The area has been inhabited as far back as it's possible to discover. Research in the cave of Palanlı 10 km north of Adıyaman show occupation in 40,000 BC and other digs in Samsat reveal continuous occupation through the stone and Bronze Ages.
From 900BC onwards came waves of invasions from Assyrians, Persians, and Macedonians until the Commagene kingdom was founded in 69BC. This was the civilisation that built the statues on top of nearby Mount Nemrut. The capital was in Samsat (Samosata) but the town of Adıyaman was a walled city of the Commagenes. The city walls of Adıyaman have been restored and replaced many times since.
The Commagene kingdom lasted until the Romans came in 72AD. Yet more campaigns and invasions followed and Adıyaman was controlled by Byzantines 395-670, Ummayads from 670 and then Abbasids 758-926. Then the area returned to Byzantine control during 859-1114. The Arabs returned from 1114 to 1204 and finally came the arrival of the Turks. The Arabic name for the castle and town was Hısn-ı Mansur[citation needed].
Turks moved into the area from 1114 onwards and for most of the 13th century was settled by the Selçuk Turks often disrupted by Mongol invasions. From 1298 to 1516 the town was under the control of the Mameluks. Adıyaman was brought into the Ottoman Empire by Selim I in 1516, but local power often rested with the Dulkadiroğulları tribe of Türkmen people that settled here

Perre Archaeological Site, Adıyaman
Here is the Perre Archaeological Site, one of the five big cities of the #Commagene Kingdom!
Perre connected Melitene (Malatya) to the capital Samosata (Samsat). Especially in the #Byzantine period, the city was a crossway between the west and Persian east.
There are numerous beauties to see in Perre: Cisterns, wine workshops, Byzantine wall structures, and more. These all make us think that the city was also an important social center in ancient times.

Uzbekistan Day 1: Tashkent
On Day 1 in Uzbekistan we went on an ultimate Uzbek street food tour in Tashkent, including the biggest bazaar in the city, and the most massive plov (rice pilau) cooking in Tashkent.
We had arrived at the airport in Tashkent at about 4 am in the morning, and at 9 am we were ready to start eating our way through the city.
First we met up with Bekruz and Akbar both from the Ministry of Tourism Uzbekistan (Bekruz is the one who invited me to Uzbekistan and arranged everything for us, so thank you Bekruz!), and Ravshan (check out his channel: a local food vlogger in Uzbekistan.

Bread Bazaar, Tashkent - We started this ultimate street food tour at the bread bazaar in Tashkent, a market dedicated fully to bread, with a little fruit and other things mixed in. We bought some break, some kaymak, and some fruit and then went to a nearby restaurant where they laid everything on the table for us, along with tea. Uzbek breakfast was a great way to get started.
Chorsu Bazaar - The grandest bazaar in Tashkent is Chorus Bazaar, and it’s a perfect place to get a feel of Uzbek culture and food. We first stopped at the food court to try hanum, a type of dumpling filled with potato and somsa. Then we continued to the dome shaped iconic part of the bazaar, filled with fresh meat and spices. It’s one of the coolest market structures anywhere in the world.
Plov Center - We kind of had to rush out of Chorsu Bazaar because although they prepare 1,500 Kilos, seriously, of rice plov per day, it only takes 2 - 3 hours before they run out everyday. So we got there, already one of the monster swimming pool pans was finished, but they still had a few others going and serving. Plov is the national dish of Uzbekistan, a food that’s eaten on every and all occasions. For Tashkent plov, it’s pretty heavy on the meat at oil, with rice, chickpeas, and raisins. Also it included, qazi - horsemeat sausage which is a delicacy. It was incredibly delicious, and proper meal experience.
Total price - 100,000 UZS ($12.21)
Plov is love, remember that when you’re in Uzbekistan.
National Food Restaurant - After strolling around for a while in the afternoon, we continued to a National Food restaurant, a laid back family style restaurant that serves all things Uzbek food. Along with a number of dishes, the main dish I was most interested in was the naryn, thin slices of dough mixed with minced meat and horse. It was interesting, and quite good, as were the other dishes.
Total price - 110,000 UZS ($13.43)
Sultan Suleyman Restaurant - For dinner we went to a bit of a fancy trendy restaurant, and had another platter of food. This time, dough noodle like sheets topped with meat, horse sausage again, and green onions.
Total price - 122,000 UZS ($14.90)

