer. This area has historic links with smuggling and the pub in the bay is called the Old Smugglers Inn.

03:05 The island's most recognisable and popular beach is St. Brelade's Bay, with its white sand, safe, clear waters and palm-fringed promenade, it was voted in the top three best UK beaches on TripAdvisor. Its shallow waters make this beach the ideal place for swimming and water-sports.

03:48 Beauport Bay is hidden just around the headland to the West of St. Brelade's but once you're there, it feels a whole world away. Getting there is an adventure in itself, down a steep pathway and steps from the small car park at the top but the climb down (and back up again afterwards) is definitely worth it. A strip of golden sand backs onto a pebble bank and the area directly behind the beach is a nature reserve. The crystal clear water here is perfect for swimming and a popular spot for boats. The lack of facilities here all add to the charm!

04:30 St. Ouen's Bay is the longest beach in Jersey and spans almost the entire west coast. With miles of clean white sand there's plenty of space for everyone. The rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean make this the best spot for surfing in Jersey and it even boasts one of the oldest surfing clubs in Europe. With its westerly aspect St. Ouen's is the place to be at sunset to relax and watch the sky turn golden over Corbiere lighthouse and La Rocco Tower.

05:20 Plémont, in the north west corner of the Island, is shouldered by high cliffs which house the Jersey's largest caves. The beach is hidden entirely by the sea at high tide and there's only a small window to enjoy golden sand and clean rock pools before the sea returns. It's accessed by a long staircase.

Alderney is the northernmost of the inhabited Channel Islands. It is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown dependency. It is 3 miles (5 km) long and 1 1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) wide. The area is 3 square miles (8 km2), making it the third-largest island of the Channel Islands, and the second largest in the Bailiwick. It is around 10 miles (15 km) from the west of La Hague on the Cotentin Peninsula, Normandy, in France, 20 miles (30 km) from the north-east of Guernsey and 60 miles (100 km) from the south coast of Great Britain. It is the closest of the Channel Islands to both France and the United Kingdom. It is separated from Cap de la Hague by the dangerous Alderney Race (French: Raz Blanchard).
As of April 2013, the island had a population of 1,903; natives are traditionally nicknamed vaques after the cows, or else lapins after the many rabbits seen in the island. Formally, they are known as Ridunians, from the Latin Riduna. The only parish of Alderney is the parish of St Anne, which covers the whole island.
The main town, St Anne, historically known as La Ville (The Town), is often referred to as St Anne's by visitors and incomers, but rarely by locals (who, in normal conversation, still most frequently refer to the area centred on Victoria Street simply as Town). The town's High Street, which formerly had a small handful of shops, is now almost entirely residential, forming a T-junction with Victoria St at its highest point. The town area features an imposing church and an unevenly cobbled main street: Victoria Street (Rue Grosnez – the English name being adopted on the visit of Queen Victoria in 1854). There are a primary school, a secondary school, a post office, and hotels, as well as restaurants, banks and shops. Other settlements include Braye, Crabby, Longis, Mannez, La Banquage and Newtown.
Alderney shares its prehistory with the other islands in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, becoming an island in the Neolithic period as the waters of the Channel rose. Formerly rich in dolmens, like the other Channel Islands, Alderney with its heritage of megaliths has suffered through the large-scale military constructions of the 19th century and also by the Germans during the World War II occupation, who left the remains at Les Pourciaux unrecognisable as dolmens. A cist survives near Fort Tourgis, and Longis Common has remains of an Iron Age site. There are traces of Roman occupation
Alderney is served by Alderney Airport. There are several flights each day from Southampton and Guernsey, with links to many parts of the United Kingdom and Europe. Aurigny serves the island with Dornier Do 228s. Boats sail regularly between the island and France, and to the other Channel Islands. A high-speed passenger ferry is operated in summer by to Diélette in the commune of Flamanville, Manche in France, and to St Peter Port, Guernsey.

The small island of Alderney measures just 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, and yet it is absolutely TEEMING with fascinating history, beautiful wildlife, and incredible views. As the best-hidden island in the Channel Islands, we didn't know what to expect in our weekend break in Alderney, however, this tiny island soon turned into one of our favourite places in the world.

