A Quick Cool Down In The Sea At Sandown - Isle Of Wight - July 2021 | kittikoko #isleofwight #beach

#sandown #isleofwight #beach #virtualwalk

From Visit Isle Of Wight:

Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight's finest and most recognised beaches, with miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown’s pleasure pier. Popular with tourists and surfers, Sandown is a traditional 'bucket and spade' holiday beach with all that you expect from an English family beach.

Sandown’s esplanade has traditional seaside cafes, souvenir and beach shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course. The beach has several outlets to hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks for you to set up camp on the beach and you can get take away teas and coffees and eat hot chips with salt and vinegar whilst you sit on the beach.

The main seafront area begins slightly west of the pier where there is plenty of parking and from here the road runs along the Esplanade down to where the sand narrows. At this point there is a beach shop and shore side cafe and the road turns inland. All along this esplanade are traditional hotels, some with palm-filled gardens and some with decked areas with wonderful views of the beach.

Running parallel behind the beachfront is the High Street that has a selection of arty and tourist style shops along with major supermarket chains, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Sandown sits on the Southern coast of the Isle of Wight, sheltered in a beautiful bay, and is famed for its long stretches of golden sandy beach and the traditional British seafront and pier.

Sandown also has a great selection of attractions, including a Zoo housed in an old fort and a purpose built interactive Dinosaur Museum.

Sandown has lots of things to do for people of all ages and interests.

For a fun and relaxing family day out head to Sandham Gardens and have a go with Skynets: The Big Bounce, karting and Dino golf, or just enjoy the glorious gardens.

You can relax and spend quality time strolling along Sandown Beach followed by an ice cream or refreshments at one of the licensed beach cafés.

The main town beach stretches all the way along the Esplanade where it meets with Yaverland Beach, which is regarded as one of the Isle of Wight’s best beaches.

Yaverland is very popular for watersports, and there are a number of local water sports centres from which you can test your skills at windsurfing, kayaking or many other activities.

Top UK Holiday Destinations For Summer 2021 In Lockdown - Top 5 Picks

A staycation doesn't mean you have to compromise on an adventure - the UK is filled with heaps of brilliant destinations. Here are the hotspots for the ultimate family break to watch in 2021!

#topUKHolidayDestinationsForSummer2021InLockdownTop5Picks #bestUKholidaydestinationforfamily #bestfamilyholidaydestinations2021uk #largefamilyholidays2021uk #bestukholidaydestinationsforyoungfamilies #FamilyPopTV #Mostpopularholidaylocationsuk

We're talking bustling seaside resorts, quiet countryside retreats and remote landscapes with hidden campsites, not to mention all of the historic sites, fun attractions and pretty botanical gardens waiting to be discovered. The pandemic means that an increasing number of Brits are opting to holiday in the UK, so to give you a helping hand we've flagged some of the great spots that are worth having on your radar. If you've got particular attractions in mind, make sure to double check their opening times as the pandemic may mean they are closed certain days or have limited capacity - and of course, local tier restrictions may apply so always double check the alert for your own local area and the destination before planning, booking or going on a trip.
We take a look at some brilliant staycation destinations below:

(00:35) Cornwall - has heaps of things to see and do with the kids, whether you're after a lazy day on the beach, thinking of exploring the Eden Project or want to spend your days exploring its breathtaking coast. Then there are the charming villages and towns, friendly locals and restaurants serving up proper British grub. Who needs Spain when you can find plenty of sunshine and golden sand beaches right here?

(03:39) Isle Of Wight - If it's an idyllic seaside break you're after, the Isle of Wight won't disappoint.
For a start it boasts plenty of child-friendly beaches with the likes of Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor proving popular thanks to the calmer waters and facilities on offer. Then there are all of the activities and adventures to be had whether you go exploring Robin Hill park's green landscapes and playgrounds, pretend to be giants at the Godshill Model Village, or get up close to donkeys at the local sanctuary.

