Jaén is a Spanish municipality of the autonomous community of Andalusia, capital of the homonymous province. It holds the title of Very Noble and Very Loyal City of Jaén, Guardian and Defense of the Kingdoms of Castile and is known as the capital of the Holy Kingdom .
Due to its location, Jaén has had great strategic importance, with several of the oldest human settlements in Europe having been found in its urban core.
The most important economic activity in the province of Jaén is the production of olive oil , being the largest producer in the world, which is evident under the motto that the city receives, as «World Capital of olive oil»
Among its historical-artistic heritage, it is worth highlighting the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, the castle with its three fortresses, the Arab Baths , the International Museum of Iberian Art and the emblematic Monument to the Battles , located in the central Plaza de las Batallas. , which commemorates the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa and the battle of Bailén , both of which took place in the province of Jaén.

A Walk Around Baeza & Ubeda, Spain
Baeza, formerly also written as Baéza, is an Andalusian town in the province of Jaén in southern Spain. It lies perched on a cliff in the Loma de Úbeda, the range separating the Guadalquivir River to its south from the Guadalimar to its north. It is now principally famed for having some of the best-preserved examples of Italian Renaissance architecture in Spain. Along with Úbeda, it was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 2003. The former Visigothic bishopric of Baeza remains a Latin Catholic titular see.
Úbeda is a town in the province of Jaén in Spain's autonomous community of Andalusia, with some 36,025 inhabitants. Both this city and the neighbouring city of Baeza benefited from extensive patronage in the early 16th century resulting in the construction of a series of Renaissance style palaces and churches, which have been preserved ever since. In 2003, declared the historic cores and monuments of these two towns a World Heritage Site.

Ronda - een toeristische maar oh zo mooie stad in Andalusië
Ronda: een prachtige Andalusische stad, in tweeën is gesplitst door een diepe kloof. Is het toeristisch? Ja. Maar wel heel bijzonder.
Vanaf Marbella rij je in ongeveer een uur naar Ronda. Het begint met een flinke klim omhoog met, als je geluk hebt, uitzicht op Marokko en Gibraltar. Daarna kom je in een heuvelachtig landschap met veel wijn- en olijfgaarden.
Ronda is een van de ‘pueblos blancos’ oftewel de witte dorpjes waar Andalusië om bekend staat.
Wij beginnen de dag in het stadspark Alameda del Tajo, waar het heerlijk vertoeven is. Kinderen kunnen lekker spelen in de speeltuin en jij kan een drankje doen op het terras of genieten van de zon op een bankje. Aan het eind van het park sta je letterlijk aan de rand van de kloof en heb je een geweldige uitzicht!
Een stukje verderop loop je langs de Plaza de Toros, in deze stierenvechtarena kan je het museum bezoeken om meer te weten te komen over de geschiedenis van het stierenvechten en deze (oudste) arena van Spanje.
De trekpleister van Ronda is de beroemde brug Puente Nuevo. Een prachtig stukje geschiedenis, maar heeft ook een duistere kant. In de Spaanse Burgeroorlog martelden ze hier gevangenen en werden ze in het ravijn gegooid.
Vanaf dit punt is er nog zoveel meer in Ronda te ontdekken, het oude centrum ‘La Ciudad’ met kleine straatjes en witte huizen, de Arabische baden en de mooie tuinen ‘Jardines de Cuenca’. Daarnaast zijn er ook nog heel veel leuke en echt goede restaurants, wat ik niet echt had verwacht, én je kan er leuk winkelen. Wat wil je nog meer? Op naar Ronda!

Trip by the Archaeological Association of the Algarve to the Jaen area in Spain. On the way we passed by La Louisiana to visit the Roman bath. We stayed in Ubeda which is a World Heritage site with many Renaissance buildings.

Lovely Village house with internal courtyard. The house is located in the very pretty village of Mondrón,Nr Periana Andalucia. Mondron is a small village but has 2 bars, shops and a restaurant near. It is 10 minutes drive to the larger village of Periana which has more bars, restaurants, shops, banks and a large village swimming pool. It is also approximately 10 minutes drive to beautiful Lake Vinuela where you can sail or go fishing or swimming. The house has 3 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. There is a cool and shady internal courtyard and a roof terraces with spectacular views.
