We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

Live in Salinas, Ecuador - International Living
Salinas is a fully-fledged beach resort—among Ecuadorians, it's probably the country's best-known resort. This is the place for those who like all amenities: modern condominium buildings (which line much of Salinas' miles-long beach), restaurants, coffee shops, bars and discos. Plus there's regular bus service to Guayaquil, only two hours away, which has an international airport.
Despite being this coast's upscale, all-amenities option, prices in Salinas are still low. Modern two-bedroom condos on or near the beach will cost you in the low $100,000s. In family-style neighborhoods just a few blocks from the beach, there are three-bedroom houses, often with lawns and garden areas, going for $60,000 to $80,000...and the kids can walk to the beach.
Salinas in Ecuador is a great place to escape those long, cold North American winters (I took the photo above on Nov. 23). The sunny season goes from mid-December through April, and you'll find the warmest waters between January and March--so now is the perfect time to go for a swim.
The beach here is wide, sandy and clean, bordered by the blue, calm Pacific waters. To the left, the sun is gleaming off a few dozen motor yachts and sailboats parked in the marina. To the right, the curving shoreline stretches for miles into the distance, with scores of modern, tall buildings mixed with old-fashioned apartments and seaside restaurants.
While the entire miles-long beachfront is bustling during peak periods, it tends to quiet down as you go west along the water. My favorite area here is called Chipipe (chee PEE peh), located at the western end of the public beaches where they adjoin the property owned by the naval base. Since this is the end of the line, the area gets less cruisers, no through traffic, and a somewhat quieter crowd. Yet the beaches are generally wider and nicer than anywhere along this stretch.
