Carcamusa Recipe:
This dish, a meat and vegetable stew, has a good story behind it. Its name comes from a play on words about the types of clients that frequented the bar adding the two together; the “carcass” (a way of referring to old timers in some places), and the “musas” (young girls).
Take a look at the ingredients you will need: beef, jamón (Spanish ham), Spanish chorizo (dry-cured), tomato sauce, onions, peas, red peppers, garlic, white wine, meat broth, chili pepper, oregano, salt and pepper and paprika.
It is simple to make. Put the meat, onion, cut into large slices, the pepper cut into strips, a few cloves of garlic, the tomato sauce and a little pepper in a pot. Sauté these ingredients for fifteen minutes and then add the white wine. Stir the mixture a few times and add the meat broth. Cook on low for another 15 min., add the peas and let it cook for 10 more minutes.
In another pan, sauté the garlic cloves, chili pepper and paprika (be careful with these three ingredients because they burn very easily), then add this mixture into the pot with the other ingredients and let it boil.
An easy recipe, but it takes time, so be patient; and even more so because of an added circumstance… true fans of carcamusa say that the dish tastes better if you let it sit overnight.

Nº 10.- TEMPLE OF DEBOD
The Temple of Debod is the oldest building in Madrid, although it was not built in our city but in ancient Nubia, in southern Egypt, more than 2.200 years ago.
Also from the Temple of Debod you may find some of the best sunsets ever!
Nº 9.- PLAZA DE LA VILLA
In the Plaza de la Villa is the oldest civil building built in Madrid, it is the Tower and House of the Lujanes, a palace house of the XV century, Gothic-Mudejar style.
There are also two other emblematic buildings: the Casa de Cisneros, a Renaissance palace from the XVI century, and the Casa de la Villa, a baroque palace from the XVII century.
Nº 8.- PUERTA DE ALCALÁ
The ‘Puerta de Alcalá’ is one of the most popular symbols of Madrid. In addition to the monumental function, it served as gateway to the city until just a century and a half ago.
It is the first arch of triumph built in Europe, after the fall of the Roman Empire.
In neoclassical style, it was built in the XVIII century by direct commission of Carlos III.
Nº 7.- GREAT WAY (GRAN VÍA)
The ‘Gran Vía’ is one of the most emblematic streets of Madrid.
Started in 1910, it was settled, The ‘Great Way’ is the main artery of the heart of Madrid. It has many iconic buildings: Metropolis, Telefónica, Capitol and so on.
Nº 6.- CIBELES
The Plaza de Cibeles is one of the most well-known squares in Spain. It is currently located in the Palacio de Comunicaciones - ‘The Palace of Communications’, a beautiful eclectic building from the beginning of the 20th century. Current City hall.
In the center of the square is the famous Fuente de Cibeles ‘Cibeles Fountain’, which is the first of the five mythological fountains that form the Prado Hall, commissioned by Carlos III.

The Plaza Mayor of Madrid suffered 3 frightful fires, in the last of them only the ‘House of Bakery’ was saved, which served as a model for the reconstruction of the square.
The Plaza Mayor of Madrid during 2017 commemorates its IV Centenary, being in 1617 when it began to build, 400 years ago.

The Puerta del Sol is the heart of Madrid. Social meeting point in which life flows at any time of day or night.
From its beginnings in century XV, in this place have been directed some of the most important events of the history and the Spanish life.
This statue, the Statue of the Bear and the Madroño is famous for alluding to the official shield of the city of Madrid.
Also In Puerta del Sol we find the ‘Real Casa de Correos’ royal house of mail, where the locals meet to hear the chimes every new year.
Nº 3.- PALACIO REAL (ROYAL PALACE DE MADRID)
The Royal Palace and its surroundings are one of the must-see in Madrid.
The majestic building that we can contemplate today, dates from the middle of the XVIII century.
The neoclassical style clearly shows the taste for geometric and proportionate forms, typical of the architecture of enlightened despotism.
It is one of the largest palaces in the world.
It is currently open to the public as a museum.
It is surrounded by beautiful gardens (Campo de Moro, Sabatini Gardens and Gardens of the Plaza de Oriente).
From its surroundings we can enjoy spectacular sunsets.
Nº 2.- RETIRO PARK
Parque del Retiro is one of the most pleasant urban parks in the world.
It is ideal for pleasant walks, sunbathing and even paddling in the center of the city.
This park had its origin in the seventeenth century, as the second residence and place of rest Of King Philip IV. Places of recreation as peculiar as the Grand Lake of Retiro are iconic.

