Rotherham is a large town in South Yorkshire, England, which together with its conurbation and outlying settlements to the north, south and south-east forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham.

Rotherham central area is on the banks of the River Don below its confluence with the Rother on the traditional road between Sheffield and Doncaster. Rotherham Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in South Yorkshire, around 6 miles northeast of Sheffield, is the town of Rotherham.

Geographically Rotherham lies at the confluence of the River Don and River Rother, the latter being the origin of the town's name.

The town's centrepiece, All Saints' Church, otherwise known as Rotherham Minster, was built in the 14th century. The tower was added in the 15th century, as was the chapel, built under orders from Rotherham-born Archbishop of York, Thomas de Rotherham, who also founded an ecclesiastical college in the town.

Industry in Rotherham predates the Industrial Revolution. In the 1750s Rotherham established both its first glass works and its first ironworks. Both industries prospered for centuries to come, with Rotherham receiving a healthy supply of coal for its foundries from nearby Doncaster, transported via the River Don. The town's ironworks industry declined in the 1970s when Rotherham-based Park Gate Iron and Steel Company was closed.

Another industry commonly associated with Rotherham is flour milling, hence the town's football club, Rotherham United, goes by the nickname The Millers.

Rotherham is the birthplace of none other than TV legends, the Chuckle Brothers.

WICKERSLEY: Rotherham Parish #27 of 31

Parishes come in all kinds of sizes, ranging from the very small to the very large. Some are so small that they even have a population of ZERO (trust me, they exist and there are eight of them in England, one of which isn't too far away from South Yorkshire so it may be coming very soon!.).

This one is well and truly one of the larger ones however, and there's no denying the fact that with a population of about 8,000 people, one of Rotherham's biggest, it means there's a lot to see here. There's so much in fact that the links in the description for this one are a must. The disclaimer in the video is there for a reason - I simply cannot film everything - and this place has far too much for just one video.

Where do we start? Well, how about one of South Yorkshire's best secondary schools, or maybe the delightful artwork painted onto the subway wall under the A631 by some of it's sixth formers? Maybe the clock tower, hiding beneath it a time capsule from 26 years ago is more to you interest? You could try the woods with some animal sculptures carved into or out of tree stumps? Maybe the farm that was converted into a huge shopping precinct?

That's not even scratching the surface. I know full well that somebody in the comments will mention Winthrop Gardens which I haven't included but I do know about, and I expect there will be loads more that I will have omitted whilst I walked around this affluent, East of Rotherham area, which still retains some of the original buildings from when it was a small village reliant on farming.

I still think I've done a good job here will all that's on display. See what you make of the parish of WICKERSLEY.

Greasbrough and Munsborough

I had an amazing time in Greasbrough today, this was close to me so I was familiar with it. I visited some of it’s places such as: The Old Park, Valentino’s, the Co Op, the New Park, the Church, the lake, the Library and many more. Overall I’m giving Greasbrough a 10/10. I also went to Wentworth today which will be in a separate video due to this video being a long one.

Amazing Sunlight on Great Budworth Church

Absolutely amazing sunlight on All Saints' Church in Great Budworth in Cheshire. This was filmed late evening, after a lovely pub meal at The George & Dragon Pub opposite the church. It looks like the church is floodlit, but it is actually the late evening summer sun shining on the top of the clock tower.

Fun Fact- This is the very church that was used in the Television Series Dear Ladies which starred George Logan and Patrick Fyffe as Hinge and Bracket. Beautiful place!

Enjoy! #GreatBudworth #HingeAndBracket #FilmingLocation #Cheshire #Sunlight

CORTON: East Suffolk Parish #11 of 177

This is a seaside holiday village, with a number of facilities for visitors, but it’s also a residential village too. It’s not a place that’s constantly overrun with tourists, which means in places it feels much more like a “normal” village if you’ll excuse the turn of phrase. It has some prominent landmarks, most notably a six-storey tower millbuilt in the 1830s

It’s recorded in the Domesday Book as Caretuna, a name probably derived from the Viking name Kari. It formed part of the Half Hundred of Lothingland, and had a population of around 21. It included a village which no longer exists - Newton - which was lost to coastal erosion during the medieval period. Its loss would result in a narrow strip of land which is now part of Norfolk, because it was transferred to Hopton in 1974.

It used to be accessible via rail. There was a station which opened in 1903 on the former Yarmouth–Lowestoft railway – the remains of which can still be seen. The station closed in 1970 and the station building is now used as a private residence.

A man named Jeremiah James Colman was responsible for building this in 1874. The Colman family became famous thanks to Colman’s Mustard, produced in Norwich. The Colmans also built the school, found on The Close. They lived in a house called Clyffe House which no longer stands due to coastal erosion, despite them investing £70,000 for a sea wall

In all this is a lovely village overlooking the sea with quite a storied past. Its name is CORTON.
