I'm back after a long hiatus from YouTube to bring you S2 E1 of Moments in Korea: My Life in Seosan!
As you can see, I'm trying out a new style of video. Partly because I no longer have my Adobe collection because I needed to save money so I cancelled my subscription and partly because this way of editing is a lot easier and is more fun, thus allowing me to get back into sharing cool videos. I had so much stuff filmed over the past year but I never got around to editing it all, so I'm just going to start fresh.

Moments in Korea S1E10: Hidden Gems of Korea - Seosan Tower
Hey guys! So I decided to go on an adventure around Seosan and I ended up at Seosan Tower! This place is pretty awesome and I'm for sure going to be doing more videos on this mountain as it's rather large ad there are lots of stuff to do. That and I'd like to go at all times of the year, as well as when it's not as… well… polluted ahaaa.
Anyway, if you ever find yourself in Korea, do yourself a favour and travel to Seosan and check out it's wonderful scenery.

Seosan is a city in South Chungcheong Province
Seosan City is located in the Taean Peninsula, which is projected in the northwestern part of South Chungcheong Province. As a result of frequent contact with China, it played an advanced role in the import of Chinese culture.

It is located on the northwest corner of South Korea. The total area is 739.48 square kilometers and the total population is 167,611 (as of December 2014). The main attractions are Haemieupseong, Gaesimsa Temple, and the representative food is Kkochgejang(*crab preserved in soy sauce).

☞ About 'Haemieupseong Fortress' (서산 해미읍성)
Haemieupseong Fortress or Haemi Castle is a representative fortress from the Joseon period. ‘Eupseong’ means a flat fortress surrounding the city area, such as Gochangeupseong Fortress, and Nakaneupseong Fortress. Haemieupseong Fortress was established in 1491 during the 22nd year of King Seongjong. Its circumference is approximately 1.9km, the height is 5m, and total area is 196,381m², making it a huge fortress. Through restoration and purification projects, its old image has been restored as a historic park and it is famous as a site of Catholic martyrs' in the late Joseon era.
Hoya Tree (locust tree) is 300 year-old tree located at the entrance of the prison. Catholics were hung from the tree branches by their hair for torturing. Traces of steel wires still remain.

Journey to Chungcheongnam-do Province - Land Welcoming the Morning
The last battle at Sabiseong Fortress was the conclusion to 700 years of Baekje’s history. Sabi, meaning “dawn” in Korean, is now called Buyeo, which means “the morning has come.” Just like its changed name, morning always comes after the dawn; though the ancient kingdom fell and became a part of history, Buyeo still preserves its past and heritage. Stepping outside the asphalt-covered cities, Chungcheongnam-do Province offers a connection to the soil that breathes with life.

Munsusa Temple, Seosan, Walking Around Korea
Munsusa Geungnakbojeon Temple 서산 문수사 극락보전 was probably built in the Goryeo Dynasty during the reign of King Chungmok 고려 충목. It is located in Seosan, South Chungcheong province in South Korea. It’s quite isolated in the middle of some beautiful green hills in the countryside. It’s charming and extremely peaceful. It’s the perfect place to experience all Korean seasons.
Most buildings were burnt down during the Joseon Dynasty and then rebuilt soon after. A written prayer was found that was dated from 1346. There’s a national treasure that was found here, no. 1572, the Costume relics of Gilt-bronze Seated Amitabha Buddha Statue 문수사 금동여래좌상 복장 유물. The original statue was stolen, but soon rebuilt, and only the costume relics are left from that era. Over 600 items were discovered along the clothing like prayers, rice and barley. They are important in studying dyeing and traditional costumes from late Goryeo. Some costumes had inscriptions on them, written in Hanja / Chinese characters. They are also important to historians in understanding the Korean language from that era.
