Here's the thing... although Barcelona, Spain is famous for its food, it can actually be a really tough place to eat well. That's because there are so many tourist trap tapas bars out there serving soulless, flavourless junk. And it can be really difficult to find the great places.
But fear not, having spent a lot of time in this city, I've finally narrowed down a list of 8 of the best tapas bars in the city. These places will not disappoint - great food, excellent wines and full of soul.
So, I hope you enjoy this tapas tour of Barcelona's best tapas bars, which I did recently with two my colleagues from Devour Tours - my fellow Devour Tours co-founder Lauren Aloise (check out her Spanish food blog: and Devour's marketing director Katie Stearns. ✨Saint Marti neighbourhood is one of the gateways to the city in the Northeast area.
Taking into account all the districts of Barcelona, it is the second most populated area ????????????. It is also the second district with the largest built-up area ????.
✨Poblenou is a great neighborhood with trendy bars and cafes where you can have an aperitif or one of the best brunches in Barcelona. It has renovated factories that now house offices, housing and exhibition galleries.
✨El Clot is a modern yet traditional neighborhood. It is not a particularly well-known neighborhood, but it is perfect for living or staying in monthly rental apartments.

Local people and immigrants mix their lives in this district and in this video they explain all the information to get to know the area better and settle into this neighborhood.
Sant Martí is a large district of Barcelona that encompasses many neighbourhoods. Among them are Poblenou, Vila Olímpica, Diagonal Mar and Sant Martí. All of them are very well connected with the centre by metro or bus.
The area of the Vila Olímpica underwent a tremendous transformation thanks to the 1992 Olympic Games. Large buildings were developed to house the Olympians, and now it's here that you can find the tallest manmade structures in Barcelona - the Mapfre Towers
The area of Poblenou still retains its atmosphere and village-like appearance. It has shorter buildings and a beautiful Rambla away from the tourist routes that makes walking around the neighbourhood an authentic Barcelona experience.
The Diagonal Mar zone is famous for the shopping center that shares the same name. Here, the Forum was built, a triangular building that hosted the Universal Forum of Cultures in 2004. Now it's used for events, concerts, fairs and celebrations.
A very interesting aspect that this district has is its proximity to the sea. The district is adorned by five beaches: Nova Icaria, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant beach.
