Kiel is the capital and most populous city in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, with a population of 240,832 (June 2014).
Kiel lies approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Hamburg. Due to its geographic location in the north of Germany, the southeast of the Jutland peninsula, and the southwestern shore of the Baltic Sea, Kiel has become one of the major maritime centres of Germany. For instance, the city is known for a variety of international sailing events, including the annual Kiel Week, which is the biggest sailing event in the world. The Olympic sailing competitions of the 1936 and the 1972 Summer Olympics were held in Kiel.
Kiel has also been one of the traditional homes of the German Navy's Baltic fleet, and continues to be a major high-tech shipbuilding centre. Located in Kiel is the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR) (de) at the University of Kiel. Kiel is an important sea transport hub, thanks to its location on the Kiel Fjord (Kieler Förde) and the busiest artificial waterway in the world, Kiel Canal (Nord-Ostsee-Kanal). A number of passenger ferries to Sweden, Norway, Russia, and other countries operate from here. Moreover, today Kiel harbour is an important port of call for cruise ships touring the Baltic Sea.
Kiel was one of the founding cities of original European Green Capital Award in 2006. In 2005 Kiel's GDP per capita was €35,618, which is well above Germany's national average, and 159% of the European Union's average.
Within Germany and parts of Europe, the city is known for its leading handball team, THW Kiel. The city is home to the University of Kiel (established in 1665).
The name of the city is most likely derived from the wedge form of its bay (Keil in German)

Über fast 100 Kilometer verbindet der Nord-Ostsee-Kanal die Nordsee und die Ostsee. Mein liebster Aussichtspunkt am Kanal um Schiffe zu gucken ist FISCHERHÜTTE. Hier gibt es eine Fähre und einen kleinen Imbiss.

Route: Diese Tour führt uns auf unterschiedlichsten Wegen in die schöne Hansestadt Lübeck. Sie verläuft auf einem ehemaligen Bahndamm, einspurigen Wegen die Teilweise asphaltiert sind, Wanderwegen, aber auch auf Geh- und Radwegen an Landesstraßen entlang. Leider gehören die letzten rund 15 Kilometer auch zu den letzteren. Aber es gibt auch wunderschöne Abschnitte bei diesem Pilgerweg. Buen Camino!
This tour takes us in a variety of ways to the beautiful Hanseatic city of Lübeck. It runs on a former railway embankment, single-lane paths that are partially asphalted, hiking trails, but also on footpaths and bike paths along country roads. Unfortunately, the last 15 kilometers also belong to the latter. But there are also beautiful sections on this pilgrimage. Buen Camino!

WANDERN bei PREETZ in die Nähe von PLÖN auf dem E1 TREKKING
Es fängt sehr schön an.
Führt dann aber auf Asphalt weiter mit einem Abstecher zu einem Pfad und später zu einem Betonspurweg.
Und wird dann ab dem Trammer See sehr vielseitig, mit einem Pfad und sehr vielen Aussichtspunkten in Richtung Plön.
Am 31. August 2021 abgewandert.

【4K】 Preetz Abbey - A Walk around the former Benedictine Nunnery with new Lumix GH6 Camera
A comfy tour around the old Preetz Priory in northern Germany on an early spring morning.
Come along on a nice walk through this monastery area in the heart of the town of Preetz with many historic houses and beautiful impressions.
Also this is my first video with the new Lumix GH6 and I'm still learning and practicing with the camera, so please don't expect perfect cinematic camera work yet :)

Es ist soweit! Nachdem die alte Besucherplattform auf dem berühmten Königstuhl letztes Jahr für immer geschlossen hat ( wurde nun feierlich die neue Aussichtsplattform eröffnet. Der sogenannte Königsweg führt als schwebender Skywalk über den Kreidefelsen. Aufgenommen am: 22.04.23

Во время карантина очень сложно сидеть дома, особенно если вы большие любители путешествовать. Нашу семью карантин застал на севере Германии в краю озер и плохой погоды. Поскольку мы не привыкли сидеть дома в свободное время вы пытаемся компенсировать отсутсвие привычных путешествий по Европе путешествиями по близлежащим городкам. Стоит отметить, что о большинстве из них многие даже не слышали, однако при наличии возможности всегда здорово увидеть что-то новенькое, познакомиться с историей и архитектурой. Архитектура северной Германии разительно отличается от архитектуры Южной Германии и в первую очередь отсутствием пряничных фарверковых домиков. С другой стороны красно-кирпичная архитектура северных городов определенно имеет свой шарм. Ну и как представителям славянского племени нам определенно интересно побывать на родине западных славян.

Городок Прец расположен в самой северной земле Германии - Шлезвиг-Гольштейн недалеко от города Киль. Население Преца составляет около 16 000 жителей, но при этом он является самым крупным городом в районе Плен.
Название города происходит от славянского po rece (т.е. по реке).
