#oslofjord #oslo #norway #oslofjorden
Nesoddtangen is a village and the administrative centre of the municipality of Nesodden in Akershus, Norway.

Nesoddtangen is located on the tip of the peninsula between the inner Oslofjord (Indre Oslofjord) and its arm Bunnefjorden. It is situated 4 miles (7 kilometers) southwest of Oslo. It had 13,150 residents in 2021; about two thirds of the municipality's population. Of the working population in Nesoddtangen, more than 90% work in Oslo. Passenger ferries are the most used commuting transportation.

The name Nesoddtangen is a triple tautology, consisting of three parts, nes, odd and tangen, all being synonyms signifying a small cape or promontory.

Oslo City - Norway's busiest passenger ferry line, Oslo - Nesoddtangen - Oslo Harbour - attractions

We are in Oslo Harbour in Oslo Norway. I am filming 3 of the boats which operate Norway´s busiest passenger ferry line between Oslo and Nesoddtangen. In the beginning of the filming you may notice that I am filming right next to the Norwegian Royal Yacht called Norge (Norway). We start by zooming in on the passenger ferry Dronningen (MS Tide Queen) which is busy making it´s way in to Oslo harbour at its mooring at Aker Brygge the fashionable Oslo Waterfront living and shopping area of the harbor.

I then get a few closeup shots of Prinsen (MS Tide Prince) which is exactly the same kind of ferry as Dronningen and finally some footage of Kongen (MS Tide King) . These three passenger ferries can each carry 600 passengers and all three operate on the Oslo-Nesoddtangen route. Nesodden is a suburb that lies across the fjord of Oslo and this passenger ferry is apparently the quickest route between Oslo and Nesodden. The route between Aker Brygge - Nesoddtangen is called Line 601, and ferries bound for Nesodden depart from Tingvalla quay at Aker Brygge.

These ferries are all gas powered and where built by the French Ship Builder Aker Yards. Information about these passenger boats was difficult to find so if you know more about these passenger ferries please feel welcome to share your knowledge with us in the comments field.

Nesodden - Oslo's Nature Wonderland

Have you heard of Nesodden Oslo? Looking for things to do in Nesodden Oslo?

Swimming in Nesodden Oslo is one of the best things you can do there. The ferry to the Nesodden Peninsula is quick and easy.

Nesodden Oslo is great place to get away from the city.

Oslo Travel Guide: Things to do in Oslo as a Tourist

Top Sightseeing locations to visit in Oslo, Norway. Including Downtown Oslo, The Royal Castle, museums, Vigelandsparken, Holmenkollen, and more.

The exact locations are listed at the end of the description.

The Oslo Opera:

Do this one! The opera building is adjacent to the central station, and it's awesome. It's architecture is like walking on an iceberg, and it overlooks the Oslo fjord and Akershus Castle. Doesn't take much time.

Karl Johans gate:

The main walking street that connects Central Station (Oslo S) with the Royal Castle. I guess it's a must when you come to Oslo. You can't avoid it, and you shouldn't! Because it's the main street of Oslo. But Karl Johan is mostly for the tourists, beggars, scammers. People that live in Oslo, like me, hardly ever go there.

Royal Castle:

It's quite small compared to other royal castles because Norway was a poor country when it was built. But it's still a nice place to walk through on your way to Bogstadveien or to spend half an hour.

Akershus Castle:

This is a nice medieval castle at the center of Oslo, overlooking the Oslo fjord, and Aker brygge. Very nice for sunsets, and after a day in Oslo sentrum or Aker Brygge. There is also a free military museum and a cheap WWII resistance museum here.

Aker Brygge:

These are the Oslo docks which have been redeveloped into a posh private restaurant/bar/shopping area. Nice for a walk, and plenty of places to sit down and watch people or the magnificent view of Akershus Castle. There's also a modern art museum here if that's your thing. If you do go to the modern art museum, be sure go all the way to the top terrace, where you find an even better view of Aker Brygge, the fjord and Akershus Castle.

