Harry Alonzo Longabaugh was born in Mont Clare Pennsylvania in 1876 to the parents of Josiah & Annie Longabaugh. During his childhood he lived in Phoenixville Pennsylvania until at the age of 15, when he left home to head out west to find work. His life of crime began in 1887 when he stole a gun, horse, & saddle only to be caught and locked up near Sundance Wyoming, thus how he acquired his alias. From there he lived a life of odd jobs a robberies becoming one if America’s most famous Wild West Outlaws. In 1908 the story goes that Harry was killed in gunfight after a robbery in Bolivia, but the bodies found were not able to be properly identified. Did The Sundance Kid actually die the day, or did he escape back to the United States? While filming the pilot episode for a show called Town Trekkers, ground penetrating radar was used around the graves of Harry’s parents at Morris Cemetery. A coffin shaped object was found to be buried in an unmarked area about two feet lower than the usual six feet depth. This was common practice for famous burials at the time to deter grave robbers. Could this be where the actual body of The Sundance Kid lies? Or is this just another bit of folklore to add to the already embellished life of Harry Longabough?