Santiago de Compostela is a Spanish city and municipality, capital of the autonomous community of Galicia. It belongs to the province of La Coruña.
The old city of Santiago has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. It stands out for being one of the three great pilgrimage centers of Christianity, along with Jerusalem and Rome, pointing out the tradition that the Apostle Santiago the Greater was buried there. . Of special artistic importance is its cathedral, dedicated precisely to the Apostle Santiago, and which is the destination of the hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from all over the world who complete the Camino de Santiago every year.
The municipality limits to the north with the municipalities of Valle del Dubra, Trazo and Oroso; to the south with Teo, Vedra and Boqueijón; to the east with El Pino; and to the west with Ames. In the immediate vicinity of the city is the Santiago de Compostela airport, the busiest in Galicia and the second in northern Spain, only behind Bilbao. Its fifteen-hundred-year-old University, ranked among the ten best in Spain, is also of great relevance.
Santiago and its metropolitan area with over 200,000 inhabitants.

Madrid Travel Guide | Spain
We had a quick layover in Madrid, so we packed as much as we could into four hours. We show you what to do and how to see it all, including where to eat the most amazing tapas and churros. Yum!
NOTE: We visited Madrid in the Spring of 2019, before Covid-19 changed everything. There's a lot of sadness and despair in the world right now, and we hope this video will bring a little smile to your face and joy to your day. Take care of yourself and your family. We hope you're healthy.

This is final day of our 10-day trip through Europe in 2018. See the whole trip, from Italy to Hungary to Spain, here:
We started out at the Royal Palace of Madrid, but if you're on a time crunch, there's just no way to fit this in with other activities. This would be the only thing you'd do all day because it takes at least a few hours. So instead, we visited the Catedral de la Almudena (Almudena Cathedral), which is right next to the Royal Palace. We grabbed tapas for lunch at Mercado San Miguel, churros and chocolate at San Ginés, and then explored Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Calle Gran Via, Retiro Park, and so many other things along the way. Here are some time stamps for the video along with some details about each place:
0:16 - The Royal Palace of Madrid. You can't take pictures or video inside the palace, so even if we could have gone in, we wouldn't have been able to include it in the video. It's impressive from the outside, which we show you, and you can catch a band and the changing of the guard on the East side by Plaza de Oriente.
1:41 - Almudena Cathedral. The cathedral is unique because it includes stained glass from vastly different art periods, including cubism and modern art alongside the more traditional windows. The colorful ceiling patterns and dome are also worth seeing, as they are different from any other church we've ever been in.
2:46 - Crypt of the Cathedral. Normally the crypt is a small part of the church under the raised portion of the nave where the alter sits. The crypt under the Almudena Cathedral is GINORMOUS. It spans the entire foundation of the church, has tall ceilings with massive pillars supporting the cathedral above, is well-lit, and features many impressive burial chambers and tombs. Seriously a must-see.
3:54 - Mercado San Miguel. Come here for lunch. The tapas range from 1 Euro to 5 Euros, and you'll be full by the time you hit 4 or 5 things, so it's not expensive at all. Wander around and buy one of everything that looks good. We tried a lot of things and they were all delicious.
6:13 - Sobrino de Botín. This is the oldest restaurant in the world. You can book 3 months in advance, but make sure you reserve your table at least the day before.
7:27 - Plaza Mayor. Not much to say here. Just cool to see all the balconies.
7:56 - Chocolatería San Ginés. This place has been serving churros and chocolate since 1894 and there's a reason it's been in business for over 100 years.
9:20 - Puerta del Sol. Center of Madrid. The plaque that we couldn't find is located on the sidewalk directly in front of the giant post office with the clock. The bear and the strawberry tree is on the east side.
10:29 - Calle Gran Via. This is a fancy street with incredible architecture on both sides. Good for a stroll to just take it in as you walk to the Prado museum or Retiro Park.
11:23 - Retiro Park. Huge park with lots of features, but we went specifically for the Crystal Palace, which did not disappoint.
