Dayton, Ohio is one Midwestern town that seldom gets the attention that it should. Less than an hour's drive north of Cincinnati and just 72 miles south of the state's capital, Columbus, Dayton is known for being the 'birthplace of Aviation'.
Even though as you probably learned in grade school, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was the location where the Wright brothers took their first inaugural flight in 1903, Dayton was the town that Orville and Wilbur called home. Everywhere you turn in Dayton, you'll find little bits of history directly related to the Wright's fascinating story.
Dayton's National Museum of the US Air Force was built in 1923. It has since become the largest military aviation museum in the world (it's also now the oldest), boasting more than 400 aircraft and missiles in its expansive collection.

Versailles, Ohio
Versailles is a beautiful small village in Darke County, Ohio. Founded in 1819 the village is named after the city of Versailles in France. The town hall was built in 1875 and is still in use today and placed on the National Register of Historical places. Versailles celebrates the heritage of the poultry producing industry, which dates back to the early 1900's. The New Hotel Versailles is quite impressive building from the outside, I'm sure it will be as equally impressive inside when finished.
Tipp City, Ohio
Tipp City is a city in Miami County, Ohio. Voted one of the Five Best Home towns in Ohio by Ohio Magazine. Formerly known as Tippecanoe City, this town was renamed in 1938. Tippecanoe City was founded in 1840. Dry Canal Locks can be seen just East of downtown. Tipp City is such a nice town, with a lot of energy.

Woodson County, Kansas, is located in the southeastern part of the state and was created 6 years before Kansas became an official state. It has lost almost 70% of it's population from it's peak over 100 years ago and we explore around the county to find out why. Part 1 is focused mainly on the eastern half of Woodson County and we find some really interesting places! I counted about 10 ghost towns and a bunch of unique cemeteries.

Sights and Sounds at Farrington Reserve
On two different days, I spent some time at Farrington Reserve in Miami County, Ohio, not too far from either Troy or Piqua. The reserve is part of the Great Miami River Recreation Trail. On the first day, I walked some of the trail and looked over the river. On the second day, I captured video and stills of the waterfall near the parking lot.
