La Cocha, Una Laguna Encantadora | Pasto, Nariño (Colombia)
Bienvenidos al Canal Emy's Curiosities.
La Laguna de la Cocha (Lago Guamués), se encuentra ubicada en el Corregimiento El Encano del Municipio de Pasto, Nariño (Colombia) a 2.760 m.s.n.m.
La Cocha es en realidad un lago y no una laguna, pues a diferencia de estas que sus aguas son estancadas, la Cocha no es así, pues sus aguas fluyen hacia un río, el Guamuez, y éste hacia el Río Putumayo y finalmente, al Río Amazonas, pero para efectos de conservar el nombre dado ancestralmente de Laguna (Cocha/Kocha, en idioma Quechua), continuó llamándose laguna.

Cocha's lagoon (Lake Guamués), is located in the El Encano district of the Municipality of Pasto, Nariño (Colombia) at 2,760 m.a.s.l.
La Cocha is really a lake and not a lagoon, because unlike those that its waters are stagnant, the Cocha is not like that, because its waters flow towards a river, the Guamuez, and this towards the Putumayo river and finally, to the Amazon river, but with the purpose of preserving the ancestral name of Laguna (Cocha / Kocha, in Quechua language), it continued to be called a lagoon.

Expedition to Bojonawi Natural Reserve in Colombia
Hello, I am Ivan #Mikolji, river explorer and audiovisual artist.
I am extremely proud to be part of the book BIODIVERSITY OF THE BOJONAWI NATURAL RESERVE.
My contribution to this wonderful book was to photograph the various species of flora and fauna found in the reserve. Show how they live underwater, in savannas and on granite outcrops.
We documented species that have never been photographed or filmed in their natural habitat.
As in all expeditions led by Carlos Lasso, he was accompanied by a highly qualified group of people, all working together for the conservation of the environment.
I have a motto that says: You cannot preserve something that you do not know exists, and these expeditions of the Humboldt Institute, the books, and all the educational materials that they produce align perfectly with my life mission.
I remember waking up very early in the morning to document the sunrise over the Orinoco River and I imagined how Alexander von Humboldt had passed through that same river, through that same place, in the year 1800.
I thought that now, 220 years later, we were in the same place, with the same vision, showing the world what we have to conserve.

Nariño is one of the 32 departments of Colombia and is located in the southwest of the country. Nariño is the only department that shares the Pacific Ocean ( the Amazon jungle ( and part of the Andes Mountains ( in its territory. In Nariño you find beach, mountains, canyons, volcanoes, lagoons and more.
The Encanto Andino Natural Reserve ( is located in Laguna de la Cocha ( in the department of Nariño and is dedicated to protecting and conserving the Azonal Paramo ecosystem. The Reserva Natural Encanto Andino has a great tourist offer for visitors, ecological trails, bird watching, healing and meditation tourism, restaurant service and accommodation.
Encanto Andino is a great place to support ecotourism in Colombia and enjoy a few days in the middle of nature.
