Walking in MEISSEN / Germany ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Meissen (Meißen) / Germany is a small northwest of Dresden in the state of Saxony. Meissen is famous as the home of Meissen porcelain. The of Meissen proximity to Dresden - around 25km or 30 minutes by train - makes it ideal for a day trip when traveling in the area.
We start our 1 hour walking tour of Meissen at the market square. There we see the the Gothic Meissen Cathedral and the Meissen Town Hall.
On this evening we walk all around the old town, see the Elbe river and even head out of the town center to judge the size a bit better. Back in the town we see a bit the Albrechtsburg which is Late Gothic and early Renaissance castle (1471-1495).
At last we explore some more quiet streets before we end our Meissen walking tour near the train station.

Colditz Castle (Schloss Colditz) Tour, Near Leipzig, Germany
A brief history and tour of Colditz Castle in the state of Saxony, Germany. This 16th century castle was notorious as Oflag IV-C, a German prison camp for Allied officer POWs during World War II. Many escape attempts were made, and prisoners sewed and dyed German uniforms to disguise their escapes. Most famous of all was the 2-man glider prisoners built in the attic to attempt to fly off the roof to freedom.

Oschatz Dollnitzbahn East Germany 30th July 2019
In November 1993 the newly founded Döllnitzbahn GmbH took over the remaining lines of the Mügeln railway network between Oschatz, Mügeln and Kemmlitz. The primary aim of the company was initially the preservation of the remaining goods traffic from the kaolin mine at Kemmlitz. For that purpose used narrow gauge goods wagons were bought from the Mansfeld mining railway and a new transshipment site to the standard gauge railway network was built in Oschatz. With the help of used PKP diesel locomotives, they succeeded initially in keeping the goods traffic going. In spite of this, the demand gradually fell so that goods services had to be closed in 2001. The Döllnitzbahn was the last narrow gauge railway in Saxony to run public freight services.
Today only school trains and steam-hauled 'specials' run on the Döllnitzbahn railway, e.g. for touristic purposes. There is a local private association responsible for the organisation of respective events.

The Dollnitzbahn was the last revenue earning 750mm narrow gauge railway in Saxony, closing to commercial traffic in 2001. It is currently operated as a tourist railway although its future is again in doubt. Located roughly midway between Leipzig and Dresden it runs approximately 13km from its junction with the standard gauge at Oschatz, through Mugeln (where the depot is located) to Gossen. The last commercial traffic was the transport of china clay from quarries at Kemmlitz.

Ostern 2018 nutzen wir, um nach Sachsen zu fahren, da dort mehrere Eisenbahnveranstaltungen stattfinden. In dem Film möchte ich über die Fahrt mit der Döllnitzbahn von Oschatz nach Kemmlitz filmisch berichten. In Nebitzschen teilt sich die Strecke. Geradeaus geht es nach Glossen, wo leider erst am Sonntag und Montag die Feldbahn fuhr. Links geht es nach Kemmlitz, wohin man seit ca. einem Jahr fährt. Der Zug war voll mit Familien mit Kindern, denn in Altoschatz-Rosenthal hatte der „Osterhase“ Ostereier für die Kleinen nicht gerade versteckt. Mir wollte man keine Schokoeier geben, obwohl ich versuchte klar zu machen, dass ich auch ein Kind bin.
Der nächste Höhepunkt ist der Alpakatransport ab der Haltestelle Thalheim.
Die beiden Tiere sind schon putzig, tun mir aber doch etwas Leid, wenn sie von einem Pulk von Menschen eingekreist werden und dann ständig begrapscht werden. Da ich der Einzige war, der richtig gefilmt hatte, ziehe ich den Film vor.

The train was full of families with little children, because in Altoschatz-Rosenthal the Easter Bunny had hidden Easter eggs for the little ones.
The next highlight is the transport of two alpacas in the train from the stop in Thalheim.
These two animals are cute, but I'm a bit sorry for them, because they are circled by a crowd of people and then constantly groped.

East German Narrow Gauge Berlin-Bad Doberan 1990
Filmed on an LCGB Tour led by Colin Miell in 1990 before unification. We visited all of the surviving East German narrow gauge lines. This first video shows the first 2 - Putbus - Gohren and Bad Doberan. I have done a light edit on this so it's a bit like slow TV and I'm sorry about the video drop outs - analog video was very prone to that.
