You can visit Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, which is home to the Lady Knox Geyser, Champagne Pool, and many other geothermal wonders. You can also check out the Te Puia Geothermal Valley, which is home to the Pohutu Geyser and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute.

The city is often referred as an Art Deco Capital of the World, it is famous for the architecture: the city center has a huge number of Art Deco buildings. The city was completely destroyed in 1931 and had to be rebuilt, the Art Deco style was in fashion during the period of rebuilding.
