Pierre offers tourists a peek into one of America's few National Guard Museums, the South Dakota National Guard Museum. Artifacts and records from the Dakota Military force and the Air National Guard are on display. Many fallen heroes are also honored in this Museum.
There is also the trail of governors, which is a trail of statues from the State Capitol grounds to downtown Pierre near the Missouri River, and these statues are bronze statues of past governors. Some of these governors have little notes on their statues providing information about who they were and when they governed the state. Aside from this, you can also visit the illustrious State Capitol, explore the Cultural Heritage Center or enjoy a hike and picnic at the beautiful Laframboise island.
