????OUR HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS IN EACH SPOT
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
11. Santiago de Compostela. Hotel Pazo de Altamira is a lovely, modern hotel within a gorgeous old Galician stone building. And it’s right opposite the fabulous market!

10. Jerez de la Frontera. Definitely try and stay at the famous Hotel Casa Grande - a big old mansion with a gorgeous rooftop terrace for drinks -

9. Vera Valley. I would suggest staying in the village Valverde de la Vera and my pick is the cosy and rustic La Picota:

8. Cadaqués. I love Tramantua Hotel, a white-washed gem run by a husband and wife team… service is fantastic, and it’s right in the old city, plus near the beach:

7. Cáceres. We stayed at the budget but good Hotel Iberia Plaza Mayor with views of the square): If you want to stay IN the old city though, the Parador here is a 14th century palace - the full Caceres medieval dream!

6. Oviedo. Prices in Northern Spain are often cheaper, so you can happily get a great hotel here without spending a lot. Check out the excellent Barceló Oviedo Cervantes:

5. Zahara de los Atunes. Either go with Hotel Avenida Playa (simple, clean, and right off the beach - or the slightly more chic Hotel Doña Lola -

4. Las Alpujarras. Casa Rural la Fragua is a gorgeous little tucked away whitewashed apartment in Capileira (either stay here or in Pampaneira). This place is perfect for exploring the villages around the area.

3. El Rocío. I love Hotel La Malvasía with its old-world luxury, the fact it’s only a 5-minutes walk from the famous Santa María del Rocío church and they also have a terrace which is perfect for sunsets.

2. Mejorada del Campo.
Bus info: (take the bus from Conde de Casal). Don’t spend the night there. It’s a day trip. But my favourite Madrid hotels are below (in descending price order):

Pestana Plaza Mayor (right on Plaza Mayor and with a pool) -
Gran Hotel Inglés -
The Pavilions -
Vincci The Mint -
7 Islas -

1. Cádiz. Right in the old town, I love the wonderful Hotel Boutique Convento Cádiz, housed in a renovated 17th century monastery:

MORE ABOUT THIS VIDEO ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

Seville is possibly the best city in Spain for eating tapas. Whether you’re after modern tapas, or more traditional dishes, this city is simply mouthwatering. Perhaps the best place to eat in Spain!

I was in town for a Devour Tours get-together and on my last day - with a broken voice! - I decided to hit the bars. So, where did we go?

1. First we hit Casa Morales. The second oldest still-running bar in the city. It opened in the mid 19th century, and is still going strong. Here we started (breakfasted!) fino sherry, some excellent manchego cheese and a delicious montadito of bacalao (salt-cold) on bread with salmorejo. And, of course, we admired the gorgeous huge tinajas (wine vats). This place is unforgettable.

2. Next it was time for some more substantial cooked traditional tapas. So we headed to Bodeguita Romero, where they do killer versions of some of the city’s most classic dishes. First I tried the pringá, which is a fabulous sandwich of pork, blood sausage and other meat. Then I tried their carrillada (pork cheek) which literally melts in your mouth like marshmallow.

3. Next we went modern, heading to new favourite Palo Cortao. If you love sherry, this is the place for you. They have 80 sherries by the glass. And the food is also fantastic. From the false tomato, to the mackerel on sweet peas to the phenomenal cheese plate… this spot is definitely one of my new favourites.

4. Time to go totally off the beaten path. Mateo Ruiz is a heaving old joint that’s well-known for its excellent fried bacalao and €1 wine… the place was packed, and the atmosphere incredible.

5. Finally we hit La Tienda de la Azotea, and fantastic little joint that serves delicious and imaginative modern tapas and has an excellent wine list. I had an amazing almadraba tuna taco, some delicious octopus in a mole verde and some fantastic red wine from the Seville region.

Well stuffed… I rolled home, and back to Madrid… and to Yoly. I hope you liked the video!

LAS SETAS DE SEVILLA ????????SEVILLE SPAIN ????????Top places to visit in Seville

Las Setas de Sevilla

Las Setas(mushrooms) is just one of the main attractions in Seville and one of the most visited monuments in the city. It was originally referred to as Metropol Parasol but popularly known as Las Setas because of its mushroom-shaped structures.

It is the largest wooden structure in the world which was designed by Jürgen Mayer, the winner in the International Contest of Ideas Encarnación de Sevilla. You can find this modern huge structure in Plaza de La Encarnación, an area with plenty of bars and restaurants, cafeterias and terraces that you will surely enjoy.

This architecture has different levels and each level has different amazing things to offer. First is the basement where you can find the Antiquarium Museum which displays the archaeological remains. Second is the ground level where Mercado de la Encarnación is currently located. It is a market with food stalls selling fresh fruits and vegetables, seafoods, meat, jamon, cheeses and more. Third is under the parasol, it is a square designed to host events on different occasions. And last, inside the parasol which is the upper level, is a bunch of walkways and staircases that look like you are floating in the cloud. You will find here the viewpoint where you can have a 360 view of the city of Seville that is really breathtaking. You will get some of the best pictures of Seville from here. Don't miss one of the most spectacular tourists attraction in Seville.

Location : Plaza. de la Encarnación Seville

Tickets: Entrance tickets El Mirador 3 €

You can book your tickets through their website ( or directly in their ticketing office.

