Antioquia, Colombia has some of the friendliest towns in South America. Jardín, Santa Elena, Santa Fé de Antioquia, San Rafael, and Guatapé have some of the most beautiful scenery in all of the small towns of South America in my opinion. Antioquia is the region of Colombia where you can find Medellín.
I have compiled my favorite drone shots from Antioquia, Colombia in this short video highlighting the best towns in South America. My favorite town in Antioquia would have to be Jardín, which should be no surprise after seeing the incredible scenery shown in this footage. Thanks for watching!

Guatapé, Colombia is a unique little town that every tourist should visit. It is the most colorful place you can visit. besides the picturesque streets, the tiny town offers visitors many different things to do and see: like climbing up the giant granite rock southwest of town, has hundreds of steps to the top, where there are sweeping views. San Rafael Colombia is one of a few dozen little pueblos in the Antioquia región, within reach for a day trip. This small town is set apart by its Caribbean-blue swimming holes, one in particular is Cascada la Cazuela.

One weekend we decided to join a local hiking group (based in Medellin) on a day trip to San Rafael, Colombia which is known for its beautiful landscape, waterfalls, and streams. San Rafael is beautiful and is worth a day or weekend trip!

Hey everybody and welcome to a new video on my channel. Today a video from a wonderful town of Antioquia in Colombia, just 3 hours from Medellin: San Rafael, Antioquia.
You can reach San Rafael by taking a bus from Medellin, and continue around 45 minutes after the famous Guatape. San Rafael is a small town famous for its wonderful charcos (puddles), natural pools where you can swim and relax with your family or friends.
There are hundreds of these natural pools in San Rafael, including caves and spectacular waterfalls. You will see some of them in today's video! #SanRafael #Antioquia #Colombia

Medellin Tourism : Day trips from Medellin
Guatapé is a small, very beautiful lake town in East Antioquia, about 1.5 hours from Medellín, Colombia. The picturesque town of Guatapé is known as Pueblo de Zócalos, named after the beautifully sculpted and painted depictions of village life that adorn the lower half of most buildings in the city center. On weekends, the beachfront boardwalk is filled with local vendors selling beautiful Paisa art, food, and souvenirs, and adventurers can ride Cable Vuelo, a canopy rope over the lake. Popular boat tours visit the former Viejo Peñol area, a town that was inundated by the creation of the reservoir, now marked by a giant commemorative cross. Boat trips may include a trip to see La Manuela, Pablo Escobar's now-bombed lakeside mansion, and Fantasy Island, a swimming area in the middle of the reservoir, rental cabins, a beautiful sanctuary. La Piedra landscape, a tienda selling snacks and beer, and a pair of friendly red parrots.

Direct buses from Medellín pass from Terminal del Norte (connecting directly to Caribe Metro Station), passing El Peñol and the entrance to La Piedra on the road to Guatapé (approximately two hours). Two companies serve: Sotrasanvicente, (4) 861-0595 and Sotrapeñol, . Buses depart approximately every 20 to 30 minutes, starting at 6 am (13,000 to 14,000 COPs,). Many buses continue to San Rafael. The last bus from Medellín to Guatapé is at 19:00. The last bus from Guatapé to Medellín is at 6:30 PM (7:45 PM on Sunday and Holiday Mondays). Return buses to Medellín fill up quickly on the weekends - buy your ticket in advance (at least 2 hours in advance).
The city center is less than 2 miles from La Piedra rock. Moto-taxis serve La Piedra from Parque Principal in Guatapé and the local area (they want 10,000 COP but will happily accept 6000 COPs per trip, ). Buses and Willys (Jeeps) are also serving between Guatapé and El Peñol and passing through the entrance of La Piedra . Men often hang from the back allowing excellent views. To go to La Piedra, ask to be dropped off at the Zeuss gas station, from there it's an uphill 1 km walk. Chivas serves remote rural areas.

The majestic surroundings of Embalse El Peñol - Guatapé, one of the largest lakes in the country, were created in part by the construction of a hydroelectric dam that supplies 30% of Colombia's electricity supply. It's hard to miss the region's most famous attraction, a rock outcrop over 200 meters high that towers above the surrounding area. It is officially called El Peñon de Guatapé, but more often referred to as La Piedra (Stone). More than 600 stairs have been built on the side of this huge geological wonder, and safe access to the hill (COP 18,000 offers a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding areas, as well as souvenirs and snacks.

The following activities and tours can be arranged in and around Guatapé and El Peñol with English-speaking guides on request: Motorcycle Tours and Rentals, Hiking, Scenic boat tours, Rowing boat rental, Canoeing, Fishing, Excursions to hidden waterfalls and swimming holes, Arts and Crafts shopping, Canopy Zipline, Mountain and Road Biking, Horse Riding, Rock Climbing and free tours at local museums.
