The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes that lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain, where the remains of the apostle Saint James are believed to be buried.
The Camino Via de la Plata, which translates to Way of the Silver in English also is known as the Southern Way. It begins in the ancient city of Seville and passes through the regions of Andalusia, Extremadura, and Castilla y Leon and is known for its beautiful landscapes, rich history, and cultural significance and offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land and with oneself, as well as with other travelers along the way.
People have been walking the Via de la Plata for millennia as it started out as a Roman trading route. You will be constantly reminded that you are on the original route that joined the cities of Merida and Astorga, from the old roman road surfaces you walk on, to seeing the old roman millenario mile markers columns that used to mark the way.
Whilst the VLP officially ends in Astorga, most pilgrims follow the arrows down the Camino Sanábres to Santiago via Ourense as I do in this video.

???????? TORREÓN, MEXICO - Welcome back to Torreón, Coahuila, one of my favourite cities in Mexico! This is Part 24 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Northern Mexico, previously filming 2 videos in Torreón in 2021, in addition to Durango, Nombre de Dios, Puente de Ojuela, Matamoros, Gómez Palacio and Lerdo. An INCREDIBLE area of Mexico!
Torreón can often be seen as just another regular, industrial city without the history of central and southern Mexico. Yes, it’s a younger city, but that doesn't mean it doesn’t have interesting history or decent food. In fact, the comida Mexicana (Mexican food) I’ve had here is the BEST I’ve had in Mexico (I’m not even joking!).
We visit Bosque Venustiano Carranza, Casa Ricardo Montalbán, Casa del Cerro, Museo del Ferrocarril (insane), and old classics Mercado Alianza, Paseo de Morelos, the Teleferico and Cristo de la Noas! Dios Mío! As you can see, there are so many things to do in Torreón!
You’re treated like a local in Torreón; there are very few tourists so you’re treated like a local… trust me - Something you cannot experience in a tourist area. People from Torreón are, as I say, ICONIC!
If you’re thinking of becoming expats in Mexico or moving to Mexico, you don’t have to move to San Miguel de Allende or Guanajuato. Somewhere like Torreón may not be traditionally ‘pretty’, but it still has a tremendous amount to offer!

Via de la Plata – Section 5: This section of the Camino de Santiago, along the Via de la Plata, starts in the small town of Carcaboso in the North of Extremedura and takes walkers to Salamanca city, renowned for its Renaissance architecture and its UNESCO-listed Old Town. This is one of the most beautiful sections of the Vía de la Plata, passing lakes and mountains, and offering pilgrims the chance to taste great food (Pata Negra ham amongst many other things) and enjoy the best bird-watching in Spain! On this Camino section you will discover many different landscapes: forests, farmland and vast plains as well as crossing the stimulating (but not challenging) Dueña mountain range, one of the Vía de la Plata highest points (at 1140m).

Mombuey - Lubián. Hoy se nos presenta una completa etapa salpicada de numerosos pueblos, entre ellos, el histórico Puebla de Sanabria. También afrontamos el alto de Padornelo que nos hace alcanzar los 1340 metros de altitud. Liebres y conejos serán pequeños protagonistas al principio y al final de la etapa.

*Cómo llegar a Teotihuacán
-Puedes llegar en auto, transporte público o contratando un Tour.
En Tour:
El Tour oficial es operado por Turitour y es el que mostramos en el video, está muy completo por que incluye transporte, entradas, guía, comida y degustación de mezcal, es excelente sobre todo si vienes de fuera y quieres conocer la zona arqueológica sin complicaciones.

En auto:
Hay que tomar la Autopista México Pachuca y salir a la izquierda en el entronque con la carretera de Cuota San Juan Teotihuacán, se hacen aproximadamente 45 minutos, el camino tiene peaje.
En Transporte Público:
-En la central del norte salen unos autobuses que te acercan, son de segunda clase, no muy recomendables a menos de que tu presupuesto sea limitado.
*Qué visitar en Teotihuacán
-Los 4 lugares imperdibles son la pirámide del sol, la de la luna, el templo a Quetzalcoatl, y el Palacio de Quetzalpapálotl, que son los sitios que mostramos en el video, sin embargo hay muchas más cosas que ver, puedes pasarte el día entero visitando éstos lugares y el museo de sitio, recorriendo la calzada de los muertos, y explorando cada ruina que te encuentres.
*Paseo en globo por encima de las pirámides.
-Es una de las experiencias más impresionantes que hemos vivido en nuestros viajes y algo que vas a recordar toda la vida, el paseo tiene un costo de $2,999 por persona, y sale desde la Catedral a las 6:15 am todos los Sábados y Domingos, escogimos ésta compañía por que el precio incluye seguro de viajero.
*Qué comer en Teotihuacán
-Si vas en el Tour, no te tienes que preocupar por esto, pero si vas en auto o en transporte público, verás que saliendo de la Zona Arqueológica hay muchísimas personas ofreciéndote que vayas a comer a su restaurante. Una opción es el Restaurante El Ranchito, muy típico de Teotihuacán o si tienes ganas de comer en un lugar espectacular, acude al Restaurante La Gruta Teotihuacán, es caro pero bueno.
*Cuándo ir a Teotihuacán
-Cualquier día del año está abierto, siendo los domingos el día de la semana con mayor afluencia en visitantes, eso si, te recomendamos subir las pirámides temprano para que el rayo del sol no te agobie demasiado.

Section 6 of the Camino de Santiago along the Via de la Plata starts in the stunning city of Salamanca, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1988. The walk is dominated by flat cultivated land and red earth tracks stretching as far as the eye can see. The first few walking days are relatively short but the last walking day to Zamora is a bit longer and therefore a bit more challenging. However, anybody with a reasonable fitness level can do it! This Camino section finishes in Zamora, known locally as “little Salamanca” for of its architecture and rich heritage. Zamora has 24 Romanesque churches, the highest number in Europe.

The Parador is located in the former Convent of San Francisco, in 800 meter distance from the historical centre of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. After the whole building complex has been remodeled, the Parador now is located in the former pilgrim hostel. Because its location and the undoubted cultural values, the Parador is the ideal starting point for walking and hiking in the open nature.
The building is formed by three clearly different segments: the church, the workshop-museum and the hostel. In this third segment is the Parador located after the building has been remodeled. Because the Parador is located in the heart of the Saint James Way, it is an ideal starting point for tourism in the open nature and rural areas, and visitors can do sports like golf or hiking, or even enjoy the ski resort of Valdezcaray.
The decoration of the Parador is full of contrasts, with reddish copper tones and bluish grays, with paintings with religious themes and modern graphic arts. In the restaurant, we constantly thrive to recover the roots of the cuisine of La Rioja and look for new possibilities, with simple presentations and tasting menus to share. The wine card recommends the visitors the most innovative proposal of this area.