(06:11) Dorset - Home to the Jurassic Coast, Dorset is an ideal destination for families who prefer to go exploring the Great Outdoors. You'll find heaps of fascinating trails (including easier ones for smaller children), as well as breathtaking views and highlights such as Lulworth Cove. Another coastal highlight is the eye-catching limestone Durdle Door, with the added bonus that it's right by a popular beach if you're visiting in the summer and want to make the most of the sunshine.

(08:32) The Lake District - Not only do the landscapes here look like the stuff out of storybooks, but they're home to countless adventures whether you've got small children or trying to keep the teenagers entertained. Lakes like Ullswater are a must for thrill-seekers thanks to the wide array of water sports on offer, while the countless walking trails are ideal for hikes before heading back to the charming towns and villages with friendly locals and cosy accommodation.

(10:31) Blackpool - If you're after a cheap and cheerful weekend away by the seaside, Blackpool could be just the place. For a start there's Blackpool Pleasure Beach where you'll find thrilling rollercoasters for teens and adults as well as a Nickelodeon themed land for smaller children, while the Central Pier never fails to draw in visitors looking for fun arcade games and seaside views.
British weather letting you down? Head to Blackpool Tower where you can take in the views, discover the elegant Ballroom, or give yourself a scare at the Blackpool Dungeons. Meanwhile, celebrity fans might want to head to Madame Tussaud's in search of their favourite stars!

Sandown Beach | Isle of Wight | England | Things To Do In Isle of Wight | Isle of Wight Travel Guide

Sandown Beach | Isle of Wight | England | Things To Do In Isle of Wight | Isle of Wight Travel Guide

Check out our travel blogs and travel website for more content on the best places to visit around the world.

When we talk about the most idyllic beach destinations in England, the Isle of Wight frequently tops the list, and for a good reason. With its stunning coastal panoramas, rich history, and charming local culture, this island gem promises a unique travel experience. And at the heart of its seaside allure lies Sandown Beach.

A Beach for Every Traveler
Set against a backdrop of golden cliffs, Sandown Beach boasts one of the most extensive stretches of golden sandy shoreline on the Isle of Wight. Whether you're an adventure-seeker looking to ride the waves, a family in search of a safe swimming spot, or a couple on a romantic getaway, Sandown has something for every type of traveller.

Step Back in Time with Dinosaur Fossils
The Isle of Wight, often dubbed the Dinosaur Capital of Great Britain, offers paleontology enthusiasts a treat, especially around the Sandown area. The beach and its surrounding cliffs are rich in prehistoric fossils. Sign up for a guided fossil walk and embark on a journey millions of years back in time. These excursions not only introduce visitors to the island's ancient inhabitants but also to its fascinating geological history.

Watersports Galore
For those who equate beach vacations with adrenaline, Sandown Beach won’t disappoint. It's a hub for watersports on the Isle of Wight. From jet-skiing and paddleboarding to paragliding and windsurfing, there's no shortage of aquatic adventures waiting to be experienced.

Stroll Along the Pier
No British seaside escapade is complete without a leisurely stroll down a classic pier. The Sandown Pier, extending majestically into the sea, is home to amusements, bowling lanes, and even an indoor golf course. As you walk to the pier's end, take in the panoramic views of the English Channel, and perhaps enjoy a traditional British ice cream cone.

Explore the Isle's Natural Beauty
Beyond its beach, Sandown's natural landscapes are worth exploring. The nearby Sandown Levels is a designated site of special scientific interest, playing host to various bird species. Meanwhile, the Battery Gardens offer sweeping views of the bay and are an excellent spot for picnics and relaxation.

Family-Friendly Activities Abound
If you're visiting with family, especially younger members, Sandown offers plenty of entertainment options. The Isle of Wight Zoo, located close to the beach, showcases a variety of exotic animals and focuses on conservation efforts. Further adding to the family fun is Dinosaur Isle, an interactive museum where kids can learn about the prehistoric creatures that once roamed the region.

