Best Sailors Bar in the World!!!! - A visit to Cloggy's is one of the best things to do in Antigua!

Cloggy's by Luxury Locations Antigua. The Best Sailors Bar in the World!

Sam and Nadia Dyson of Luxury Locations Real Estate Antigua take time away from Antigua real estate to visit Cloggies restaurant and bar to enjoy a fantastic lunch and some great wine. This restaurant and bar was voted the best in the world by sailors around the globe.

Located in the heart of Falmouth Harbour on the south coast of Antigua is Cloggy's Bar and Restaurant.

Cloggy's is a favourite location for visitors and locals alike as the setting is relaxed but the service is exceptional and the food tasty and plentiful.

Relaxing on the upstairs outside balcony you can see the hustle and bustle of Falmouth Harbour with huge super yachts coming and going and stunning sailing boats everywhere. We enjoyed fabulous wine and delicious food whilst chatting and enjoying the view over this busy Caribbean harbour.

Cloggys is one of the top spots in Antigua for long lunches, romantic dinners and after dinner parties with exceptional drink and music. It has recently been voted the best Sailors bar in the world, and for very good reason.

We at Luxury Locations Antigua love Cloggy's, and we hope you get a chance to experience the kind hospitality of the owners Vanessa and Ton at their fantastic restaurant while traveling to Antigua and the Caribbean.

1952 A HISTORIC DESTINATION VIDEO OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority presents for the very first time in Antigua, the first known destination video produced about Antigua.

The 1952: Antigua destination video, features heritage buildings, familiar streets, the Hellsgate Steel Orchestra, Highlanders, the sugar factory, sea island cotton production, tourist sites such as the Nelson's Dockard, the Mill Reef Club and more.

The video was previously stored in a vault in England. Featuring actor and historian Mr. Jules Walter had previously mentioned the lost film to Cultural Envoy to Antigua and Barbuda Dr. Barbara Paca. Together they worked with the Tourism Authority and the British Film Institute in London to recover and bring the film to Antigua. Interestingly, Mr. Walter is featured in the film with his artist relation Frank Walter.

We have learnt that George Nugget Joseph of the Hellsgate Steelpan Orchestra is also featured within the video.

Antigua and Barbuda: World Travel Market in review

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) completed a triumphant week at London’s World Travel Market in November 2022.

Held annually, WTM is the world’s leading conference for the travel industry and takes place in London’s largest exhibition centre, the ExCeL. This three-day event welcomes over 50,000 exhibitors, buyers, media and industry professionals for a chance to network with members of the tourism community.

Kickstarting the busy week of events, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) hosted a WTM appreciation dinner onboard the Silver Sturgeon, an ode to the islands sailing roots, on Sunday 6th November. Embarking at Westminster Pier with over 200 valuable tourism partners, UK media, influencers, and friends of Antigua and Barbuda, the guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and drinks, concluding with a fantastic performance from Spirited Band – featuring legendary Antiguan cricketing Knights Sir Curtly Ambrose on the bass guitar and Sir Richie Richardson on the rhythm guitar.

The Antigua and Barbuda delegation was led by Mr. Colin C. James, ABTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Lorraine Raeburn, Chairperson, Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism UK & Europe and cricketing legends Dr. Sir Richie Richardson, Sir Andy Roberts and Sir Curtly Ambrose. Joining the team on-stand were partners: Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association, Wild Lotus, Blue Sea the Latin - American Traveller, Blue Waters Resort & Spa, Blue Diamond Resorts, Elite Island Resorts, Carlisle Bay, Hermitage Bay, Hodges Bay Resort & Spa, Inn at English Harbour and St. James Travel & Tours.

The Tourism Authority hosted meetings with over 30 UK and European tour operators, suppliers, and some of the UK’s most influential media focusing on the island’s 2023 news, hotel openings, increasing visitor numbers, and sustainability initiatives following the release of the Environmental Awareness Group’s ‘The Road to Redonda’ documentary. The lead of the ABTA Wellness Pillar – Ms. Tameka Wharton launched a new wellness directory as well as a wellness map, highlighting the best the islands have to offer for a relaxing, healthy and restorative escape. Partners are reviewed and approved by the Wellness Tourism Association.

Tuesday afternoon saw Spirited Band take to the stage again, this time on-stand at WTM, drawing in a large crowd and creating an all-round uplifting atmosphere.

Antigua has an amazing 365 beaches, giving visitors a different choice for every day of the year. Begin your exploration at Nelson's Dockyard. Part of a national park, it's the only existing Georgian naval dockyard in the world, built in 1725 and once England's most important naval outpost in the Caribbean. Along the waterfront, buildings are signposted with their dates of origin and former uses, from the Sawpit Shed to the Copper and Lumber Store. In the erstwhile Naval Officer's House, a museum gives the history of the area.

The dockyard comes alive in April with Antigua's annual Sailing Week. More than 1,500 sailors compete in this high-speed competition that makes a roundtrip from Dockyard to Dickenson Bay and back. April also features the Classic Yacht Regatta: traditional craft built of wood and steel make this a show that's more about beauty than speed. American Sailing Week is a June event filled with instructional clinics, races and day sails.

Antigua Barbuda Tourism

All the signs pointed towards Antigua. The island had warm, steady winds, a complex coastline of safe harbors, and a protective, nearly unbroken wall of coral reef. It would make a perfect place to hide a fleet. And so in 1784 the legendary Admiral Horatio Nelson sailed to Antigua and established Great Britain's most important Caribbean base. Little did he know that over 200 years later the same unique characteristics that attracted the Royal Navy would transform Antigua and Barbuda into one of the Caribbean's premier tourist destinations