Karakuş Tumulus: A Monument Dedicated to the Queen of Commagene
Karakuş Tumulus, located in the Kahta district of Adıyaman, is one of the most important historical structures of the Kingdom of Commagene. The tumulus, built in the 1st century BC in memory of Isauria Laodike, Queen of Commagene, is famous for its 3 lion statues.
The height of the tumulus is approximately 30 meters. The tumulus was built on a podium with 3 lion statues. The lion statues are approximately 8 meters high and have very detailed workmanship. The faces of the lions resemble Herakles, the guardian god of the Commagene Kingdom.
At the top of the tumulus, there is a statue of Isauria Laodike, Queen of Commagene. The statue is approximately 2 meters high and made of marble. In the statue, Laodice is depicted wearing a dress and a crown.
Karakuş Tumulus is an important monument showing the power and wealth of the Kingdom of Commagene. The tumulus is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and hosts thousands of local and foreign tourists every year.
The tumulus is located near Mount Nemrut, an important religious and political center of the Kingdom of Commagene. The tumulus is located at the foot of Mount Nemrut, on the banks of the Kahta Stream. To reach the tumulus, you can use minibuses departing from Kahta district.
Karakuş Tumulus is one of the historical buildings that must be seen by those who visit Adıyaman. The tumulus offers its visitors the opportunity to take a journey from past to present.

Merhabalar ben Reşat Taman, Diyarbakır doğumlu, seyahat ve fotoğrafçılık tutkusu ile yanıp tutuşan, 13 senedir fırsat buldukça hayallerinin peşinden gitmek için Dünya’yı arşınlayan ve bu hayalleri gerçekleştirirken gittiği her yerde zıplayarak imzasını koyan, 31 yaşında kısmi zamanlı bir gezginim. Kamuda yatırım uzmanı ve eğitmen olarak görev almaktayım.
13 senede 3 kıtada ve 60’a yakın ülke ve 280 civarında şehir gezdim. Hatta bazı şehirler/kasabalara ayak basan ilk Türk olduğum konusunda iddialıyım. Seyahatlerime başlarken önce bir kıtayı bitirip diğerlerine başlayacağım demiştim. Bu yüzden ilk Avrupa kıtasını İzlanda hariç tamamen bitirdim. Son zamanlarda özellikle zaman ayırma anlamında seyahatin zor olduğu Afrika ve Asya kıtalarına başladım. Son olarak benim için işin en zevkli kısmı olan zıplama muhabbetinden de bahsetmek istiyorum. Ben oldum olası kadraj karşısında durup poz vermeyi ya da selfie çekmeyi bir türlü sevemedim. Ama sonuçta gittiğimiz yerlerde bir hatıramız olmalıydı. Ben de kendime bir imza bulmaya karar verdim. Bu imza öyle bir imza olmalıydı ki benim seyahate olan aşkımı, tutkumu ve enerjimi yansıtmalıydı. Sonunda gittiğim tüm şehirlerde ve kasabalarda zıplayarak yüzlerce imzadan oluşan bir koleksiyonum oldu. Bu kanalı 11 yıllık eski ev arkadaşım, can yoldaşım ve birçok gezimde beraber yol katettiğim Veysel Levent AKKOR ile kurduk. Umarım videolarımızı izlerken keyifli bir zaman geçirirsiniz.

The mountain lies 40 km (25 mi) north of Kahta, near Adıyaman. In 62 BC, King Antiochus I Theos of Commagene built on the mountain top a tomb-sanctuary flanked by huge statues 8–9-metre high (26–30 ft) of himself, two lions, two eagles and various Greek and Iranian gods, such as Heracles-Artagnes-Ares, Zeus-Oromasdes, and Apollo-Mithras-Helios-Hermes.[1][2] These statues were once seated, with names of each god inscribed on them. The heads of the statues at some stage have been removed from their bodies, and they are now scattered throughout the site.

This pool is believed by Muslims to be the place where Abraham was thrown into the fire by King Nimrod.
When Abraham landed in the fire, it turned the flames into water and the logs into fish. The carp fish are considered sacred and protected. That's why now there are hundreds of them in Balikligöl.
