Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site

First visit of Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site, Texas.
We toured the Fate Bell tour and then hiked half of the canyon rim trail. We visited points of interest 2-5 on this trip to Seminole Canyon.
Stories in Stone
Early canyon dwellers left clues to their lives on the stone walls of Seminole Canyon. Their pictographs tell stories that we try to understand today. Come see this special place for yourself; we’re along the Rio Grande near Del Rio.
Things to Do
Ancient rock art will draw you here. But you’ll find other things to do as well: Camp, hike, mountain bike, geocache and study history and nature.
Camp at one of our 46 campsites. These range from primitive drive-up sites to sites with water and electricity, all with restrooms and showers nearby.
Hike and bike to the Rio Grande or along the Seminole Canyon rim. The park has almost 10 miles of trails. Note: You may only hike in the canyon area with a guide, but you can access all other trails on your own.

10 Best Roadside Attractions Near Orlando | Florida Roadside Attractions
Orlando is famous for its theme parks and family-friendly attractions. But if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path, consider checking out a few of the area's best roadside attractions.
In the 1920s and 30s as Florida's population grew and more people began to travel by car, a number of new roadside attractions sprung up along the state's highways. These oddball places broke up the long journey and allowed visitors to see something interesting.
Cypress Gardens made its debut in the mid 1930s, becoming famous for its water ski shows. By the end of the decade, Marineland had opened south of St. Augustine. This oceanside marine park was one of the first places in the world where visitors could swim with dolphins.
New quirky attractions continued to spring up around the state throughout the 50s and 60s as Florida’s tourism industry kept growing. But the rise of the modern theme park in the 70s and 80s marked the beginning of the end for many of the smaller attractions. They just weren’t able to keep up with the times and travelers would pass them by on the way to Disney,.
Fortunately for those nostalgic for a simpler time, a surprising number of classic roadside attractions are still open and continue to attract visitors from all over the world.
On this episode, we begin a new series highlighting the best roadside attractions near Orlando. The first installment covers everything from vibrant gardens and deep springs to vintage landmarks and even some newer places you can’t miss.

In this video, we give a walking tour of Seminole Canyon State Park and show you the best campsites. We take you with us as we explore Seminole Canyon State Park, Seminole Canyon, and the scenic wonderland along the Rio Grande River all within Seminole Canyon State Park. T-Mobile cellular service clocked in at 17.7 Mbps download speed and 0.17 Mbps upload speed. A speed test failed for AT&T with one bar of service. There was no Verizon cellular service at this location.

On our Nov 2017 RV trip to Big Bend we paid a brief visit to the very unique Seminole Canyon State Park. This is one very unique State Park! Located in the heart of the desert just a few miles from the Rio Grand River this park features rock art that is well over 10K years old. In this video I ride through Seminole Canyon State Park on my high speed mobility scooter. Paynes Creek Historical State Park in Florida// a site from the Seminole Wars in the 1800s

In today's video, we spend an afternoon at Paynes Creek Historical State Park in Bowling Green Florida. It was a site of an outpost of the US military to act as a barrier from the Seminole Tribe. The outpost is no longer standing, but you can visit the original Location. At the visitor center, you can learn about the outpost, the Seminole Wars and see artifacts from the era. There are hiking trails you can take down to Paynes Creek and the surrounding area. The park also has a picnic area, that we didn't use. WE did drive down to the canoe launch to check out what the Peace River looks like in the area.
