Harpers Ferry, WV - Most Beautiful Town in the US?
Another contender for the most beautiful town in the USA. Visiting the small 19th century town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia is literally like stepping through a time portal and walking into history. It's been immaculately preserved or in some cases, reconstructed. It's super small, with less than 300 full time residents, but there's plenty to see and do. Just walking around town and seeing the beautiful architecture, shops, and restaurant is fun enough, but the nature in Harpers Ferry is also amazing!
It's located at approximately the halfway point of the Appalachian Trail and there's hikes all around town. You can hike to get views overlooking the town and it's amazing to see from above. It's located at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers and is surrounded by rocky cliffs, and both a car bridge over the river and a railroad trestle. Kayaking and rafting the river is another popular pastime in the area.
It's also located right where three states meet, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia. But only the lovely, underrated state of West Virginia really gets to claim this charming gem. Another thing I love about Harpers Ferry is that it's beautiful to visit in any season.
If you haven't been to visit yet, I highly recommend it. It's a must do for anyone traveling on the east coast.

We analyzed cities in Virginia with a population of more than 5,000 using the latest FBI crime data.

You can see all three states, and the town by hiking up the Maryland Heights Trail. We visited historical Harpers Ferry on a crisp fall day in October and spent 24 hours seeing the sites and hiking the Maryland Heights Trail to get an overview of the town.

We know NOTHING about wine. I think between us the most sophisticated bottle of wine we’ve tasted before this video was a bottle of Barefoot. That said, we’re going to spend the weekend exploring 3 of the best wineries around Charlottesville, tour some vineyards, go on some wine tastings and try and NOT look like complete novices. Hint. We definitely looked like novices.
Pippin Hill farm and vineyard is unique in its own right amongst nearby vineyards because here you can pair great tasting wines with amazing farm-to-table cuisine.
Eastwood Farm and Winery is a women-owned and family-operated, and just five minutes from the campus of University of Virginia. Eastwood has two tasting rooms and a wonderful outdoor area on 77+ acres.
King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia just fifteen minutes from Charlottesville. When you visit king family vineyard, it’s pretty much a two-day event. First, we’re here for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the wine here is made from start to finish. Next we’ll come back for the polo matches on Sunday.
Virginia Wine County may not have the recognition of other areas known for wine like Napa and Sonoma, but it still holds its place firm in the history of wine in the US. If you had to guess where wine originated from in the US, you’d probably guess California right? Well, although California is the largest wine producer in the US, producing over 84% of all U.S. wine production and 4,391 wineries, it's Virginia that is actually known as the birthplace of wine in America!
After colonists settled Jamestown, each male colonist was required to plant and tend 10 grapevines. 150 years later, Thomas Jefferson set aside 2,000 acres near his Monticello estate to plant a vineyard. Jefferson proved to be the country’s first real champion of wine, despite unsuccessfully producing any himself.

Exploring Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia | Maryland Heights Overlook + historic sights!
We have made it to Harpers Ferry, the easternmost town in West Virginia, situated at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. The town was an important site during the Civil War and we spent the day exploring the beautiful historic buildings and doing a “sunrise” hike to the Maryland Heights Overlook, which overlooks the town across the river. It was such a fun day getting to walk back in time!

In today's video we'll take a look at 4 of the best neighborhoods in all of Newport News. These are great for anyone moving to Newport News, whether you're PCSing to Langley AFB or Fort Eustis, or taking a new job at Riverside Hospital, Ferguson, or the Shipyard. The area surrounding Christopher Newport University is often referred to as the most desirable section of Newport News. These neighborhoods tend to be filled with residents who plan to call the area home for many years, but that doesn't mean they're not perfect for anyone who knows they're only here for several years.
