Eskişehir; from eski old and şehir city)[4] is a city in northwestern Turkey and the capital of the Eskişehir Province. In the Byzantine era its name was Dorylaeum.[5] The urban population of the city is 898,369 with a metropolitan population of 797,708.[1] The city is located on the banks of the Porsuk River, 792 m above sea level, where it overlooks the fertile Phrygian Valley. In the nearby hills one can find hot springs. The city is 233 km (145 mi) to the west of Ankara, 330 km (205 mi) to the southeast of Istanbul and 78 km (48 mi) to the northeast of Kütahya. Known as a university town; Eskişehir Technical University, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, and Anadolu University are based in Eskişehir. The province covers an area of 2,678 km2 (1,034 sq mi).[6]

Eskişehir, Türkiye'nin bir ili ve en kalabalık yirmi beşinci şehridir. Ayrıca nüfus bakımından Ankara, Konya, Kayseri'den sonra İç Anadolu bölgesinin en büyük 4. ilidir. 1993 yılında çıkarılan kanunla Büyükşehir Belediyesi olmuştur. Nüfusu 2021 yılı TÜİK istatistiklerine göre 898.369'dur.[2] Ortasından Porsuk Çayı geçen şehir, içerisinde Osmangazi Üniversitesi, Eskişehir Teknik Üniversitesi ve Anadolu Üniversitesinin bulunması nedeniyle bir öğrenci kenti görünümündedir.
Met helvası, nuga helvası, haşhaşlı çörek, Kalabak suyu, çibörek ve lületaşı ile meşhurdur. Ayrıca balaban kebabı da Eskişehir mutfağında önemli bir yer almaktadır. İşlenebilir lületaşı, Türkiye'de yalnızca Eskişehir'de çıkarıldığı için Eskişehir taşı olarak bilinir.[3] Türkiye'de Eskişehir ve Sivrihisar dolaylarında yetişen bir çoban köpeği olan akbaş da şehre ait önemli değerlerdendir.[4] Sanat kurumları ve tesisleri ile kültür ve sanatta gelişmiş bir şehirdir. Anadolu Üniversitesi ve büyükşehir belediyesi bünyesinde iki adet senfoni orkestrası bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca her yıl düzenlenen Uluslararası Eskişehir Festivali ile şehirde müzik, tiyatro, resim ve sinema dallarında sergiler ve gösteriler yapılmaktadır.[5]
Eskişehir günümüze kadar değişik uygarlıklar altında varlığını sürdürmüştür. Üzerinde kurulan medeniyetlerden bazıları Frigya, Bizans, Anadolu Selçukluları ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'dur.[6]
Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri Hava Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı'na bağlı Muharip Hava Kuvveti, Hava Füze Savunma Komutanlığı, 1. Hava İkmal ve Bakım Merkez Komutanlığı ve 1. Ana Jet Üs Komutanlığı'da Eskişehir'de bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca hem askerî hem de sivil havaalanı Hasan Polatkan Havalimanı bulunmaktadır.
Eskişehir 2013 yılında Türk Dünyası Kültür Başkenti ve UNESCO Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras Başkentliği unvanlarını taşımaktadır.[7]
Türk Hava Yolları'nın Airbus A330-200 tipi uçağı, TC-JNG, de 'Eskişehir' adını taşımaktadır. Eskişehir, İç Anadolu Bölgesi'nin kuzeybatısında yer almaktadır. İl merkezinin kuzeyinde Mihalgazi ve Sarıcakaya, doğusunda Alpu ve Ankara, güneyinde Mahmudiye, Seyitgazi ve Afyon, batısında ise İnönü ve Kütahya sınırları ile çevrilidir.

Estergon Kalesi (Macarca: Esztergomi vár) Macaristan'ın başkenti Budapeşte'nin 60 km kuzey batısında Tuna nehri kıyısında yer alan kale.
Macaristan ve Osmanlı tarihinde büyük bir önem taşır. 13. yüzyıl başına tarihlenen kale, Macaristan’ın tarihinde inşa edilmiş ilk önemli yapılardan birisidir. 1241’deki Moğol istilasına kadar Macar Krallığı’nın idari ve dini merkezi olmuştur[1].
Osmanlı Devleti, ilk defa 1543’te o sırada Avusturyalılar’ın yönetiminde olan kaleyi zaptetti. 1595 yılında Osmanlılar’ın kaleyi teslim etmek zorunda kalması türkülere konu olmuştur[2]. 1605 yılında yeniden zaptedilen kale, 1683’te kesin olarak Osmanlı yönetiminden çıktı. Günümüzde bir turistik cazibe merkezidir.
Estergon Kalesi, 1241’deki Moğol istilasına kadar Macar Krallığı’nın idari ve dini merkeziydi. Kral IV. Bela 1256’da başkenti Budin’e taşıdı ve kaleyi din adamlarına bıraktı. Başpiskoposluk makamının bulunduğu yapı, günümüzde müzedir.
Kale, 1530’da Avusturya Kralı Ferdinand tarafından istila edildi.

The municipality of Bakırköy is much larger than the quarter and also includes several other neighborhoods, such as Yeşilköy, Yeşilyurt, Ataköy. Bakırköy lies between the D.100 highway (locally known as E-5) and the coast of the Sea of Marmara.
Istanbul's largest mental hospital is in Bakırköy, and the parkland surrounding it is the largest green space in the district.
The centre of Bakırköy is an important commercial district. There is a huge shopping district (including a number of huge shiny shopping centres as Carousel, Capacity, Marmara Forum, Aqua Florya), a range of cinemas, bars and cafés, as well as conversion of streets to pedestrian malls.
If you’re one of those people who likes to get their shopping done in one place, then this is one of the best shopping malls to visit is Capacity Mall. You can spend a whole day walking up and down this street, getting your shopping done.
Some parts of Bakırköy are very pleasant residential areas, particularly the streets from the hospital downwards to the sea. The planned satellite town of Ataköy to the west of Bakırköy centre is very tidy indeed, and was one of Turkey's first planned residential developments. Ataköy contains much social infrastructure including the Galleria shopping center and yacht marina.
The botanical garden in Bakırköy includes many fun activities for all and for children in particular. There are several sculptures of dinosaurs, water and sandy playgrounds for children.
As well as exquisite water formations flow on a gradient slope and pour to meet in a pool of winged golden horses in the very magnificence and splendor!
Istanbul Aquarium is located in the Florya district of Istanbul's Bakırköy near the seashore and close to Ataturk International Airport.
The Aquarium of Istanbul is the largest aquatic zoo in the Middle East and has been ranked as one of Europe's largest aquarium in size, area, and the number of marine habitats it includes.
