The city of Siegen lies in the basin of the upper reaches of the river Sieg. From there, lateral valleys branch off in many directions. The heights of the surrounding mountains, wherever they are not actually settled, are covered in coppice. To the north lies the Sauerland, to the northwest the Rothaargebirge and to the southwest the Westerwald.

Weiter geht es bei unserer Reise durch unsere schöne Republik - heute auf einen richtig tollen Campingplatz am Biggesee bei Olpe in NRW. Dabei ist nicht der bekannte 4 Jahreszeiten gemeint, sondern ein kleines Juwel in der Nachbarschaft - den Naturcamping Kessenhammer. Einen wirklich tollen Platz direkt am Wasser und fast schon im Wald. Wir waren hochzufrieden und geben einen dicken Daumen hoch!

An Imperial City which indeed became the City Of Party Rallies but which has never lost its benevolent spirit. Dresden is the capital of the German free state of Saxony, a major centre of culture with a remarkable history. Although almost completely destroyed at the end of the Second World War and for many years hidden behind the Iron Curtain, today the city shines out in all of its former splendour. Hamburg is a lively metropolis in the north of Germany and for many centuries was a gateway to the world and a work of art with many different faces. Each year on the seventh of May, Harbour Birthday is celebrated when people from all over the world gather within the various galleries of the landing stages to celebrate a huge festival. With its culture and many diverse and beautiful landscapes, Germany is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

Welcome back to the German Autobahn. This video is a continuation from my previous Autobahn video of the A45 to Olpe, which you can watch here:
The A4 to Köln is also quite a scenic and curvy stretch of Autobahn and runs through the Bergisch Land / Sauerland area East of Cologne. The A4 continues on as the Southern beltway of Cologne and then onto the city of Aachen on the border with the Netherlands in the West of Germany. A big part of the A4 through the heart of Germany is 'missing' as it stops just South of Olpe (beginning of this video) and picks back up at Bad Hersfeld in the East as it runs all the way to the Polish border at Görlitz in Saxony.

Welcome back to the Autobahn. In this video you can drive along on the A45 from Wetzlar to just South of Olpe. The A45 is a curvy Autobahn connecting the metropolitan area of Frankfurt am Main with the Eastern Ruhrgebiet. The Autobahn starts in Dortmund and ends near Aschaffenburg.
We are driving in the Northern direction and as you can see it's a stretch with many construction zones (Baustellen). Many bridges on this stretch of Autobahn need to be replaced and the Autobahn in general runs through a challenging landscape. Only some parts have a 2x3 alignment so it's definitely not the quickest way to get from the Frankfurt area into the Ruhrgebiet.
I made this video in the middle of the summer on a weekday evening as I was driving up North, explaining the fairly limited amount of traffic. I hope you enjoy this drive along accompanied with a nice sunset! Let me know what you think in the comments!
