AKRON 4K - Driving Downtown - OHIO - USA

#universtyofakron #Akron #ohio
The city was founded in 1825 by Simon Perkins and Paul Williams, along the Little Cuyahoga River at the summit of the developing Ohio and Erie Canal.

The name is derived from the Ancient Greek word ἄκρον : ákron signifying a summit or high point. It was briefly renamed South Akron after Eliakim Crosby founded nearby North Akron in 1833, until both merged into an incorporated village in 1836. In the 1910s, Akron doubled in population, making it the nation's fastest-growing city.

A long history of rubber and tire manufacturing, carried on today by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, gave Akron the nickname Rubber Capital of the World. It was once known as a center of airship development.Today, its economy includes manufacturing, education, healthcare, and biomedical research; leading corporations include Gojo Industries, FirstEnergy, Huntington Bank, and Charter Spectrum.

Notable historic events in Akron include the passage of the Akron School Law of 1847, which created the K–12 system; the popularization of the church architectural Akron Plan, the foundation of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Akron Experiment into preventing goiters with iodized salt, the 1983 Supreme Court case City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health; and portions of the 2014 Gay Games.

A racially diverse city, it has seen noted racial relations speeches by Sojourner Truth in 1851—the Ain't I A Woman? speech; W. E. B. Du Bois in 1920;and President Bill Clinton in 1997.In 1914, Marcus Garvey founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association in Akron.Episodes of major civil unrest in Akron have included the riot of 1900, rubber strike of 1936, and the Wooster Avenue riots of 1968. Notable individuals from the city include the basketball players LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

This is a great place to go during the Corona Pandemic because of their car hops. You never have to get out of your car. You just back into a space and turn your headlights on and a curb side server runs out to you fully masked.

Drive Time 56 ...... Driving to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. USA l ThatGuyJunJun

In this Drive Time video...we pay a visit to #CuyahogaFalls, Ohio. USA. Heading north from Akron on State Route 8...we arrive shortly and capture a quick drive around the city. Having grown up in Akron...didn't go to the Falls often or at least as I remember...so not very familiar with the city...not sure where major landmarks were or the city center. Hope to comeback and do a proper tour walking around when I can come back up from Columbus.

HIKING CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK TRAILS: Ledges Trail + Ledges Overlook, Cuyahoga Valley, Ohio

HIKING CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK Ledges Trail + Ledges Overlook, Cuyahoga Valley National ParkTrails Cuyahoga Valley, Ohio Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Filmed on #GoPro Hero 8

I had to take a trip this fall to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Cuyahoga Valley is Ohio's only National Park and the trails are undeniably a reason to visit the park. Both hiking and biking trails available to meet visitors searching for any speed.

I started the trip at Boston Mill Visitor Center and walked around the town of Boston Ohio before heading to the Ledges trailhead.

I needed to explore a variety of Cuyahoga Valley National Park Trails and started with the Ledges Trail. The Ledges Trail at Cuyahoga Valley is a loop that travels through a the Ledges or a gorge close to the Icebox Cave. The Icebox Cave is currently closed to rehabilitate the bat population, but that still leaves plenty to explore on the Ledges Trail.

I ended the day at the Ledges Overlook, a popular sunset spot since it is high and looks west over Cuyahoga Valley.

I spend 2 more days Hiking Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Become a subscriber to be the first to know when the videos post!

Smithville, Ohio

Smithville, Ohio is a Village in Green Township, Wayne County. There is a pioneer village the historical society runs which displays nine main buildings and three smaller structures dated in the early 1800's. The Smithville Inn was built in 1818 served as a stage couch stop between Akron and Wooster, Ohio. President William McKinley the 25th President came to the Inn where he gave a campaign speech. President Franklin Roosevelt would also come to the Inn later to dine. Smithville Village as many other small villages and cities have such a rich history, and should be preserved and enjoyed.
