????Sant Gervasi-Galvany????

Sant Gervasi-Galvany is a neighborhood in the Sarriá-San Gervasio district of the city of Barcelona . The name of the neighborhood refers to San Gervasio, since it was the lower part of this municipality to which it belonged until its annexation to Barcelona, and to Camp d'en Galvany, the urbanization of which its owner, Josep, began in 1866 Castelló and Galvany, who with his other surname also gave name to the Plaza de Castelló. The Galvany name became popular when they were adopted by the Galvany market, located in the center of the neighborhood between Santaló, Calaf, Amigó and Madrazo streets.

It occupies the area delimited by Doctor Fleming, Vía Augusta , Balmes and Diagonal streets until the confluence with Avenida de Sarriá. This area, in the division into neighborhoods approved by the San Gervasio de Cassolas city council in 1879, corresponds roughly to the Lledó neighborhood, which takes the name of the old Mas Lledó.

The population of the neighborhood is mainly of bourgeois and upper class social extraction and the oldest nucleus is around Sagués and Amigó streets. Starting in the 1950s, numerous buildings were erected, of which the most luxurious are located between Alfonso XII and Muntaner streets. Today it is a neighborhood with a great nightlife due to the large number of bars, restaurants and nightclubs that are especially around Tuset street and its surroundings.

It has two entrances, by the Mare de Déu del Coll promenade and by the Castellterçol street. Although the name in Castilian could be translated as Crucecita del Collado, its origin is unknown, because the cross on the top was placed by the residents of the same hill in the year 2000, with photos showing this fact. Therefore the name is prior to the existence of the cross.

????Mercat de Galvany????

The Galvany Market is a municipal market in Barcelona. The building, with Noucentista elements of iron and modernist architecture, is a work included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

The Galvany Market is located in the neighborhood of Galvany, in the district of Sarrià - Sant Gervasi, occupying the entire island of rectangular houses delimited by the streets Madrazo, Santaló, Calaf and Amigó.

It is a detached building, located in the center of the site, which has four facades facing the four lanes, where the accesses are arranged. The building is organized in four longitudinal bodies of basilical section articulated around a large octagonal space supported by four large arches and crowned by a dome, forming a floor plan of Greek cross, where the arms facing the streets Madrazo and Calaf reach the street while those facing Amigó and Santaló streets have an open space in front of them. The arrangement of the arms allows to release to the outside the four corners, used like zone of load and download of commodities. The enclosure is closed by a powerful irregular stone wall with brick pillars.

The façades are articulated by means of a stone plinth where the exposed brick walls rest, which at the top have groups of three-perforated windows topped by raised arches. At the top of the arches is a stained glass window. The entrance portals are framed by stone columns that rise from the plinth, with capitals adorned with floral motifs and crowned by a molded semicircular arch that overlooks the coat of arms of Barcelona. Above there is a polychrome mosaic with plant motifs, while on the tympanum that ends the central part of the façade there is another mosaic, in this case with the old coat of arms of the city.

The interior has large free spaces, without compartments, thanks to the use of 28 iron pillars. This material is also used in trusses, which allow the roof to be supported on two sides. In the center of the market, as a singular element, we find a modernist lamppost with a period clock at the top.

Built in exposed stone it follows a language very close to the noucentisme, although also it presents / displays modernist decorative elements.

Sant Pere de les Puelles (in Catalan, Puel·les, in Spanish, Real Monasterio de San Pedro de las Puellas) is a Benedictine monastery in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighborhood of the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The 10th-century building, Romanesque/Gothic in style, was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural landmark in 1931.

A nunnery was founded by Count Sunyer I and his wife Riquilda Toulouse next to an ancient church dedicated to San Saturnino. The church was consecrated on 16 June 945 by Bishop Guilarà. The first abbess was Adelaide, widow of Sunifredo of Urgel. In 985, the monastery was attacked by the troops of Almanzor. Count Borrell II restored it; the new abbess was Adalet. The monastery grew slowly. At the end of the 10th century, the community was composed of a dozen religious. In the following century, the number rose to 20, most of them daughters of nobles of the time. The powerful religious families were responsible to financially support the monastery. In 1147, a new, larger church, encompassing both the monastery and the old church dedicated to St. Sadurní, was consecrated.

The community suffered with the 1835 secularization and the monastery became a prison. In 1879, the religious community moved to a new location in the district of Sarria-Sant Gervasi. In 1873, the cloister and other sections was removed. The monastery suffered a fire in 1909 after which it was rebuilt. A new fire ravaged the building during the Spanish Civil War in 1939.