Museum Island/Peninsula (Bygdøy):

This is where most of the museums are, including the Viking Ship Museum, Kon Tiki, Maritime Museum, Folk Museum. But be aware that it takes a day, and it's quite a detour, there's not much else to do there. If I had to pick one, I would do the Viking Ship museum and maybe the adjacent Folk Museum.

Vigelandsparken/Frognerparken:

This sculpture park is very good, and very large. During summer this is a continuous party/BBQ, but in wintertime you will find mostly joggers and dog walkers. Do this park if naked stone people are your thing. Pro tip: The Oslo City museum is in the park, and its FREE!

Holmenkollen/Frognerseteren:

Holmenkollen is a giant ski-jump on a mountain overlooking Oslo. There is also the ski-museum and ski-stuff around here. Metro line 1 runs all the way to Frognerseteren and there is a cafe/restaurant close to the wilderness where you can overlook Oslo.

Ekebergåsen:

This is a lookout point close to Oslo, overlooking the city. If you are thinking of going to Frognerseteren for the view only, you should go here instead. Much closer to the city, so you get a better view and travel time is less, this is a nice spot to watch the sunset.

Some Pro Tips:

If you want to see the fjord for cheap, go to the beginning of Aker Brygge, and take the ferry (B10) to Nesodden and back again (don't get of). You will have a great view of Akershus Castle, Aker Brygge, numerous islands and the fjord.

The RuterReise app for live public transportation time tables or planning, or just use Google maps, there's another RuterBillett app for purchasing tickets with a credit card on your phone, but I think it's only in Norwegian. Then there is the website for trip planning.

Uber app, works quite well, and is half price of normal taxi

Oslo Travel guide - Norway Moments of Charm

Oslo Travel guide - Norway Moments of Charm

Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway, and the third largest city of Scandinavia. Oslo is also the demographic, economic and political center of Norway. The history of the city can be traced back over 1,000 years. Oslo was founded in 1048, by the king Harald Hardråde. Oslo, with its approximately 453 square kilometers, is one of the largest capitals in the world by area. Most of this is forest, making Oslo a city in close contact with the nature surrounding it.

Oslo is a modern and diverse city, and each of its boroughs bring something special to the table. All of them can be reached on foot, by public transportation or with a bicycle. Oslo is a great city for cycling, with modest distances between major hubs and attractions.

As far as shopping goes, the capital of Norway offers plenty to keep the keen shopper happy, with everything from the latest international trends to modern Norwegian designs and local handicrafts. The main shopping areas in Oslo are the city center around Karl Johans gate, Bogstadveien and Hegdehaugsveien in Majorstuen, Frogner with Bygdøy Allé, and Grünerløkka.

Get better aquainted in Oslo with a city sightseeing or a guided tour, like bus sightseeing, boat trips, guided walks, tours of the museums and much more. With the Oslo Pass you get free entry to more than 30 museums and attractions, free public transport, free parking in municipal car parks, and other great offers.

Following the latest reform of January 1, 2004, the city is divided into fifteen boroughs (bydeler) that are to a considerable extent self governed. Each borough is responsible for local services not overseen by the City Council, such as social services, basic healthcare, and kindergartens. For convenience, the city can be divided into six larger districts.

Sentrum (Sentrum) Central downtown area.
West (Bygdøy) The Museum Peninsula and the poshest area in Norway
Inner West (St. Hanshaugen, Frogner, Majorstua)
Inner East (Sagene, Grünerløkka, Gamle Oslo)
Outer West (Ullern, Holmenkollen, Vestre Aker, Nordre Aker)
Outer East (Alna, Bjerke, Grorud, Stovner, Nordstrand, Søndre Nordstrand, Østensjø)

Architecture in Oslo may at first seem dull. Unlike for instance its Swedish counterpart, Stockholm, downtown Oslo has only scattered monumental buildings where in particular the Parliament-Palace axis (upper part of Karl Johan Street) has a certain Parisian grandeur. The charm of Oslo can also be found in the affluent inner-city suburbs of for instance Frogner and Fagerborg as well as above St.Hanshaugen park. Northern Europe has a distinct wooden house tradition. Wooden houses are not allowed downtown, but these charming houses can be found in large numbers in villa suburbs such as Bygdøy and Holmenkollen, or former workers' areas such as Rodeløkka, Kampen, Vålerenga, Damstredet, Hellerud or Telthusbakken. Oslo also has many exciting building projects and a huge part of the city's waterfront will in a few years have changed.