MORE INFO ABOUT THE VIDEO ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Spain is a complex country! It’s also a pretty easy going one. But there are certain things that you just don’t want to get wrong. And here they are!

11. Don’t go OTT on please and thank you.
In Spanish we just don’t use the words as much. We are more likely to work ‘please’ and ’thank you’ into the tone of how we speak, or by tweaking the words (such as adding “ito” to the end of a word).

10. Don’t put bread on your plate.
In Spain, you always leave your bread beside your plate on the table. It sites beside your cutlery, because it kind of is a piece of cutlery.

9. Don’t eat with your hand under the table.
I grew up with no elbows on the table. But here in Spain we also have the rule that you should have your hands above the table at all times. Because you might have a knife??

8. Don’t offer guests a beer at 5pm
Because we eat lunch and dinner later, beer o’clock is usually about 8pm… not 5pm.

7. Don’t help with the dishes after parties.
It’s just not something that’s done here. At the end of a party or dinner party, you might help tidy up slightly, but you don’t help do the dishes.

6. Don’t be a ‘pesado’ in social situations.
Chill out! Don’t ask people what their job is straight away when you meet them in a social setting and don’t expect people to cut to the chase when telling a story - we take our time here!

5. Don’t misinterpret loud conversations.
When Yoly speaks with her mother on the phone, it can get heated. But they’re not arguing - it’s just that conversations here often sound more intense.

4. Don’t generalise about Spain.
This is a highly regional country. So don’t assume that every region of Spain has the same language, customs or food.

3. Don’t call Catalan a dialect of Spanish.
Catalan is its own language - and don’t get that wrong (especially when speaking to a Catalan)

2. Don’t used ‘usted’ willy nilly.
Here in Spain we’re pretty informal and so don’t use “usted” unless we’re speaking with older people or in very formal situations.

1. Don’t mention the civil war casually.
The Spanish civil war and the dictatorship is a really complex topic, and still an open wound in Spain. So wait until you know someone pretty well before diving into the topic.

It was once said that Spain is different. Well, it's no different from any other country, but like visiting any new country, when you don't know how the basic things work, it can be a challenge to get around and have a rich experience. So I decided to make a video which answers so many of the basic questions people have when they visit Spain. Here are some of the questions I answer:
- When do the shops open in Spain
- When do the tapas bars open in Spain
- When do the restaurants open in Spain
- What are tapas? How does tapas work?
- Do you tip in Spain?
- Do Spaniards take a siesta?
- Do people speak English in Spain?
- Is there bullfighting in Spain? Should I see a bullfight in Spain?
- How should I travel around Spain?
- How do people greet in Spain?

Welcome to a new travel vlog from Ronda, Spain! Today, I took a day trip to Ronda, Spain to explore this charming town and share with you a Ronda, Spain walking tour. In this Ronda Spain Vlog I will show you the charming old town of Ronda, the impressive El Tajo Gorge, and even visit the new city of Ronda Spain!

To start off the day, I climbed the main church in Ronda, the Santa Maria Church (Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor) for incredible views of the city. From the top of the church, you can see all of the beautiful white washed homes with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. After visiting the top of the Santa Maria Church, I made my way to the Old Bridge, also called Puente Viejo. The Old Bridge is a beautiful stone bridge that is the perfect spot for a good picture!

Next up on my Ronda Spain walking tour, I walk over the New Bridge (Puente Nuevo) and hike down for amazing views of the El Tajo Gorge. The El Tajo Gorge is over 100 meters, or over 300 feet deep, and hiking down the gorge is an absolute must on your day trip to Ronda Spain. As you begin hiking down the El Tajo Gorge, you will be rewarded with amazing views of the New Bridge (Puente Nuevo) of Ronda, Spain. The New Bridge is absolutely spectacular, with beautiful arches and even a waterfall at the bottom! I had to showcase the beautiful views of the New Bridge in my Ronda Spain Vlog!

Next up on my Ronda Spain walking tour, I walk across the new bridge, which connects the old city and the new city. My next stop on my Ronda Spain Vlog was to visit the Plaza Del Socorro in the new town. The Plaza del Socorro is a beautiful plaza in the center of Ronda’s new town, lined with tons of charming cafes and restaurants. Next on my day trip to Ronda Spain, I walk just a few minutes away to sip a coffee on a rooftop hotel overlooking the Plaza de Toros. The Plaza de Toros in Ronda, Spain is absolutely massive and is a beautiful site to see!

After visiting the Plaza de Toros, I head to Alameda del Tajo Park, which is a calm, green park, perfect to escape the sun and relax a bit. At one end of the park you have incredible views of the mountains surrounding Ronda, Spain. My last stop on my Ronda Spain Vlog was to walk through the main pedestrian street in Ronda called Calle Espinel. I end my Ronda Spain walking tour strolling Calle Espinel, window shopping and taking in all of the sights.

I hope you enjoyed my Ronda Spain walking tour and my day trip to Ronda! Ronda is a beautiful city with tons of nature and a tranquil and charming old town!

Sevilla

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2004 | Sevilla is the flamboyant city of Carmen and Don Juan, where bullfighting is still politically correct and little girls dream of growing up to become flamenco dancers. Sevilla has soul — and we feel it in its lacy Moorish palace, massive cathedral, lavish royal tombs, labyrinthine Jewish quarter, and its people-filled streets. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #sevilla