Alderney: from Nazi Concentration Camp to Channel Island Gem
Alderney? What do you want to go there for?! It's just 2000 drunk people clinging to a rock! That's what I was told by friends when I revealed I was off to Alderney for three days. I discovered that, whilst partly true, this beautiful island, the third largest of the channel islands, is so much more than that.
Join me as I discover some of the horrifying history, and contemporary highlights of tis truly beautiful island, the third largest of the Channel Islands and second largest in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
We start in the east of the island at the Mannez Lighthouse (I call it Quesnard Lighthouse in the video, sorry if that's wrong!), discover the delights of the Alderney railway on a non-service day, and take a look around a Nazi mp3 strategic lookout point. We then move on to a proposal to buy one of Alderney's council houses, explore the mighty Arsenal ground, home to Alderney's sports teams, before heading to Braye Bay and St. Anne, the island's bustling capital. Oh an of course, I try a beer.
Thanks to everybody who I met in Alderney for making me so welcome, I loved my visit and can't wait to come back! It's my favourite Channel Island so far, just don't tell my fellow Guerns ;)

In this episode, we set off to the Channel Islands.
The first stop is Alderney. It is a beautiful small island. There are 1200 local people in Saint Anne. And it is super hot, at least in the summertime. No matter where you live, in Uk or in Normandy, you will immediately fall in love with this hot sunny weather with the white sand beach. It has tourists from all over the world during the summer. Don't forget to have the authentic fish and chips then. You can do mooring and go to the beach by dinghy, and make sure the dinghy has been well placed cause the tide comes up really fast...You can also have a nice walk in the town center, quiet and peaceful.
After Alderney, we went to Guernsey. Wow, such a place just like our modern city, but with a super beautiful sea view of course.
I have to mention the anti-seasickness medicine here, it is super useful and helpful. Marks Spenser, the famous English chain supermarket, is just opposite to the port, and it is so convenient. I bought a lot of food and water, good quality and fair price.
Alderney is a British Crown dependency, which means self-governing dependency under a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. Well here supermarkets are selling in pounds and all the cars drive from the left side. When you get across the road, if you don't know which is the right side to watch, then watch both sides!
All these channel islands they produce different stuff and exchange with each other. By example, you may find the Alderney pork, Guernsey eggs and beef, and the vegetable from Jersey.

There is not much wind to sail from from Guernsey to Alderney. The rocks around Alderney are full with gannets. The island is beautifull for walking.

De Kanaaleilanden liggen niet ver van de kust van Normandië, dichter bij Frankrijk dan bij Engeland. Toch spreken ze er Engels, rijden ze links en betaal je er met Britse ponden! De cultuur is een unieke mix van Franse en Engelse invloeden, die nog het sterkst tot uiting komt in de heerlijke keuken: een ideale vakantiebestemming voor mensen die van lekker eten houden.
Langs de kust van Guernsey worden spectaculaire, met kleurige bloemen begroeide kliffen afgewisseld met kleine baaien en zandstranden. De ruigheid van de kust staat in scherp contrast met de lieflijkheid van het glooiende binnenland, waar zeldzame orchideeën in het wild voorkomen.
De gezellige hoofdstad van Guernsey is St. Peter Port. Het stadje is in de 11e eeuw ontstaan en is gezellig en knus met nauwe, steile klinkerstraatjes die aflopen naar de haven. Daar varen de veerboten, vissersboten en plezierjachten af en aan. Het robuuste Castle Cornet is een ‘must’, al is het alleen maar om de prachtige tuinen binnen de kasteelmuren te bewonderen.

A knitting episode | 10+ sweaters I made in 2022 + a wip
To whom it may concern :-) This is doubtless not a video for everyone - but it may be interesting for any knitters out there. And that's why I made it; to contribute a little to a community whose videos I've devoured and been inspired by lately. I speak relatively fast in it (I realized after the fact) because I was so eager to talk about all of these finished garments in less than an hour's time, and therefore it probably isn't, as such, a relaxing video, which I know many of you are used to. I will of course get back to those videos again very soon! I suspect it’s still a low key kind of video, with quiet background music, which is not usual for a knitting video. Well, it had to be my kind of knitting video - so...
The reason why I try on all the garments outside at the end is that it was getting to dark inside to film at that point (the joy of a Nordic November).

In this episode of Destination Michigan, we’ll be taking a dive into what it’s like to be a Michigan farmer. In total, over 50,000 farms are scattered across Michigan growing and cultivating around 300 different products. That makes Michigan one of the most agriculturally diverse states in the nation. Though methods of farming have undoubtedly changed over the years, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that it’s a way of life the requires patience, knowledge, and a lot of hard work.
We’ll be visiting Winters Calico Fields Farm (a Michigan Sesquicentennial Farm) in the town of Grand Ledge, Guernsey Farms Dairy in Northville, Walnutdale Farms in Wayland, as well as the Cadillac Farmers Market.
