Parachinar - 6 Top Tourist Attractions of the Land of Chinars | Kurram Agency
Parachinar serves as the administrative hub of Kurram Valley, situated in the northwest and bordered by Afghanistan on three sides. The lofty mountain ranges of Koh-e-Safed act as a natural boundary between Afghanistan and Pakistan, often covered with snow annually. The name Parachinar originates from Para (Paarha), representing one of the tribes in the valley, and Chinar, denoting the plentiful chinar trees found in this area. The town was previously known as Tutki, and its residents were referred to as Tutkiwal.
Kurram is a district situated in the Kohat Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Formerly an agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), it transitioned into a district following the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2018. The predominant populace comprises Pashtuns, adhering primarily to Islam. Nevertheless, a minority populace of Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs also resides in District Kurram.
Various significant tribes inhabit the area, including the Bangash, Turi, Orakzai, Mamozai, Muqbil, Zazai, Paracha, Mangal, Ghilzai, Para Chamkani, Hazara, and Khoshi tribe, which is a Persian-speaking community.
Climate:
In valley, the summers are pleasant; the winters are freezing. Parachinar is ranked the forth coldest location is Pakistan.
Tourism Potential:
Parachinar is the less explored part of Pakistan where the majestic Koh-i-Safid slopes down to lush green plains, in the midst of which the Kurram River and other tributaries make their way. The land plagued with the scourge of sectarian violence in the past possesses great tourism potential; the need for tapping it is all the more pronounced.
While most of us look towards the summer, planning trips to places like Murree, Nathia Gali, Naran, Kaghan, Swat and Kalam that get overcrowded, why don't we take the chance to explore less travelled heavens like Parachinar and Ziarat as well.
Parachinar - The land of unimaginable beauty with untapped tourism potential is packed with loads of stunning sites (Chapri Bangla, Koh-e-Safaid base camp, Bag-e-Laila, Muhammadi Top, Kot Ragha Dam, Peiwar Kotal Pass (Gwai Pass), Maikay and Shalozan need to be seen to be believed.
However, due to paucity of time i was able to capture only 6 of these and the most enchanting Chapri Bangla and Laila Bagh were missed.

Pāṛachinār (Pashto: پاړه چنار; Urdu: پاڑه چنار), is the capital city of Kurram District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Parachinar is situated on a neck of Pakistani territory west of Peshawar, that juts into the Logar and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan. With a distance of 110 kilometres (68 mi) from the Afghan capital Kabul, Parachinar is the closest point in Pakistan to Kabul.
Koh-e-Sufaid (White Mountain) also located on the north side of Parachinar. Its called white mountain because it covers by snow all the time, which beautify the beauty of valley.

The name Kurram comes from the river Kurram, which flows along the valley. In the north it is surrounded by snow-covered or white mountains, the Safed Koh, locally known in Pashto as Spīn Ghar, which also forms the natural border with Afghanistan. Kurram Agency is just like a beak of a bird and is connected with three provinces of Afghanistan named as Khost, Paktia and Nangarhar (Tora bora). In this video I covered the most beautiful places of District kurram which was before Federally Administered Tribal Area but couple of years before its merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Climate of the valley remains pleasant most of the summer however in winters minimum temperature is usually below freezing point, occasionally mercury drop below -10 degree Celsius. Parachinar is ranked the fourth-coldest location in Pakistan.

Parachinar is a small but beautiful and lush green area which is the headquarters of Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. This area is located near the Pakistan-Afghan border to the west of Peshawar and is connected to Hangu, Kohat and Bannu on the Pakistani side by Thall Parachinar Road and on the Afghan side by the Pewar Gardez Road. With a distance of 110 km (68 mi) from the Afghan capital, Kabul, Parachinar is the closest point in Pakistan to Kabul.
In 1893, the Durand Line agreement was done between Afghanistan and the British rulers in Parachinar. The British were also very impressed by the beauty of Parachinar Valley & they built a resort which is called Chapri Resort or Chapri Banglow.
This area was a part of FATA, but after the 25th amendment in May 2018, FATA was included in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
There are many tourist spots and best places to visit in Para Chinar which one can visit and get lost in the scenery. Some of these attractive places include Maikay, Malana Dam, Shilozan Bagh E Laila, Mast Baba in Zeran and Chapri Bungalow. The green and tall trees, the lake and the clear water spring in Zeran Parachinar are nothing less than a blessing.
The highest peak of Koh E Safaid or Spin Ghar near Parachinar is Sikram on the Pak-Afghan border. There is also a sports complex, Parachinar airport, parachinar press, Markazi Imam Bargah parachinar, KMU Parachinar campus, The Knowledge City School & College and many more.

Malakyar is sitatuted in the North East of Parachinar, in the village Mulla Bagh. Parachinar is a city of district Kurram, Pakistan. Its a very beautiful hilly area, where people visit for enjoyment. Its a beautiful picnic spot. The water here is very cold even in summer season. June, July are the best months to visit this place.

This video is a collection of photos taken during trip to chapri rest house. We left Parachinar to Maikay then from Maikay we started climbing the hill towards Chapri rest house. There we reached in about 3 hours. Chapri is about 10K feet height. From chapri we went up to Bonday, which is further higher near white hill of Parachinar. Some poeple live at banday. We took milk from them and returned to chapri. We stayed there for one night. At night we enjoyed BBQ and beautiful chicken karahi. After that we enjoyed music throught night. I stayed up till midnight. In the morning we took breakfast and returned to Maikay. This was a beautiful journey.

Kunj Alizai is a very remote area in Kurram District. It is situated on the West South of Main Parachinar city. I with driver Akhlaq made a round trip from Parachinar to Kunj Alizai and then back to Parachinar. On the way we saw beautiful and attractive places.
