Barcelona Travel Guide - Spanish Unique Moments

Barcelona Travel Guide - Spanish Unique Moments

Barcelona is the capital and largest city of Catalonia and Spain's second largest city, with a population of over one and half million people (over five million in the whole province). Barcelona is the city of the soccer club FC Barcelona. This city, located directly on the northeastern Mediterranean coast of Spain, has a rich history, having been under Roman, then Frank law before declaring its independence.

Districts of Barcelona :

Ciutat Vella
(the Old City), is indeed the oldest part of the city and is numbered as District Number One. It is located in a central position on the Mediterranean coast and is the top tourist magnet of the city. Top attractions in Ciutat Vella include the Medieval architecture of the Barri Gotic neighbourhood, the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona in Raval and the Naval Museum at the end of the entertainment-filled walking path known as Las Rambles.

Eixample
is known as the Modernist Quarter for its imposing Modernistic buildings such as the Casa Mila, the Temple Expiatori and the local district hall. The district's street-grid is extremely strict, being divided into square blocks with widened streets at every intersection to allow for greater visibility.

Gràcia
is located in north-central Barcelona just north of Eixample. It was originally a separate city, which was founded in 1626 as the Our Lady of Grace Convent. It joined Barcelona only in the 20th Century and maintains an ambience of its own

Sants-Montjuïc
is located along the Mediterranean on the southern edge of Barcelona. It was formerly a separate municipality centred in Sants, but also includes the port and industrial complex called the Zona Franca and a wealth of museums and monuments. There are also frequent fairs and festivals in this part of Barcelona.

Sant Martí
on the east edge of town, is named after the first church built in the area- St. Martin's.

Inland Suburbs
Areas such as Sarrià, Pedralbes, Horta and Sant Andreu invite you to get off the beaten path and get away from the tourist crowds.

The Barcelona Card features unlimited free travel on public transport and free admission and discounts at around 100 visitor attractions. The card is available for purchase for periods of between 2 and 5 days. Explore highlights the of Barcelona by segway in hours. Several tours give you the opportunity to Get to know the history of Barcelona from professional tour guides also get advice for the best places for eating, going out and shopping.

Barcelona is a city with more than 20 Michelin stars in all its restaurants. The Catalans pride themselves in great food, which is anchored in centuries of history and the us of fresh products. Barcelona offers an incredibly voluminous and diverse array of sleeping accommodations to the eight million or so tourists who visit the city annually.

Most people who visit Barcelona wish to tour the major sites in city center first and foremost, and therefore it makes sense to be located downtown. With your headquarters in Old City areas like Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter or the inner-city beachfront zone known as La Barceloneta, you have immediate access to the city's transportation hub and plenty of places to visit on foot.

Districts of Barcelona

The City of Barcelona is divided into 10 administrative districts each with its own Ajuntament. The city centre districts of Ciutat Vella and L'Eixample along with Sants-Montjuïc, Gràcia and the beaches of Sant Martí are the most likely desinations for tourists. But if you live here, Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Horta-Guinardó. Nou Barris and Sant Andreu are not only wildly different but also have a lot going for them.

Our Equipment

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Sants in 5 minutes - Barcelona District to District

Discover the Sants neighbourhood in 5 minutes.

We want to show you Barcelona neighbourhood by neighbourhood, so we sent Asier Suescun to speak with the residents. Local people and immigrants that live in the district will tell you all the information and reasons you need to come to get to know the area and live there.

Sants is a family district with lots of life and plenty of shops. It's most important roadway is Carrer de Sants, which some say is the longest highstreet in Europe (1.35 miles), but that title is more likely owned by Piotrkowska Street in Poland (3.04 miles).

It's also said this is the best connected district of Barcelona in terms of transport because it has Sants Station – the main train station of Catalonia and second in Spain. It also has Metros, buses and local rail.

Plaça d'Espanya is one of the entryways into the district where you'll find Las Arenas, an old bullfighting ring turned into a shopping centre. It has a rooftop terrace with 360º panoramic views over Barcelona.

The neighbourhood has many squares, local life, markets, everyday local shops and the city's large natural green area – Montjuïc. On its slopes and peaks you'll find lots of parks to stroll, sports installations that hosted the 1992 Olympic Games and Montjuïc Castle. It's now used for celebrations, open-air cinemas and other cultural activities but back in the day it was typically used as a political prison and execution ground.

We show you a tailor-made map which will show you the points of interest around the neighbourhood so you don't get lost and enjoy it just as if you were one more local.

What do you think? Are you already here? Would you add something else? Leave a comment.

You can also subscribe to our channel. We have many more videos and we'll continue to make more. We want to make Barcelona your city.

Places to see in ( Barcelona - Spain ) Parc de Montjuic

Places to see in ( Barcelona - Spain ) Parc de Montjuic

Parc de Montjuic is one of Barcelona's green lungs and best vantage points. This little world of history, gardens, museums, cultural centres and Olympic facilities makes it unique. The imposing hill it occupies from the Sants neighbourhood looks towards the port and offers you an impressive city landscape.

Montjuïc Hill has borne witness to, and been the focus of key events that have shaped its personality. The first such event was the 1929 International Exhibition held in Barcelona which fostered the development of the zone. More recently, the 1992 Olympic Games brought about major renewal.

Montjuïc is also home to museums, such as the Fundació Miró , the Museu d'Arqueologia, the Museu Etnològic and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya-MNAC. The latter, which is housed in the Palau Nacional, the centrepiece of the 1929 exhibition, invites us to discover 1,000 years of Catalan art. The Pavelló Mies van der Rohe, which was the German pavilion at the event, is a superb example of Bauhaus architecture. The former Casaramona textile factory, a modernista landmark by Puig i Cadafalch, is now home to CaixaForum, a cultural centre which hosts temporary exhibitions. The Magic Fountain and the Poble Espanyol, with its artisans' village, are other places of interest in Barcelona which are a must-see.

The Olympic Ring, the main site of the Olympic Games, features the stadium, the Estadi Lluís Companys, Arata Izosaki's sports palace, the Palau Sant Jordi, and the telecommunications tower designed by Santiago Calatrava. Nearby, the Museu Olímpic i de l'Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch and the Botanical Gardens are also unmissable sights as you explore the Parc de Montjuïc.

Situated on Montjuïc, La Ciutat del Teatre, this theatre complex has given fresh impetus to the city's rich and varied cultural offer and become one of the world's foremost centres for the performing arts. It is made up of the Mercat de les Flors and the Teatre Lliure de Montjuïc.

( Barcelona - Spain ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Barcelona . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Barcelona - Spain
