Located in Northwestern Spain, Galicia makes up Spain's Atlantic coastline. The region is more green, luscious and rainy compared to other regions of Spain. Our first stop in Galicia was the coastal city of Vigo. A lovely city in its own right, it also acts as the main transport hub to our other major destination in Galicia, the Cíes Islands. The Cíes Islands form part of the Atlantic Islands National Park, and is filled with beautiful beaches and wildlife, notably birdlife.
After our time visiting Vigo and the Cíes Islands, we headed to the capital city of Galicia: Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela is known for being the final destination of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, and the alleged burial site of the Biblical apostle St. James.
From Santiago de Compostela we headed north along the rugged Costa da Morte in the northwestern region of Galicia. We stopped at the Playa de los Cristales as well as the beautiful Playa de las Catedrales.

Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) As Catedrais Beach
As Catedrais beach translates as 'Beach of the Cathedrals'. It is the turistic name of Praia de Augas Santas. The Spanish beach is located in the Ribadeo municipality, in the province of Lugo (Galicia), on the Cantabric coast, and it lies about ten kilometres to the west from the town of Ribadeo. Its name is derived from the formations of its cliffs.
As Catedrais Beach has been declared a Natural Monument by the regional Ministry for the Environment of the Xunta de Galicia. The place's more characteristic features are its natural arches and caves, which can be seen only in low tide. During high tide, the beach appears quite small, but is still suitable to go for a swim.
High tide is an interesting time to visit the place and wander over the top of the cliffs, from West to East, heading to the Esteiro Beach. During low tide you can appreciate the size of its magnificent cliffs and the picturesque sea caves, which go from small cracks on the rock to big caves whose roofs collapse due to the erosion of the waves.
Also during low tide you can gain access to a sand deposit delimited by a rocky wall made from slate and schist of strange and complex forms: more than 30-meters-tall arches which remind to cathedral flying buttresses, dozen-meters-long caves, sand corridors between rocky blocks and many other curiosities. When low tide is lower than usual, you can access the nearby beaches through the sand extension. However, it is advisable to be back before the water starts to cover the As Catedrais beach again, which happens very quickly, since the coast stretch is almost horizontal.

Aquí encontrarás edificios emblemáticos como la Torre de los Moreno, el Palacio de Ibáñez y la iglesia de Santa María del Campo.
La gastronomía de Ribadeo
La gastronomía de Ribadeo es otra de las razones por las que deberías visitar esta ciudad. Ribadeo es conocida por su marisco fresco y sus platos tradicionales como el caldo gallego, la empanada de bacalao y la fabada asturiana. Si eres un amante de la comida, no te pierdas la oportunidad de probar la cocina local en uno de los muchos restaurantes de la ciudad.
El Puerto de Ribadeo
El puerto de Ribadeo es uno de los más importantes de la región y una de las principales atracciones turísticas de la ciudad. En la provincia de Lugo, Galicia es uno de los pueblos más visitados en España durante el verano por su cercanía con la famosa Playa de las Catedrales; a tan solo 10 minuto en coche desde el centro del pueblo. Ribadeo es el pueblo perfecto para explorar por sus casas de indianos, su arquitectura, su gastronomía, sus faros y playas. Nos hospedamos 2 noches en una casa de indiano ahora AirB&B, estuvo muy céntrica para caminar hasta el centro de Ribadeo para desayuna y comer. En esta primera parte paseamos por el pueblo y exploramos un poco antes de visitar La Playa de las Catedrales que verán en el próximo video.

La playa de las Catedrales está situada en la costa de la provincia de Lugo (Galicia). Se le llama así por el conjunto de acantilados, algunos con más de 32 metros de altura, que esculpidos por el viento y el mar, forman unos arcos y bóvedas espectaculares dejando un paisaje maravilloso en la que está considerada como una de las playas más espectaculares del mundo.