Oslo Island Hopping: Hovedøya and Langøyene

The islands in the Oslo Fjord are easily reachable by ferry from Aker Brygge, in front of City Hall. In this video we visit two of the islands.

You pay for the ferry by using a regular public transportation ticket. If you already have a buss pass or Oslo Pass, you don't need to purchase an additional ticket.

The easiest way to purchase a public transportation ticket in Oslo is to use the Ruter Android or Iphone app:

However, only credit cards for certain countries are accepted. Check the section Overseas bank cards and phone numbers on the above webpage to see which countries this applies to.

Check for timetables in English.

Information from Visit Oslo is available at:

There are 11 large islands and a number of smaller islands in the inner Oslo Fjord. The most visited islands are Hovedøya, Gressholmen, and Langøyene.

Hovedøya is the largest and closest one to downtown Oslo. On Hovedøya there is at least one beach, and a number of flat rock (svaberg in Norwegian) swimming spots around the island. There is also at least one café and one restaurant on the island. The Revierhavnen Kro restaurant is located inside of the marina on the island, and you may need to reserve a table as the marina is normally not accessible to the public.

Langøyene is the large island that is the furthest away from Oslo. It has a long beach, and a large grass plain. This is the only island where overnight camping is allowed. Langøyene was originally two islands close together, but in the 40's and 50's, the sound between them was used as a landfill. Eventually the two islands got joined together into one big island by all the garbage. You should never drink the water from Langøyene because it is contaminated.

Gressholmen is an island in between the two others. It is often less crowded than the other major islands.

The ferry goes to other islands as well, but they have lots of vacation homes on them. Therefore, they are not that interesting to visit. These are Bleikøya,, Lindøya og Nakholmen.

To travel from Hovedøya to Langøyene and Gressholmen, you will have to go back to Aker Brygge to transfer to the other ferry route.

Get Ready to Save Big on Your Next Norwegian Ferry Trip

Ferries in Norway are quite common, especially if you are traveling along the west coast. And sometimes they simply cannot be avoided, since there is no other way.

But the use of ferry crossings creates many questions for road travelers. Since the prices for them are quite high, and payment is made automatically, which causes a lot of inconvenience and raises questions about how to pay them correctly and where the invoice will be sent.

In this video, we will focus on three important things you need to know about ferries in Norway in order to save money, hassle and time!

Norway travel guide

Hello my friends. In this video i will be walking from the Royal Palace / Slottplassen to Akerbrygge. Its a short walk for only 7min. Aker Brygge is a beautiful part of Oslo Norway centrum. Theres load of eating places here. Aker Brygge is known for its pier, where eateries with outdoor tables serve upscale Nordic and French cuisine, or casual fare like burgers and steak. A popular summer boat bar is moored nearby, and ferries depart year-round for the scenic Oslo Fjord.

Oslo, the capital of Norway, sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord. It’s known for its green spaces and museums. Many of these are on the Bygdøy Peninsula, including the waterside Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum, with Viking ships from the 9th century. The Holmenkollbakken is a ski-jumping hill with panoramic views of the fjord. It also has a ski museum.

Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colorful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort.

Oslo-Nesodden roundtrip in 30 seconds.

About 50 minutes of boat time compressed down to 30 seconds.

???????? Travel destination: Burudvann, Norway. Norwegian nature & wildlife. 24 km from Oslo.

Visit Norway!
Traveling in Norway in the summertime is probably the best time.
Do you miss the tranquility and want to relax in the wild nature? Norway is a perfect destination when it comes to an unspoiled and amazing environment. Norwegian landscapes are known in the whole world and many tourists come here to experience dramatic sceneries and take breathtaking photos.
You don't have to travel long from the city to be able to unbend. About 10 km from Oslo you can find a peaceful forest with many small lakes and beaches. Take a hike or just sit down and enjoy the beauty of wild animals. I was lucky to capture this duck herd at close range.
