Aachen is a spa city near Germany’s borders with Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen Cathedral was founded around 800 A.D. and a Gothic chancel was added later.
Its Domschatzkammer (treasury) has medieval artifacts including the shrine of Charlemagne, who was buried here in 814 A.D. Nearby is the baroque town hall, Aachener Rathaus, with 19th-century frescoes. Sulfurous water fills the fountains of Elisenbrunnen.

Aachen in 5 minutes ???? Aachen Cathedral, Printen & Tri-border area
Aachen is one of our top 10 cities in Germany and worth a visit. Aachen Cathedral is world-famous. And so are the tasty Printen. Aachen is located at the border triangle of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Because of this location, you can feel Europe everywhere you go. We are theTravellers and show you Aachen in 5 minutes.
We start our Aachen tour at the city hall. It's worth taking a look inside. We continue to the Centre Charlemange city museum. On the way through the old town we eat some Printen. We pass the Elisenbrunnen - another landmark of Aachen. A little further out of town is the Lousberg. From here you have a view of the city from above.
If you're in Aachen for the weekend or even longer, e.g. for ERASMUS at rwth Aachen, it's worth taking a day trip to Monschau and the border triangle.

Our visit to Aachen, Germany
Here we have a video we have put together from our trip to Aachen in Germany. This pretty little German city is on the border with the Netherlands & Belgium, and is home to one of UNESCO's first World Heritage Sites - it's Cathedral.

Driving Germany: B266 & B258 Schleiden - Aachen - 4k scenic drive through The Eifel National Park
The video presents a scenic drive through the Eifel mountains, in the border area between Germany and Belgium. We are starting in the pictuoresque town of Schleiden, and finish the drive in the important city of Aachen, the former capital of The Holy Roman Empire. We are crossing the Eifel National Park and climb at the begining of the drive to the high plateau, situated at about 600m altitude, before descending to Aachen, through an interesting landscape, a good mix of forests and wide-open areas. The video shows a scenic drive through the central part of The Eifel mountains, from Stadtkyll to Schleiden. We are crossing a nice hilly landscape, a beautiful mix of forests and wide-open areas. The road follows on a long section the german-belgian border and offers great views to the surrounding areas, as it is mostly build quite high on the hills. Enjoy!

- Geschichte und Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt Schleiden am Nationalpark Eifel. Sie gehört zum Kreis Euskirchen und hat heute mit seinen Ortsteilen knapp 14000 Einwohner. Die große Burg in Schleiden wurde erstmals 1198 erwähnt, später baute die Schleidener-Aremberger Linie die mittelalterliche Burg ansatzweise zu einem repräsentativen barocken Schloss um. Die Schloßkirche wurde 1230 als Burgkapelle geweiht und von der Linie Manderscheid-Schleiden als spätgotische dreischiffige Kirche ausgebaut.

Vogelsang Internationaler Platz -
Seit 2016 ist in der ehemaligen NS-Ordensburg Vogelsang das neue Forum Vogelsang IP (Internationaler Platz) beheimatet. Aus dem historischen Zentralbau der 100 ha großen denkmalgeschützten Anlage Vogelsang ist mit viel Aufwand ein modernes, 12.500 m² umfassendes Besucher- und Ausstellungszentrum geworden.
Herzstücke des Projektes sind neben dem 1.800 m² großen Besucherzentrum zwei große Ausstellungen.
In der Daueraustellung der NS-Dokumentation Vogelsang mit dem Titel „Herrenmensch – NS-Ordensburgen zwischen Faszination und Verbrechen“ wird auf 800 m² aus verschiedenen Perspektiven der historische Ort Vogelsang vermittelt.
Die Dauerausstellung „Wildnis(t)räume“ ist die zentrale Anlaufstelle des seit 2004 bestehenden einzigen Nationalparks in NRW, dem Nationalpark Eifel. Sie ergänzt mit vielfältigen Programmen die Bildungs- und Erlebnislandschaft des Nationalparks Eifel um eine weitere interessante Komponente.

Gemünder Ferienpark Salzberg Timeshare Thing Near Schleiden (2/5/11)
Stayed in the place for a week in a town called Gemünd. It's in the Nationalpark Eifel, and about halfway between Köln and Aachen. Nice town.
