The Santa Paula Canyon Trail to the Punch Bowls of Los Padres National Forest is one of the best hikes in Southern California. It features beautiful swimming holes, cliff jumping, a huge natural water slide and even rope swings! It's a 10 mile round trip hike to the furthest punch bowl with the slide. The area recently reopened after the devastating Thomas fire, so take extra precautions hiking through recent burn areas and keep an eye out for dead falls, rock/mud slides and potholes. Stay safe and pack out your garbage.

Santa Paula Punch Bowls - Natural Water Slide and Cliff Jumping

This is a short edit of our recent adventure hike out to the Santa Paula Punch Bowls. There's 3 swimming holes named the Punch Bowls and each one has its own unique feature. The first one is the easiest to get to and is the most popular, family friendly spot. The second one is a nice clear pool in a slot canyon with sick jumps. And the third, which is the hardest to get to, features a sweet natural water slide. The area has recently re-opened after the devastating Thomas fire from last winter. Full vlog here:

4K - California Scenic Drive Santa Paula to Carpinteria through Ojai. Driving Entire CA-150 Highway

California Scenic Drive Santa Paula to Carpinteria.
Driving Entire CA-150 Highway 4K
Dash Cam Tours driving video.
No music

This road trip takes you along the Entire Road 150 East Highway from the city of Santa Paula, California to the ocean front city of Carpinteria, California.

State Route 150 (SR 150) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California.

It runs from U.S. Route 101 near the Ventura/Santa Barbara County line to State Route 126 in Santa Paula, providing a connection to Lake Casitas and Ojai.

It is a two-lane road. There were some one-lane bridges near the western end of the route, but these were rebuilt to be two-lane bridges after flooding in 2005.

The western terminus is at US 101 in eastern Carpinteria.

It climbs above the Pacific Ocean to reach the mountains west of Lake Casitas.

The portion of the road between US 101 and Lake Casitas is called Casitas Pass Road, and the portion between Lake Casitas and Ojai is called Baldwin Road.

However, this part of the road is rural and is not used as a primary thoroughfare. SR 33 is recommended to reach Ojai from U.S. 101. SR 150 joins SR 33 (Maricopa Highway) near Meiners Oaks and remains co-signed with the route into the Ojai city limits, where it is known as Ojai Avenue.

It runs southeast on Ojai-Santa Paula Road and serves as the major connector between the cities of Ojai and Santa Paula, running past Thomas Aquinas College.

In Santa Paula, it becomes 10th Street and ends at an interchange with SR 126.

The other names of Route 150 include Rincon Road (starts at U.S. Route 101 and ends at State Route 192), Casitas Pass Road (starts at Route 192 and ends at Santa Ana Road near Lake Casitas), Baldwin Road (starts at Santa Ana Road and ends at the south junction with Route 33), Ventura Avenue (co-signed with Route 33), Ojai Avenue (starts at the north junction with Route 33 and ends at Reeves Road, approximately one mile east of the east limit of Ojai), Santa Paula/Ojai Road (starts at Reeves Road and ends at the north limit of the City of Santa Paula), Ojai Road (starts at the north limit of Santa Paula and ends at Santa Paula Street in Santa Paula) and 10th Street (starts on Santa Paula Street in Santa Paula and ends at Route 126).

SR 150 south of the outer Ojai city limits is part of the National Highway System, a network of highways that are considered essential to the country's economy, defense, and mobility by the Federal Highway Administration.

This route is eligible for the State Scenic Highway System, but it is not officially designated as a scenic highway by the California Department of Transportation.

History

The route was opened in 1897. Before the construction of US 101, it was part of the main highway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

Originally, State Route 150 followed the alignment of State Route 192 through the Santa Barbara foothills and climbed up San Marcos Pass via the present-day route of State Route 154 before heading west on State Route 246, passing through Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Buellton and ending in Lompoc at State Route 1 (Cabrillo Highway).

The only current remnants of that routing are at the mileage signs for westbound State Route 150, which have the control city as Santa Barbara west of Santa Paula, even though SR 150 currently ends 12 miles (19 km) east of the city.

Ventura Ranch KOA Campground Overview - Santa Paula, California

Ventura Ranch KOA Campground Overview - Santa Paula, California

When we visited Ventura CA, we stayed at the Ventura Ranch KOA. Here is an overview of what we found!

Nestled in the hills above Santa Paula California on the edge of the Topatopa Mountains ( this campground provides an excellent getaway from the city while still being a short drive to many area attractions and accessing the park is easy along well maintained paved roads.

Here you will find gentle peacocks roaming This 77 acre park that offers 148 sites, varying from primitive tent sites to luxury penthouse accommodations with spectacular views. The park was very well maintained and landscaped and we found it a pleasure just to spend time in.

RV sites are offered in 4 distinct areas with a few more remote options available. Some full hookup sites are available and many are water and 50 Amp electric, however a complimentary pumpout is available for longer stays.

Many tent sites are available through the campground and offer rustic accommodation in beautiful natural settings. Restroom and showers are located in each of the tent sections and throughout the park and were clean and well maintained. For those who don't want to bring their own tent you could stay in one of the Tipi village tipis which offer comfortable beds and furniture. If luxury is more your style, glamour tents are available as well offering the outdoor experience ...along with comfortable “glamping” amenities .

Beautiful Cabins are also available in three different styles. The studio cabin, 2 Bed 2 Bath models, and the Deluxe Model, all including a kitchen, private bath, and all your linens.

If you looking for a luxurious mountain getaway you might even consider one of their penthouse suites that sit atop the hill. These beautiful tiny houses offer all the comforts of home. And spectacular views of the surrounding hillsides and citrus fields.

Amenities at the park include complimentary Wifi though most sites, Propane filling station, Well stocked Campground store, Pool (open during summer months), Pavilion, Laundry, Dump station, Clubhouse available to reserve, RV storage, and activities for the whole family every weekends.

For the adventurous ones, the climbing wall and zip lines provide thrills and tons of fun. Kids will love the ever popular jumping pillow and playground, as well as participating in arts and crafts and the popular gem mining experience, where you get to search for hidden treasures in soil! Also take advantage be sure to take advantage of the hiking trails to spend some time in nature.

For the adventurous ones challenge yourself to the climbing wall, or have fun flying through the trees on the ziplines.

From rustic camping to luxurious accommodations we found the this campground can provide it all! The staff was helpful and friendly and we know you will have a great time when visiting the Ventura Ranch KOA.

Harbor

Ventura Harbor has fishing boats, seafood restaurants and a retail center, the Ventura Harbor Village.

The Channel Islands National Park Headquarters is also located at the harbor, and boats to the Channel Islands depart from there daily.

The Westside of Ventura is a large subdivision of neighborhoods along Ventura Avenue.

The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has issued a safe eating advisory for any fish caught in Ventura Harbor to Santa Monica Pier due to elevated levels of mercury and PCBs

Ventura lies between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara along U.S. Route 101, which was one of the original U.S. Routes.

The highway is now known as the Ventura Freeway, but the original route through the town along Main Street has been designated El Camino Real, the historic pathway connecting the California missions.

Santa Paula is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. Situated amid the orchards of the fertile Santa Clara River Valley, the city advertises itself to tourists as the Citrus Capital of the World.

Santa Paula was one of the early centers of California's petroleum industry. The Union Oil Company Building, the founding headquarters of the Union Oil Company of California in 1890, now houses the California Oil Museum.

 The population is 29,321
