Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is a Southeast Asian country with a rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and historic sites. Here are some of the top tourist places to visit in Myanmar:

Bagan: Known for its thousands of ancient temples and pagodas, Bagan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts. Don't miss watching the sunrise or sunset from one of the temple viewpoints.

Yangon (Rangoon): Myanmar's largest city and former capital, Yangon is home to the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda, a massive golden stupa. Explore the city's colonial architecture, bustling markets, and the vibrant street food scene.

Inle Lake: A serene freshwater lake in Shan State, Inle Lake is famous for its floating gardens, traditional fishing methods, and unique leg-rowing Intha fishermen. Visit local villages and temples around the lake.

Mandalay: Known as the cultural heart of Myanmar, Mandalay offers historical sites like Mandalay Palace, Mandalay Hill, and the ancient cities of Amarapura, Sagaing, and Ava nearby.

Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda): A gravity-defying golden boulder balanced on the edge of a cliff, this sacred site is a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists. It offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.

Hpa-An: This charming town in Karen State is surrounded by limestone karst formations and caves. Explore attractions like Saddan Cave, and Kyauk Ka Lat Pagoda, and enjoy boat rides on the Thanlwin River.

Ngapali Beach: Myanmar's premier beach destination, Ngapali offers palm-fringed beaches, clear waters, and a laid-back atmosphere. It's perfect for relaxation and water activities.

Mrauk U: An ancient city in Rakhine State, Mrauk U is known for its archaeological sites and unique temples. It's a quieter alternative to Bagan and offers insights into the history of the region.

Kalaw: A hill station and trekking hub, Kalaw is a great place to explore Myanmar's countryside and ethnic diversity. You can embark on multi-day treks to Inle Lake or Pindaya.

Kengtung (Kyaingtong): Located in the Shan State, Kengtung is known for its distinctive tribal culture and traditional villages. Visit the colorful markets and learn about the different ethnic groups in the region.

Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo): A former British hill station, Pyin Oo Lwin is known for its colonial architecture, botanical gardens, and pleasant climate. Don't miss a ride on the old-fashioned horse-drawn carriages.

Chin State: Explore the remote and less-visited Chin State, known for its unique tribal cultures, beautiful landscapes, and tattoo-faced women of the Chin tribe.

Naypyidaw: Myanmar's capital city is known for its vast government complexes and modern infrastructure. It's a unique place to explore in the country.

Rakhine Beaches: Beyond Ngapali, Rakhine State has other stunning beaches like Ngwe Saung and Chaung Tha, which offer a quieter beach experience.

Myanmar's diverse attractions, from ancient temples to natural beauty, offer a unique travel experience. Be sure to respect local customs and traditions as you explore this beautiful country.

TRAVEL MYANMAR 2020 | Yangon | Bagan | Mandalay | Taunggyi | Inle | Lashio | Pyin Oo Lwin in 2 Weeks

Myanmar Travel Video 2020..

I visited Myanmar with my family this year, Interestingly my Paternal side used to live in Lashio (Shan State), Myanmar. My grandfather used to work as a postmaster in Burma as he was posted there by the then British Government in British Burma. After Burma got Independence
the newly formed government Nationalized many businesses owned by immigrants & so many lost their business & jobs, same was with my family where my uncles lost jobs & were in a state of crisis, my father was very young then probably 8-9 years old. He was born in Maymyo (now Pyin Oo Lwin).
The best option was to return back to India where they had some relatives in and around Kolkata. So, then it became a herculean task for my grandfather & grandmother to gather whatever they could accompanied by 6 children (5 of them minor) gathered some help from friends & other resources,
reached Rangoon (now Yangon) where they stayed at Durga Bari, Yangon. Stayed in Yangon for a week or two, got every one passport done from Indian Embassy in Yangon & landed in Kolkata.

To cut it short, this trip was dedicated to my father & my aunt. Seriously they were behaving like kids when they got to visit their school in Lashio, walking in same neighborhood made then teary eyed. For me it was a experience of a lifetime, we had almost covered the whole of Myanmar.
Starting off from Yangon, we went to Kyaiktyo- looked for all the Buddha status inside a cave & the floating golden rock up the mountain, we then went to Taungoo & Inle Lake, got mesmerized by the vastness of the lake & amazed by the simple lifestyle of the Intha people. Straight away we went to
Mandlay, moving forward to Lashio & Pyin Oo Lwin. On way way returning to Yangon we went to Bagan, didn't get to see the sunrise over the thousands of small pagodas. which gives a reason to go back again.

All in all the the food the people has caught me so much that have already started making a road trip plan starting from Kolkata all the way to Bangkok through the amazing land of Myanmar....

[EngSub] ???????? Last Day in Pyinoolwin | ပြင်ဦးလွင်မြို့ရဲ့ အကြီးဆုံး မြို့မဈေးကြီး

Today is our last day in Pyinoolwin. Actually there is only half a day left to visit in Pyinoolwin, because we need to move to Mandalay at noon. So we went shopping at Myoma Central Market which is the biggest local market in Pyinoolwin. Then we visited to the Purcell Tower. The tower was built in 1936 and the clock was one of the few made in 1934 by Gillete and Johnson Co. of England.

If you enjoy it, please subscribe, like and share with your friends.
Please leave a comment if you want to know any information about traveling in Pyinoolwin.
Thank you so much for your support.

Pyin Oo Lwin (credit - Wikipedia)

The town began as a military outpost established near a small Shan village with two dozen households[2] on the Lashio-Mandalay trail between Nawnghkio and Mandalay. In 1897, a permanent military post was established in the town and later, because of its climate, it became a hill station and the summer capital of British Burma. The establishment in Burma (civil, commercial and military) would move to Maymyo during the hot season to escape from the high heat and humidity of Rangoon. During British rule and through the 1970s, Maymyo had a large Anglo-Burmese population, but this steadily declined. During the Japanese occupation, as many Anglos were concentrated in and around Maymyo, the Japanese incarcerated many of them for fear of their loyalty to the British very close to Maymyo. Today, Maymyo still has one of the larger populations of Anglo-Burmese in the country. The British named the location Maymyo, literally 'May's Town' in Burmese, after Colonel May, a veteran of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and commander of the Bengal Regiment temporarily stationed in the town in 1887.[2][3] The military government of Burma renamed the town Pyin U Lwin, the word-for-word Burmese transcription of the Shan City (ဝဵင်း, Weng⁴) of Paang²uu⁴ (ပၢင်ႇဢူး).

The area is also the site of the decisive battle of Maymyo where the Burmese royal army under Maha Thiha Thura defeated the Chinese Army in the third invasion during the Sino-Burmese War of 1765–1769.
