One of the MOST PICTURESQUE Cities along the Danube River | PASSAU, GERMANY
Passau is a picturesque city located in the South Eastern part of Germany in the state of Bavaria. The city borders Austria and the state capitol Munich is about a 2 hour drive away.
We’ll start the city tour at the Veste Oberhaus, a 13th century fortress located atop a hill just north of the Danube river.
We’ll continue to the Pilgrimage church of Mariahilf located in the Innstadt, just south of the river Inn. Afterwards, I’ll take you on a walking tour loop through the Innstadt and crossing over a bridge above the Inn river.
Next we’ll explore the city center which comprises the Neumarkt and Altstadt, which is the old town known for its baroque architecture, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral featuring one of the biggest organs in the world.
At the eastern tip of Old town is where the river Danube is joined by the Inn from the south and Ilz from the north giving Passau its Nickname Drei-Fluesse-Stadt which means “City of Three Rivers”.
At the end of the tour we’ll return to Veste Oberhaus for spectacular nighttime views of the city.

Linz: kreative Graffiti-Kunst
Linz hat sich von der Industrie- zur Kulturstadt gewandelt. Im Industriehafen kommt beides zusammen: Graffiti-Künstler aus aller Welt haben sich auf den riesigen Stahl- und Betonwänden kreativ und farbenfroh verewigt. Auch Judith Rakers greift zur Sprühdose.
Wachau: Marillenknödel und ein Märchenschloss mit Geschichte
Das malerische Flusstal zwischen Melk und Krems mit seinen Weinbergen gehört zum UNESCO Weltkultur- und Naturerbe. Hier lernt Judith Rakers, wie die berühmten Marillenknödel gemacht werden. Auf Schloss Artstetten hoch über der Donau wird Geschichte spürbar: In dem Märchenschloss trifft Judith Rakers die Ur-Urenkelin des 1914 in Sarajevo ermordeten österreichischen Thronfolgers Franz Ferdinand.
Wien: Tradition genießen
In Wien wird's traditionell. Mit dem Fiaker macht Judith Rakers eine kleine Naschtour: Erst gibt es Kaiserschmarrn, dann lernt sie, Wiener Schnitzel zu braten, und zum Abschluss gönnt sie sich die berühmte Sachertorte.

Walking in PASSAU / Germany ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Passau / Germany is a Bavarian city at the Austrian border. Passau is called the City of Three Rivers as it lies at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers.
On our tour we start at the St. Stephen's Cathedral, featuring distinctive onion-domed towers and an organ with 17,974 pipes. We walk down to the banks of the Inn river and check out the the old town which is known for its baroque architecture.
Soon we are at the Three River Conjunction (Dreiflüsseeck) from where we walk back along the Danube (Donau) river on the Donaukai. This leads us back to the central city where we get to the train station and end our Passau tour.

Regensburg is Germany’s mediaeval wonder and capital of the Bavarian Oberpfalz which is often described as Italy’s most northerly city. Much prized in Europe and designated by UNESCO as a unique cultural and historical monument and also the hometown of Pope Benedict XVI. The mighty dome of Sanct Peter marks the centre of the Old Town and the impressive Episcopal Church stands on the site of a Roman building. An equestrian statue of King Louis The First guards the building which was modelled after various French Gothic cathedrals in around 1250 A.D. The Ancient Town Hall is one of the oldest in southern Germany and was built in the thirteenth century. The city’s wealthy citizens featured grand ballrooms on the first floor of their residences therefore the Town Hall could have nothing less grand and so the Imperial Hall was built. In the 19th Century Regensburg could be described as having been a ‘Sleeping Beauty’ because this city on the Danube lacked industry and therefore the new wealth. The fact is though that both history and the Old Town have made Regensburg a World Heritage Site.

Der Donauradweg Passau - Wien
Europas ältester Fernradweg führt von der niederbayrischen Dreiflüssestadt
Passau 350 Kilometer entlang der Donau in Österreichs
Bundeshauptstadt Wien. Wir haben die Strecke getestet und
Impressionen mit der Kamera festgehalten. Von Passau startend
erlebten wir das Naturwunder Schlögener Schlinge, wo die Donau sich
in zwei 180-Grad-Windungen in die Landschaft grub. Oberösterreichs
Landeshauptstadt Linz - Europas Kulturhauptstadt 2009 - mit dem
neuen, spektakulären Musiktheater oder den Museen Lentos
und ARS Electronica Center präsentiert sich sehenswert.
Grandios das mächtige Barockstift Melk am Eingang der UNESO
Weltkulturerberegion Wachau mit seinen Weinbergen am
Ufer der Donau. Begeistert haben uns die vielen freundlichen
Gasthäuser mit toller Küche und Keller.
Beeindruckend zum Abschluss unserer familienfreundlichen Radreise
die österreichische Bundeshauptstadt Wien mit historischen Bauwerken
aus der Monarchie wie Schloss Schönbrunn, Hofburg oder in der

This time, we stopped in the small city, colourful city of Passau, Germany. The city lies very close to the Austrian border and is also the point where THREE major rivers - the Ilz, Danube, and Inn - meet!
From a stunning cathedral to the charming old town, we had a really relaxing time exploring the city when we visited at the start of September! We even got the chance to hike up to the Veste Oberhaus - a fortress that is over 800 years old - and enjoyed a drink with amazing views! Passau is also a popular stop for Danube river cruises so if you're visiting Passau (for whatever reason), this video should give you a snapshot of what to expect!

My first stop in Europe well on an assignment for Viking River Cruises was the town of Passau, Germany which is in the heart of Bavaria. The town is a travel photographer's dream. It is just a fantastic place to shoot images. Passau has plenty of fantastic views to keep you occupied. It also has beautiful architecture, interesting streets, good food, and markets. Of course, it's also Christmas season in Europe, so I had the chance to visit the Bavarian Christmas market, and sample some of the local grub. All in all, Passau, Germany was absolutely brilliant. It's one of those places that just defines this part of Europe. In many ways, it's the typical Bavarian town, and in other ways it's just so unique. It's one of those European towns that I'd love to spend a week or two just exploring the streets and creating images. But, alas, my time in Passau had to be fairly short as I only had a day and a half before my ship set sail for my next destination.

Visit Passau, Germany: The City of Three Rivers
Passau was founded by the Celts more than 2,000 years ago and is one of Bavaria's oldest cities. It rests at the confluence of the Inn (think Innsbruck), Ilz and Danube Rivers.
A good walking tour on a raw day through little lanes, oohing and aahing over old buildings on the last river cruise day.
