Hi guys, today we visited the monastery of Santa María de Montserrat (in Catalan , Monestir de Santa Maria de Montserrat ). it is a Benedictine abbey located in the mountain of Montserrat , belongs to the region of Bages, in the province of Barcelona, at a height of 720 meters above the level of the sea. It is a symbol for Catalonia and has become a pilgrimage point for believers and a must for tourists.
In 1025, Oliba, Abbot of Ripoll and Bishop of Vic, together founded a new monastery at the hermitage of Santa Maria de Montserrat. The little monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who contributed to the spread of stories of miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin.
In 1409 the monastery of Montserrat became an independent abbey. From 1493 to 1835, a period in which the monastery underwent great reforms, growing and increasing in splendour, Montserrat was part of the Valladolid Congregation.

Castillo de Cardona
El castillo de Cardona se encuentra en la localidad de Cardona (provincia de Barcelona, España).
Este castillo es probablemente la fortaleza medieval más importante de Cataluña. Está situado sobre una colina que domina el valle salino y el valle del Gardener.
Fue construido en el año 886 por Wifredo el Velloso. De estilo románico y gótico, incluye la denominada Sala Dorada y la Sala dels Entresols. Durante el siglo XV, los duques de Cardona fueron la familia más importante de la Corona de Aragón, sólo por detrás de la Casa Real. Por esto se los denominaba reyes sin corona, pues disponían de extensos dominios territoriales en Cataluña, Aragón y Valencia, y vínculos dinásticos con las casas reales de Castilla, Portugal, Sicilia y Nápoles. En 1714, después de un asedio que destruyó en buena parte las murallas del castillo, fue uno de los últimos reductos en entregarse a las tropas borbónicas de Felipe V durante la Guerra de Sucesión Española. Su joya es la torre de la minyona (del siglo XI), de 15 metros de alto y más de 10 metros de diámetro y la iglesia románica de San Vicente de Cardona.
Actualmente el castillo alberga el Parador Nacional de Turismo Duques de Cardona, y ha sido incluido entre los diez mejores castillos de Europa en los que hospedarse por los usuarios de TripAdvisor, la mayor comunidad de viajeros en Internet.

Tenemos que destacar que Tarrasa es una de las ciudades pioneras de la revolución industrial en España por lo cual durante nuestro recorrido descubriremos numerosas fabricas, industrias textiles, chimeneas, etc.
A uns vint quilòmetres de Barcelona, a la comarca del Vallès Occidental, trobem Terrassa, una població que actualment compta amb un ric patrimoni que ha marcat la seva història. Durant el nostre recorregut podemos tropar-nos ams importants exemples d'estils artístics i períodes molt variats, entre els quals destaquen el romà, romànic, gòtic i modernista. Hem de destacar que Terrassa és una de les ciutats pioneres de la Revolució Industrial a Espanya per la qual cosa durant el nostre recorregut descobrirem nombroses fabriques, indústries tèxtils, xemeneies, etc.

As an initiative from the Municipality of Barcelona, the famous Fiesta Catalana (Catalan Festival) takes place on the Avinguda de la Catedral (Cathedral Avenue). This festival is celebrated with a wide range of folkloric activities, designed for those who want to get to know more about the Catalan roots. This is an event for you to enjoy the most beautiful traditions of the Catalan culture.A colla castellera is a group of people (men, women and children of all ages) who build human towers. This tradition was born in Tarragona two hundred years ago and has spread throughout Catalonia, Penedes, Roussillon and the Balearic Islands. Castles are always built to the sound of castellera music, which is composed by timbals and gralles that are played according to the type of the castle is being raised.
This event takes place on Avinguda de la Catedral and the Plaça Nova 1, both located in the district of Ciutat Vella, in the proximity of the most important buildings of the city.
This is a show that aims to bring the world of Catalan culture to all tourists and visitors in the city. For this reason, the events will be presented in different languages, for the viewers not to miss any detail of the performances. The main objective of this tradition is to show the diversity of manifestations of the Catalan culture.
On Saturday the 8th of September, the Castellers of Barcelona performed (a colla castellera founded in 1969), the Bordegassos de Vilanova (a colla castellera from Vilanova i la Geltrú created in 1972) and the Falcons de Barcelona (a colla castellera founded in 2003).