Indulge in Culinary Delights
Travel isn’t just about sights; it’s also about tastes. Sandown's promenade and town are sprinkled with delightful cafes, traditional fish and chip shops, and restaurants serving fresh seafood. Relish the tastes of the Isle while enjoying views of the shimmering waters.

Accommodation for All Budgets
Whether you're looking for a cosy bed and breakfast experience, a luxury hotel with sea views, or a self-catering apartment, Sandown caters to all accommodation preferences. Many of these places offer a warm Isle of Wight hospitality, ensuring your stay is as memorable as your adventures on the beach.

Seamless Connectivity
Reaching Sandown Beach from the mainland UK is a breeze. Regular ferries ply from Portsmouth and Southampton to the Isle of Wight, followed by a short train or bus journey to Sandown. Even the journey, with views of the sparkling sea and distant cliffs, sets the tone for the idyllic beach holiday that awaits.

The Isle of Wight has long been a cherished holiday destination for Brits and international travellers alike. So, the next time you find yourself dreaming of a beach escape, remember that you don't have to traverse continents to find paradise.

Day trip to Isle of Wight | Places to visit in the UK

Hello buddies!!!
In this video, we have captured our day trip to Isle of Wight - Chair lift, Needle point, Alum Bay beach and Sandown beach.

We have booked star tours for this trip. You can also find different tours for this trip like Sun tours, Dil Se, Angel tours etc. Price varies from 50 to 70 pounds per person.

The Isle of Wight is an island off the south coast of England. It’s known for its beaches and seafront promenades such as sandy Shanklin Beach and south-facing Ventnor Beach, which is dotted with vintage beach huts. Dinosaur remains and fossils can be seen in areas like Compton Bay and Yaverland Beach. On the island’s western point, The Needles are 3 huge, white chalk rocks, guarded by a 19th-century lighthouse.

Places to see in ( Shanklin - UK )

Places to see in ( Shanklin - UK )

Shanklin is a popular seaside resort and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, England, located on Sandown Bay. Shanklin is the southernmost of three settlements which occupy the bay, and is close to Lake and Sandown.

The sandy beach, its Old Village and a wooded ravine, Shanklin Chine, are its main attractions. The esplanade along the beach is occupied by hotels and restaurants for the most part, and is one of the most tourist-oriented parts of the town. The other is the Old Village, at the top of Shanklin Chine.

The main shopping centre consists of two roads, Regent Street and High Street, which together comprise the largest retail area in the south of the Isle of Wight; significant for tourists but also as an amenity for residents. Near Regent Street are the town's two main supermarkets, the Co-op and Lidl. In Regent Street itself are many local shops, including two arts and crafts shops, several clothing and sports shops, three newsagents and three bakeries. The High Street also has some local shops, but is dominated by tourist shops and restaurants.

Shanklin railway station is the terminus of the Island Line from Ryde, opened on 23 August 1864. The railway was extended south to Ventnor in 1866, but this section was closed in 1966. The line from Ryde to Shanklin is now operated by former London Underground tube trains. In October 2004 a direct link was revived in the form of a bus service named the Rail link. This was discontinued in 2010 but was replaced by the Southern Vectis number 3 bus. Bus services to nearby towns and suburbs are run by Southern Vectis and Wightbus, mainly on routes 2, 3, and 23, principally from the bus stands at The CO-OP. Destinations served include Newchurch, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Ventnor and Winford. In the summer, an open top bus route called The Sandown Bay Tour is run, serving the main tourist areas of Shanklin and running to Sandown.

Shanklin is on the coast of Sandown Bay, and therefore is part of the long beach which spans between Yaverland in the North to Luccombe in the South. The section of beach situated next to Shanklin is split into Small Hope Beach and Hope Beach. Above Hope Beach is the esplanade which boasts some traditional seaside attractions including an amusement arcade, a crazy golf course, and a children's play area, with slides, ball pools, bouncy castles, rigging, swings etc.
