Die werden auf La Gomera sorgfältig gepflegt – zum Beispiel der Hirtensprung, eine uralte Form der Fortbewegung im Gebirge. Faszinierend ist auch eine Wanderung durch den hoch gelegenen, urzeitlichen Lorbeerwald im Nationalpark Garajonay. An dessen Rand befindet sich der imposante Roque de Agando, eins der Wahrzeichen La Gomeras und früherer Kultort der Ureinwohner. Am Strand von Vueltas geht Tamina Kallert schnorcheln und füttert einen Rochen mit der Hand.
Die Insel La Gomera ist eine der sieben Hauptinseln der Kanarischen Inselgruppe. Sie entstand vor etwa 12 Millionen Jahren durch vulkanische Aktivitäten. Ein markantes Merkmal der Insel ist die rote Erde, die ihre Landschaft dominiert. Diese rötliche Färbung ist auf einen hohen Gehalt an Eisenoxid zurückzuführen, das sich nach Vulkanausbrüchen auf der entstehenden humusreichen Erdschicht abgelagert hat. Das Eisenoxid ist auch verantwortlich für die Fruchtbarkeit des Bodens.
Rund 600 Kilometer Wanderwege gibt es auf La Gomera. Durch ein gut ausgebautes Busnetz sind die Routen bequem ohne Mietwagen zu erreichen. Wer nur für einen Badeurlaub auf die Insel kommt, sollte den Norden meiden. Der raue Wellengang des Atlantiks ermöglicht dort keine Badestelle, bietet dafür aber einen imposanten Anblick. Insgesamt ist die Insel im Norden feuchter und kühler als im Süden. Das hängt mit kühlen Meeresströmen zusammen, die hier vorbeifließen. La Gomera liegt am sogenannten Kanarenstrom, einem Ableger des Golfstroms. Der Kanarenstrom transportiert auf seinem Weg aus Nordafrika aus den Meerestiefen Nährstoffe und Mineralien hierher. Das zieht auch viele Fische an und vor allem Wale, die dort zahlreich vorbeiziehen.

Mit der Autofähre legen wir in San Sebastian an. Dann wandern wir zum Wahrzeichen der Insel, dem Berg Agando. Natürlich darf auch der mystische Nebelwald nicht fehlen.
Durch den Nebelwald wandern wir auf den höchsten Punkt der Insel, den Alto de Garajonay. Von hier aus hast du einen wunderschönen Blick hinüber auf die anderen Kanarischen Inseln.

San Sebastián de la Gomera is the capital of and municipality on La Gomera in the Canary Islands, Spain. It also hosts the main harbour. The population was 8,699 in 2013, and the area is 113.59 square kilometres (43.86 sq mi).
The port serves ferry routes to the islands of Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro. Streets include Calle Real and F. Olsen. A bus station named Estación de Guaguas is used for bus lines throughout the island; it is located on Avenida Quinta Centenario.

Is la Gomera worth visiting? San Sebastian, Columbus, marina guide and costs
I got to La Gomera on a sailboat. The trip started in Tenerife (San Miguel marina) and finished in San Sebastian marina (the main marina in La Gomera). In this episode I will share my experiences from the port, I will take you on a tour through vibrant, singing streets of La Gomera capital, you will get to know unknown facts about Christofer Columbus (was he Portuguese, Spanish or Italian?) and you will see his house before he left to discover a new continent America.

A Walk Through The Parador De La Gomera . - Fancy Hotel With Amazing Views, Gardens and Pool
On our last day on La Gomera we decided to explore San Sebastian de la Gomera and stumbled upon the Parador de la Gomera while trying to find a viewpoint over the city. These Parador Hotels are Spanish government owned and are either set at amazing and unique landscapes or are hosted inside unique buildings. So in general, staying at a Parador Hotel will guarantee for very unique stay.
We decided to get a drink and then explored their gardens a bit and the amazing pool. The view from the Gomera side over to Tenerife with the Teide were just breathtaking.

Road Trip To San Sebastian On La Gomera And Walk Through The City
This was our very last day on La Gomera. In the morning after packing our things, we hopped into the car to take a very last car ride on the island from Agulo to San Sebastian.
The first half of the video covers the ride but the second half takes you on a walk through San Sebastian. You get to see some squares, cute streets, a church, the Christoper Columbus Statue and his house, where he stayed before he sailed out to explore the new world.
We got so spoiled with summer like temperatures and loved every single minute we spent in San Sebastian.
P.S. The real highlight was of course the whale bubble machine :)
