San Miguel de Abona è un pittoresco comune della zona sud di Tenerife le cui origini risalgono al Menceyato di Abona. È sempre stato caratterizzato dalla presenza di contrasti, per la bellezza e la tranquillità e per la varietà di angoli davvero incantevoli. Sono molte le possibilità offerte al turista: degustazione di prodotti della terra, passeggiate lungo le vie del centro antico, recentemente dichiarato Bene di Interesse Culturale, dove è possibile scoprire un austero ma singolare complesso storico-artistico. Luoghi come la Parrocchia Madre di San Michele Arcangelo (costruita nel 1796), la Casa Museo del Capitano (residenza dei Los Alfonso alla fine del XIX secolo), la Biblioteca Comunale (prima sede del Municipio), la Casa Natale di Juan Bethencourt (medico, storico, antropologo, etnografo, professore e giornalista nato a San Miguel nel 1847), la Casa Azul (attuale sede del Municipio) o la Casa Cuatro Esquinas (attuale Ufficio del Turismo) consentono visite imperdibili. Inoltre, grazie alla posizione geografica privilegiata, Costa San Miguel è il luogo ideale in cui praticare innumerevoli attività all'aperto, tra cui spicca il golf, grazie alla presenza sul territorio di due magnifici campi, Golf del Sur e Amarilla Golf, pionieri nella zona sud di Tenerife, oltre al porto turistico La Marina San Miguel, che integra l'offerta per il tempo libero attivo del territorio comunale, che offre una vasta gamma di sport acquatici e subacquei, circondato dalla cortesia della sua gente. Il comune di San Miguel integra l'offerta di tempo libero a contatto con la natura con vari sentieri circondati da paesaggi spettacolari, che ne hanno fatto un punto fondamentale per chi decide di scegliere una vacanza sana e attiva. Collocandosi nella parte più alta del territorio comunale si nota un'orografia punteggiata da un insieme di coni vulcanici che conferiscono una certa complessità paesaggistica. Ci sono lunghe e profonde gole che nascono sulla vetta e vanno a morire sulla costa, dove sporgono alcune piccole rocce e piccole spiagge di sassolini e sabbia nera. A Costa San Miguel bisogna segnalare la Riserva Ambientale di San Blas, dal grande valore paesaggistico ed etnografico, e l'area protetta di Montaña Amar
