The series titled “Alicante pueblo a pueblo/Alacant poble a poble,” produced by the Image and Promotion Area of the Alicante Deputation, has the objective of bringing awareness to each of the Alicante localities in an attractive or intimate form, reflecting their particularities.

Alcoy (in Valencian and co-officially, Alcoi ) is a municipality and a city located in the southeast of Spain , in the province of Alicante , Valencian Community . It is the capital of the Hoya de Alcoy region, within the Valles de Alcoy sub-region. It has 58 994 inhabitants. 3 It is one of the most important cities and the twelfth by population of the Valencian Community.
After the Roman conquest of the Iberians, several rural villas were built in the area, as well as a necropolis. The town was established in 1256 by James I of Aragon, with the construction of a castle on a strategic position over the Serpis rive, to secure the southern frontier of the Kingdom of Valencia during the Reconquista.
In 1291 the town was donated by King James II of Aragon to the Sicilian admiral Roger of Lauria; it will not return a royal possession until 1430.
During the War of Spanish Succession, Alcoi sided for the cause of archduke Charles, and was therefore besieged and stripped of numerous privileges, which started a period of decline.

It is one of the most important cities and the twelfth by population of the Valencian Community.Alcoy is a Mediterranean city in an attractive natural setting flanked by two nature reserves, the Serra de Mariola and Font Roja. It is located only 54 kilometres from Alicante and 105 from Valencia. It has an outstanding mediaeval and Modernist heritage, and its emblematic bridges.Plaza de España square is the heart of the city.
Places to visit in the mediaeval quarter include the old town hall, the Archaeology Museum, and the Museum of the Moors and Christians festival.The town's appearance today directly recalls the pioneering city of the Spanish Industrial Revolution whose artistic heritage has been included on the European Modernist Route.
Visitors should not leave the city without sampling its delicious gastronomy: bajoques farcides, borreta, olleta alcoyana and pericana, in addition to its famous peladillas, torrats, pinyonets, sugared walnuts and pasteles de carne y gloria, herbero, coffee liqueur, picadetes and small plates of appetisers.
The area around Alcoy offers the opportunity for excursions along the cycling route known as the Vía Verde (green route), the Barranc del Cint, El Salt, Els Canalons and Racó Sant Bonaventura, all ideal for adventure sports.Tradition dictates that based on the historical facts of 1276, on 22, 23 and 24 April Alcoy celebrates its Moors and Christians festival in honour of its patron saint San Jorge.

I went to Alicante myself and had a look. With 10k you can buy a flat that is ready to walk in and perfect for your holidays. These flats from the 60s, 70s, and 80 are often quite large and can host a whole family comfortably. They also are the perfect investment if you are thinking of starting your short-lets business. Even if you opt for long term lets the rental yield is still over 10%. Living costs in Alicante are low: a white coffee in bar is a pound; a bottle of vodka at the supermarket is a fiver. Alcoy is a large Spanish town located inland from the coastal resorts on the Northern Costa Blanca and is also known as and referred to as Alcoi.
This attractive city is situated at the foot of Serra Mariola and the Font Roja natural park.
Alcoy means city of bridges because of the many bridges built because Alcoy is surrounded by the Molinar, Serpis and Barxell rivers.
Many expats have moved here to settle in the town and have done much to contribute to the town's economic well being.
Alcoy is located approximately an hour away by car from the popular tourist resorts of Javea, Denia and Moraira.
Locals, expats and holidaymakers who wish to book flights to the nearest airport usually choose Alicante Airport as it is the closest or Valencia Airport to fly into.
Alcoy is a very old city dating back to several thousands of years and has played an important role through the ages as can be seen when doing a sightseeing tour.

¡Hey! ¿Qué mundos? En este vídeo te presentamos uno de los rasgos más característicos del urbanismo de Alcoy, un municipio situado en la provincia de Alicante, perteneciente a la comarca de la Hoya de Alcoy y es una de las ciudad más importantes de la Comunidad Valenciana.
El lugar adquiere especial relevancia tras la Revolución Industrial en España, de hecho tiene muchísimas fábricas téxtiles, MUCHISIMAS; y también metalúrgicas y de la industria papelera. Y si, se la conoce como la ciudad de los puentes ya que tiene un montón de ellos para salvar los barrancos que forman parte de la orografía de este particular lugar.
Literalmente si te fijas parece que la ciudad está compuesta por escalones, es una pasada. Tiene una gastronomía también muy marcada y es especialmente famoso por su fiesta de los Moros y Cristianos.

The series entitled Alicante, town by town is being produced by the Image and Promotional Department of the Provincial Institution with the objective to make each of the Alicante’s localities known in an attractive and intimate way, reflecting its landscape, historical, cultural and urbanistic peculiarities.
