In this episode of Best of Naju, I explore the skate fish streets of Yeongsan-po, Naju, and learn some of the neighborhood's history.
Yeongsan-po (영산포) was one of three major ports of southwestern Korea in the 1910s, together with Mokpo and Gunsan because of the Yeongsan River (영산강).
Today this town is best known for fermented skate fish restaurants, the skate fish festival, yellow rapeseed flowers, local markets, and the Yeongsan River bike trails. It is located in Naju county, about 20 minutes from Bitgaram Naju Innocity and 40 minutes south of Gwangju city in Jeollanam-do province.

Best of Gwangju: My Top 10 Favorite Things to do in Gwangju, Korea (광주여행)
I consider Gwangju as my Korean hometown. It’s the first city where I spent most of the hot, humid summer of 2018 wandering and exploring when I first moved to South Korea.
Gwangju is the city where I bought my bicycle, my first hiking experience in Korea, where I partied with friends on the weekends, where I saw BTS, and it’s the first place where I started learning about Korea’s modern history.

Seeing the Korean-Peninsula shaped-land in Naju, Jeollanam-do (나주 느러지 전망대 전라남도) | rural Korea travel
This land looks like the Korean Peninsula, do you see it?
It has been a very rainy season here in South Korea, but I still adventured out to see the Korean Peninsula (한반도지형) shaped land and purple hydrangea flower path in a rural part of Naju, Jeollanam-do.
It's located on the border of Naju, Muan, and Hampyeong along the Yeongsan River. You can take the bus, ride your bicycle here; I recommend taking a car or cycling here.
There are two other popular locations similar to this one:
1) Okcheon, outside of Daejeon (충청북도 옥천군 든주봉)
2) Yeongwol, Gangwon-do (강원도 영월 한반도지형)

In this episode of Best of Naju, I wander around this filming site and find the best Instagram-worthy spots.
Naju Image Theme Park (나주영상테마파크) is one of the largest K-drama film sets in Jeollanam-do province. But it isn’t as popular as other film sites in Korea. It’s located around 3 hours south of Seoul and 45 minutes south of Gwangju city. You could take the train to 나주역 then the 105 bus (as of 2020).

It’s officially springtime in South Korea, but with COVID-19... it's time for a bike ride outside of Naju Innocity. I explored the Yeongsan-po area, which is known for the skate fish festival and 유채 yellow rapeseed flowers along the river.
Using the bicycle view on Kakao Maps, I was able to check off a few places on my Naju Tourism bucket list and see beautiful sceneries.

Day 1 travel vlog, cafes, & museums on Jeju Island, South Korea #jejudo
I finally took a trip to Jeju-do, known as the Hawaii of Korea! While it was raining for most of the trip, still was able to visit some cafes, museums, and restaurants! This is day 1 of my trip :)

Bamboo Forest + Things to do in Damyang 담양 | Travel Vlog in Korea
Despite the rainy forecast, we visited Damyang’s beautiful Bamboo Forest ????☔️
One of the most famous bamboo forests of Korea is located in Damyang (담양), a rural town in Jeollanam-do province (전라남도). If you have a chance to visit Damyang, be sure to also visit the French-inspired MetaProvence Village and Metasequoia Tree Path, and eat noodles next to the river. ???????? Bamboo Forest + Things to do in Damyang 담양 | Travel Vlog in Korea
Naju to Mokpo, a bike adventure in South Korea
Took some vacation days and decided to bicycle around the south western part of South Korea. The bike trail is well paved and maintained and runs all the way from Gwangju to Mokpo. Mokpo is an incredible city to visit and tour around. Tons of great food, museums, parks, and hikes. I highly recommend it!

Cherry blossom season is an enchanting time in Korea. The winter chill fades away and the country re-emerges in a display of beautiful colours and scents. Cherry blossom trees, known locally as beot-kkot (벗꽃), are found all over the country. They’re a symbol of spring and represent purity and beauty.
Cherry blossoms in Korea only stay in full bloom for one or two weeks, depending on the weather. They typically appear near the end of March and carry on into early April.
