Sagunto is a town in Eastern Spain, in the modern fertile comarca of Camp de Morvedre in the province of Valencia. It is located c. 30 km north of Valencia, close to the Costa del Azahar on the Mediterranean Sea. It is best known for the remains of the ancient Iberian and Roman city of Saguntum, which played a significant part in the Second Punic War between the Carthaginians (under Hannibal) and the Romans.

Sagunto Castle, Old Town, Port of Sagunto. 4K
A short walk in Old town and Port of Sagunto.
A city that can offer plenty of things to see and enjoy. Lovely food and some nice museums. Historic Castle on the top of the mountain with Beautiful Roman theater opened to public and lovely stretch of sandy beach short drive from Old part of Sagunto town.
Sagunto has good commute channels like buses and train Station. Only 25 min. from Valencia. Definitely can recommend to make a half day trip to Sagunto if you are Staying in Valencia.
Un paseo por Sagunto (4K) 2021 – Walking in Sagunto [España]
Visitamos un cerro con milenaria historia. Estamos en Sagunto. Muchos la recordarán por ser la primera conquista de Aníbal el cartaginés en Iberia. Pues allá por el año 219 a.C, lanzó un ataque contra el asentamiento fortificado íbero de Arse, por entonces aliado de Roma (el archienemigo cartaginés). Tras esto comenzó la segunda guerra púnica que tras muchas derrotas por el lado romano, consiguieron la victoria final en Zama (202 a.C).
Mientras tanto, en el 214 a.C, Sagunto fue reconquistada por un asalto romano y entonces la denominaron Saguntum. Ha tenido otros nombres como Murviedro, y también tuvo otros asedios memorables como en 1811 con la invasión francesa.
Actualmente es un sitio histórico fácilmente accesible pues se puede llegar hasta en vehículo a la misma entrada en caso de no poder subir andando. La visita (al menos al momento de grabar el video) es gratuita, y el cerro se compone de dos partes. De un lado está el castillo en la posición más elevada y del otro (mirando hacia el mar) está la otra parte fortificada que se accede por la enorme puerta de la almenara.
