SANGÜESA A small town that hosts a big gem.
Sangüesa was founded in the year 1090, and has always been part of the route to Santiago. By the XIII century it was the border with the Kingdom of Aragon, this gave the city a strong fortification.
But the jewl of the city it is not the fortification, but the church. An incredible gem from the end of the Romanesque era.

Camino Aragonés, 4. Ruesta a Sangüesa
Ruesta, un pueblo expropiado por la creación del pantano de Yesa. Sólo existe un albergue de peregrinos. Empezamos el día en descenso y hacia la ermita románica de Santiago, tambien abandonada. Aquí empieza una subida de una hora. Ya en el alto de los montes de Fenerol veremos el nuevo valle del río Onsella. Espectaculares vistas que nos llevan hasta Undués de Lerda. Desde aquí caminaremos entre campos de trigo hasta Sangüesa, una antigua villa con edificios de estilo románico, gótico, renancentista y barroco.

El albergue de peregrinos municipal de Sangüesa es un albergue público exclusivo para peregrinos del Camino de Santiago con credencial, situado en el centro de la localidad navarra de Sangüesa, en el Camino Aragonés.
Más información:
El albergue nació fruto de la acogida cristiana que las monjas del Convento de la Hijas de la Caridad ofrecían a los peregrinos. Ellas se encargaban de mantener el albergue en perfecto estado. Luego pasó a ser de propiedad municipal y desde 2012 está gestionado por la Asociación ASPACE Navarra.

Tiny Tour | Ochagavía Spain | A beautiful town once completely burned down in 1794 | 2019 Autumn
Hi guys, in this episode, we visited Ochagavía (Basque name: Otsagabia). it is a Spanish municipality of the Foral Community of Navarra , located in the Merindad de Sangüesa , in the Salazar Valley , in the Roncal-Salazar region and 85 km from the community capital , Pamplona. When we’re visiting, the maintenance team was working on road before winter hits the valley. So there might be some noise in the video. I hope it doesn’t bother too much.

Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage -Alternative Chemin d’ Arles route over the Pyrenees. RND Diaries #156
The Chemin (or Voie) d’Arles joins the Camino Frances in Spain at Obanos, just before Puente la Reina. It begins in Arles in France and passes through Montpellier and Toulouse to Pau, before following the Valle d’Aspe and crossing the French border at Somport in the Pyrenees to drop down to Jaca in Spain. From Jaca it tracks the river Aragón up to the Camino Frances via Monreal. Here are the stages I walked:

*****Berdún is a detour off the camino which I took to get a lift to Sangüesa so I missed the ~45km of walking to Sangüesa around the Embalse de Yesa (2 days walking?) I had the opportunity to meet friends in Pamplona during St Fermin and subsequently did not have the time for the 2 days walking I would have needed to do this stage.
**And…. On day 6 I took the tourist bus to visit the Monasterio nuevo de San Juan de la Peña from Jaca and then walked down the mountain to Santa Cruz de la Serós from the Ermita de San Voto instead of walking there from Jaca.
I approximate you would need 11 days to walk from Pau to Monreal if you also walked from Berdún to Sangüesa and maybe another 2 days to walk from Monreal to Obanos.
