Then add in the award-winning Falls Park with its breathtaking Reedy River Falls and gravity-defying Liberty Bridge, and there’s no question to why Greenville gets ranked as one of the best small cities in America by Condé Nast year after year! Greenville is a city in South Carolina. It’s home to the Greenville County Museum of Art, with works by Southern artists spanning several centuries. Multi-use trails wind around lakes and hills in Paris Mountain State Park, north of the city.
Greenville is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a physiographic province of the larger Appalachian Mountains range, and includes many small hills. Sassafras Mountain, the highest point in South Carolina, is in northern Pickens County, less than 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Greenville. Many area television and radio station towers are on Paris Mountain, the second most prominent peak in the area, 8 miles (13 km) north of downtown Greenville.
Greenville has been described as Athens, Georgia for adults. It is the county seat of and largest city in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. Greenville is also the center of the largest metropolitan area of South Carolina. Columbia, Charleston, and North Charleston have more people, but the urban area around Greenville is larger. With its historic homes and modern office towers, Greenville has been described as where Old South meets New South.
As the largest city in the Upstate, Greenville offers many activities and attractions. Greenville's theaters and event venues regularly host major concerts and touring theater companies. Four independent theaters present several plays a year. A lot to see in Greenville South Carolina such as :

Pretty Place - Symmes Chapel - Outdoor Chapel with Stunning Views - YMCA Camp Greenville
Fred W. Symmes Chapel, also known as Pretty Place, is the spiritual center of Camp Greenville. Symmes Chapel was constructed in 1941 and is owned by the YMCA Camp Greenville.
Symmes Chapel is known as Pretty Place because of the breathtaking views. Pretty Place has become popular and can get crowded. I arrived around 9:45am on a weekday and by 10:30am there was a large crowd of people enjoying the view. Despite the crowd it was still a location of peace and serenity.
Pretty Place is located near Caesars Head State Park so this would be a great stop if you are visiting Caesars Head and/or Bald Rock Heritage Preserve.
Be sure to check the Pretty Place public visitation schedule before your visit to ensure Symmes Chapel will be open when you arrive! They are often closed for Private Events such as Weddings at Pretty Place. The note on their website says The chapel visitation schedule changes daily and sometimes hourly. We recommend checking the online visitation schedule the evening before or the morning of your visit to ensure it is open to the public. Even then, we can not guarantee that it will be available.
