Zikatar sanctuary / Զիկատար արգելավայր, Tavush Region, Armenia (Project JiJiLaKoloL)
Zikatar sanctuary is a specially protected area in Tavush, Armenia. It is one of the 26 sanctuaries of Armenia. Zikatar was formed on April 8,2010, and has an area of 150 hectares which occupies the north-western part of Tavush region. It is located in the northeastern slopes of the Dzigkatar peak of Gugarats mountain range, the upper parts of the basins of the right tributaries of the river Koghb. It is 1250-1650 m above the sea level. Zikatar sanctuary is located only 44 km away from village Koghb.
Zikatar reserve was established for the diversity of landscapes and biodiversity of forest natural ecosystems, unique natural monuments, natural development, conservation, protection, restoration, reproduction, as well as sustainable use of natural recreational resources. The objects of special protection of the sanctuary are the unique fauna and forest vegetation (flora) of the high mountain forest ecosystems of northern sloapes of Zigkatar peak.

Զիկատար արգելավայր, բնության հատուկ պահպանվող տարածք, Հայաստանի Տավուշի մարզում։ 26 արգելավայրերից մեկն է։ Կազմավորվել է 2010 թվականի ապրիլի 8-ին։ «Զիկատար» արգելավայրն ունի 150 հեկտար տարածք և զբաղեցնում է Հայաստանի Տավուշի մարզի հյուսիս-արևմտյան հատվածը՝ Գուգարաց լեռնաշղթայի Ձիգկատար լեռնագագաթի հյուսիսարևելյան լանջերը՝ Կողբ գետի աջափնյա վտակների ավազանների վերին հատվածները։ Ծովի մակարդակից բարձր է 1250-1650 մ։ «Զիկատար» արգելավայրը գտնվում է Տավուշի մարզի Կողբ գյուղից ընդամենը 4կմ հեռավորության վրա։ Զիկատար արգելավայրը ստեղծվել է Ձիգկատար լեռնագագաթի հյուսիս-արևելյան դիրքադրության լանջերի անտառային բնական էկոհամակարգերի լանդշաֆտային ու կենսաբանական բազմազանության, բնության եզակի հուշարձանների, բնական պաշարների բնականոն զարգացման, պահպանության, պաշտպանության, վերականգնման, վերարտադրության, ինչպես նաև բնական և ռեկրեացիոն ռեսուրսների կայուն օգտագործումն ապահովելու համար։ Արգելավայրի հատուկ պահպանության օբյեկտները Ձիգկատար լեռնագագաթի հյուսիսահայաց լանջերի բարձր լեռնային անտառային էկոհամակարգերի յուրահատուկ կենդանական աշխարհն ու անտառային բուսականությունն են։

From Yerevan to Tbilisi by taxi (June 2013)
In a taxi from Yerevan (Armenia) to Tbilisi (Georgia). We take the M1 to get out of Yerevan, heading north for Aragats Marz (province) on the M3, where we pass through Apnagygh. After the Pambak pass we arrive in Lori Marz (province), and drive through Spitak. This city was completely destoyed by an earthquake in 1988. Next we head for Vanadzor, the capital of Lori Marz, taking the M6. In this city you can see a lot of abandoned industries. Then we head north again, through the magnificent gorge of the Pambak river. We pass a few places: Tumanyan, Sanahin and the Alaverdi Copper Factory, before we arrive at the border with Georgia. Through the plains in South Georgia we arrive in Tbilisi, a city with a spectacular mix of ancient and modern achitecture.

Daarna gaan we weer naar het noorden, door de prachtige kloof van de Pambak-rivier. Via de vlakten in Zuid-Georgië komen we aan in Tbilisi, een stad met een spectaculaire mix van oude en moderne architectuur.

St Sarkis Church of Dovegh, Armenia - Դովեղի Սբ. Սարգիս Եկեղեցի
The St. Sarkis Church is situated in the Tavush district in Noyemberyan, 6 kilometers south of the border village of Dovegh. St. Sarkis Church is known as the Cross of Dovegh, and the church's healing interprets Dovegh as a demon healer, that is, a place where people could be healed of demons. And so interprets St. Sarkis's healing features. However, researchers believe that the village used to be called Davegh, and interpreted it as up.
Surprisingly, four churches in the Noyemberyan region are named after St. Sarkis. Dovegh Church, on the other hand, is a local favorite. It is tucked away in a nook of Tavush's unique beauty of dense forests. According to surviving records, the church is a 7th-century structure that was renovated in the 16th and 19th centuries A.D. The cross on the church's dome has also been consecrated in recent years.
Hiking can be set up from the village of Dovegh in the direction of St. Sarkis. After walking 5 kilometers through the Tavush forest, you will come across another magnificent piece of Armenian architecture. The hike from the village to the Church and back will be 10 kilometers long.
Because the church is located on a hill on the mountainside, the view from there is simply breathtaking; you can see the dense forests of Tavush in all their glory, as well as the city of Noyemberyan in the distance.
St. Dovegh’s Church of St. Sarkis was rebuilt in 1845-1849. A cross made by local residents was consecrated in 2021.

Armenia & Artsakh Road Trip Time Lapse
This is a complete road trip loop of Armenia and Artsakh which started and ended at the very same apartment complex of my dear friend and his family, in Yerevan, Armenia in 2015. I rode a Kawasaki KLR650 unguided and alone for 12 days and more than 2000 km. And I recorded in time-lapse fashion every inch of the road I drove; through rain and shine, paved and unpaved roads. This also includes the region of Artsakh and one of the northern routes which was under construction at the time.
While the road is always visible what might not be as clearly seen, is the friendships I made and the immensely enriching experiences I had. The Armenians are an incredible people filled with hospitality, generosity and knowledge and they treated me like an honored guest even when I shouldn't have been. I'm forever thankful for the people that helped me and that I met along the way.

A GoPro Hero 3 was used for the timelapse/hyperlapse.

Having limited disk space and resources on the road I had to make a decision to take timelapse pictures at greater intervals than I would have liked. As a result, the video is less smooth than typical timelapses/hyperlapses but no leg of the trip is missing.
The soundtrack is a fast Fourier transform (FFT) blur of a Duduk I bought at the Vernissage in Yerevan and later recorded.

This film shows a ride along the M4 motorway on a way from Yerevan, Armenia to Tbilisi, Georgia. It depicts a part of the road going along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near Voskepar village. The first section of the road shown in the movie ends on the small hill where a great view stretches toward the borderland of Armenia and Azerbaijan with picturesque Goyazan mount and Joghaz Water Reservoir. The second section of the road shown in the movie periodically gets under fire when hostility between two states rises. An abandoned and destroyed houses can be seen on the right hand.
