Fuerteventura tour in 10 minutes - What is Fuerteventura like?

Fuerteventura tour in 10 minutes - What is Fuerteventura like?

If you are thinking of having a holiday in Fuerteventura Canary Islands and are wondering what Fuerteventura is like this may help. Well hopefully this video will help you decide where to stay in Fuerteventura and once you are here, what to see in Fuerteventura Spain. As you will see, Fuerteventura beaches are the best beaches in the Canary Islands, even the best beaches in Europe.

We start the tour in the north of Fuerteventura and move south.

1. Corralejo Dunes - from the air and from my favourite road in Fuerteventura. Then the dunes beaches themselves.

2. Corralejo town - from the air and then the town beaches and the high street. What is Corralejo like -

3. Isla de Lobos - this is a small island off of Corralejo which you can travel to on a small ferry, a glass-bottomed boat or on a Catamaran trip. Full catamaran trip -

4. El Cotillo - my personal favourite place in Fuerteventura. El Cotillo lighthouse starts it off and then after flying over the beaches we visit them and then see some of the rest of El Cotillo. What is El Cotillo like - also check out my website for all information about El Cotillo.

5. Betancuria - after visiting the viewing point at Mirador Morro Velosa we then head into Betancuria which was the original capital of Fuerteventura. It is a very pretty little town. A tour of Betancuria -

6. Caleta de Fuste - after a quick flyover you will see some of the beaches, hotels and other parts of Caleta. Caleta is very popular with British tourists. What is Caleta like -

7. Ajuy Caves - Ajuy is on the rugged west coast and is worth a visit and a walk along the cliffs to the sea caves. Caves video -

8. Costa Calma, Jandia and Morro Jable - The Jandia peninsular has many glorious beaches all along its length from Costa Calma, past Sotavento beach to Morro Jable. A walk around Morro Jable -

9. Cofete - This is probably the least visited part of Fuerteventura even though it has a very long beautiful beach. The bumpy track to get to it is probably the reason. There is a small cafe in the village and that is it - apart from Villa Winter which has a rumoured past involving senior nazis at the end of WW2. The scary road to Cofete -

Hopefully you enjoy this Fuerteventura guide and now have a better idea of the things to do in Fuerteventura and some of the Fuerteventura attractions. You may also have a better idea of where to stay in Fuerteventura.

Remember it is Fuerteventura, not Feurteventura or Fuertaventura, and it is pronounced roughly as Fwertaventura

PUERTO DEL ROSARIO - FUERTEVENTURA - 2022 4K

A stay in Fuerteventura wouldn’t be complete without visiting its capital, Puerto del Rosario. The city has been the capital of Fuerteventura since 1860, when it replaced the town of Betancuria. Since then, it has gradually grown to become the main city on the island, home to the island’s different institutions, as well as the airport and the port, the main routes of entry for people and goods.

Despite being a relatively modern city, its origins can be traced back to a hamlet known at the time as Puerto Cabras. Construction of the port in the late eighteenth century brought about the emergence of various populated areas, which became municipalities in the early nineteenth century. These days, Puerto del Rosario is a dynamic capital with around 40,000 inhabitants that stands out for its cultural activities, festivals and beaches.

We are still in Phase 2, so show you around Playa Chica, Las Rotundas Shopping Centre, the city centre and provide information on how to visit for the day. We start at the bus station and let you know which bus to take from Caleta de Fuste or Corralejo.

Puerto del Rosario isn't really a tourist destination but there are several things to do and see here which make it worth a day trip. Even during lockdown de-escalation there is a lot of activity from locals and most of the shops, bars and restaurants are open.

Another update showing our life in Fuerteventura during lockdown in 2020. We live just outside Caleta de Fuste and retired early here 2 years ago.

On Monday 25th May 2020 Fuerteventura entered Phase 2 of lockdown de-escalation. There is a much larger list of things we can now do, with these being the ones that are most relevant to us-
Phase 2 allows small social gatherings of up to 15 people.
Restaurants can open their inside space to a maximum of 50% capacity
Beaches can open with 2m social distancing observed
Shopping Centres can reopen with shops allowed 40% capacity
Exercise time slots relaxed, with activity allowed anytime expect between 10am-12noon and 7-8pm which is reserved for over 70's.

PUERTO DEL ROSARIO Walking Tour || Fuerteventura - Canary Islands |4k|

PUERTO DEL ROSARIO Walking Tour, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.
Puerto del Rosario is a town and a municipality in the eastern part of the island of Fuerteventura in the Las Palmas province in the Canary Islands. It has been the capital of Fuerteventura since 1860. The town's population is 29,160 (2013), the administrative district's (municipio de Puerto del Rosario) population is 36,744 and its area is 289.95 km².
Originally known as Puerto de Cabras (Port of the Goats), Puerto del Rosario was initially of little political importance on the island, living in the shadow of the ancient capital Betancuria. It had long been a fishing settlement and benefited from a sheltered natural harbour. The Atlantic Navigator, written in 1854, describes the town then known as Cabras as the main port, but goes on to describe it as an insignificant place. The Atlantic Navigator describes the makeshift landing area for shipping as indifferent, while calling the beach of shingles where ships anchor as even worse. It was this status as the central port of the island that saw it become the capital of the island in 1860, taking that honour from Antigua. The port was popular for shipping goats and this is where its original name came from. However, in 1957, it was decided that the name Cabras was not suitable. A more attractive name was selected and Puerto de Cabras was renamed Puerto del Rosario (rosary port).
During the 1960s there was rural and urban migration from the smaller villages and farm areas of the island into Puerto del Rosario. The population grew in these years. Further population growth occurred in 1976 when, due to the decolonisation of the North African territories like the Spanish Sahara, the Spanish Foreign Legion made Puerto del Rosario their base.

Walking in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura ????????

✨Puerto del Rosario ✨
Second vlog of the island! ????️
Puerto del Rosario was once a fishing village and became the capital city of Fuerteventura in 1860 ???????? Tourism has been growing since the 60s, and now this is perfect spot to be surrounded by nature, relax and recharge the batteries.
In this vlog I will walk around town and will show you what I find on the way, such as:

- Playa Chica (120 m) an urban lovely beach with clear and clam water ????
- The big letters close to it (perfect photo spot ????????)
- The oven of the family Morales built in 1830 and used for the production of lime, needed as a material for hydraulic infrastructures;
- Some of the many statues (more than 50) you can find in town
- The natural skeleton of a 9 m long juvenile female of a Bryde’s whale ???? found floating dead in 2006
- Street art

I was there on October 7th, which was the city bank holiday (fiesta en honor a Nuestra Señora del Rosario)????, so everything was closed! I had no idea (I should have checked though!), I realised it as I was told during the day and when I saw the procession ????

The tour of the island has just started by the way, stay tuned for more to come!

Fuerteventura | Puerto del Rosario - The Island Capital City

Around 5 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Caleta de Fuste and half an hour south of Corralejo, the Island Capital of Puerto del Rosario is very centraly located.

Since 1860, this has been the capital of Fuerteventura, following Antigua and Betancuria. Originally known as Puerto de Cabras (Port of the Goats), Puerto del Rosario was fairly unremarkable and insignificant, good for little besides exporting goats.

In 1960's people starting migrating from rural areas to the capital, followed by another population increase in the 1970's due to decolonization of Northern Africa, making Puerto del Rosario the new home of the Spanish Foreign Legion.
