Regensburg is Germany’s mediaeval wonder and capital of the Bavarian Oberpfalz which is often described as Italy’s most northerly city. Much prized in Europe and designated by UNESCO as a unique cultural and historical monument and also the hometown of Pope Benedict XVI. The mighty dome of Sanct Peter marks the centre of the Old Town and the impressive Episcopal Church stands on the site of a Roman building. An equestrian statue of King Louis The First guards the building which was modelled after various French Gothic cathedrals in around 1250 A.D. The Ancient Town Hall is one of the oldest in southern Germany and was built in the thirteenth century. The city’s wealthy citizens featured grand ballrooms on the first floor of their residences therefore the Town Hall could have nothing less grand and so the Imperial Hall was built. In the 19th Century Regensburg could be described as having been a ‘Sleeping Beauty’ because this city on the Danube lacked industry and therefore the new wealth. The fact is though that both history and the Old Town have made Regensburg a World Heritage Site.

Herzlich Willkommen bei meinem Regensburg Kurz-Guide- wir hatten nicht so viel Zeit in dieser wunderschönen Stadt. Jedoch konnten wir einige Top Sehenswürdigkeiten bewundern. Regensburg ist eine der schönsten deutschen Städte, in denen wir jemals waren.
Da Regensburg eine sehr traditionelle Stadt ist und die Altstadt sogar zum UNESCO-Welterbe erklärt wurde, gibt es hier vorab die wichtigsten Regensburg Sehenswürdigkeiten:
1. Dom St. Peter: Bei den Regensburg Sehenswürdigkeiten darf die berühmte gotische Kathedrale mit ihren zwei Türmen natürlich nicht fehlen. Der Innenraum kann zu den Öffnungszeiten besichtigt werden, diese variieren in der Haupt- und Nebensaison.
2. Mittelalterliche Altstadt: Regensburgs Altstadt ist ein Gesamtkunstwerk. Dich erwartet hier die größte mittelalterliche Stadtanlage nördlich der Alpen. Die vielen Gässchen, die gut erhaltenen Sehenswürdigkeiten und Bauwerke – es macht einfach Freude, die Altstadt von Regensburg zu erkunden.
3.Die Steinerne Brücke: Das Wahrzeichen von Regensburg
Von der Altstadt gelangst du direkt zur Steinernen Brücke. Sie ist das Wahrzeichen von Regensburg und eine der wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt. Die Steinerne Brücke überquert die Donau und verbindet das historische Stadtzentrum mit dem Stadtteil Stadtamhof.
Was mich persönlich in Regensburg beeindruckt hat, kann ich klar und deutlich sagen: Die Atmosphäre in der Altstadt.Hier macht ihr förmlich eine 1000 jährige Zeitreise.

Regensburg is the largest medieval centre north of the Alps and was a major hub of trade and government for centuries. The whole old town mostly avoided war destruction and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We walked through the old town on foot, and visited the Regensburg Christmas Market.
