Tashkent: The Most Underrated City in Central Asia [Uzbekistan 2024]

*CHEAPEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD*

Are you planning to visit Uzbekistan soon?

There are five main touristic cities in Uzbekistan: Tashkent (Capital city), Samarkand (capital of ancient Silk Route), Bukhara, Khiva and the Fergana valley.

*Our Samarkand Video* -

In this video, we have shared the best and top 10 tourist destinations in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan.

*Minor Mosque*
This is the latest tourist destination of Tashkent, which opened recently in 2014. It's white marble exterior is a spectacular sight.

*Tashkent TV Tower*
This is the 12th tallest TV tower in the world, with 375 meter height. You can go on top of it. The entry fee is 40,000 Soms (approx $4). The panoramic view from the top is amazing! You can even dine in at a revolving restaurant on the 8th floor.

*Amir Temur Square*
It is located in exact center of the Tashkent city and is the favorite park of locals. It has lush greenery and many fountains. There is a big sculpture of Amir Temur, the founder of Temurlane dynasty. It is surrounded by other prominent destinations like the *Uzbekistan Hotel*, *Amir Temur Museum*, and the *Forums Palace*.

*Chorsu Bazaar*
This local bazaar, which is hundreds of years old, still functions in the same manner as it used to during the Silk Route trade. You can find Uzbek dishes, souvenirs, meat, and dried fruits here.

*Magic City Park*
It is an enchanting amusement park offering many rides, games, and entertainment for visitors of all ages. It has mini replicas of world famous monuments from London, Barcelona, etc. You can also see a very good fountain show here.

*Chimgan Mountains*

*Charvak Lake*
This lake is so beautiful. It is 20 minutes' ride away from the Cable Car Ride point. You can even do paragliding here.

*Tashkent City Park*

Sultan Saodat Ensemble, Termez (12-15 centuries)

The cult-memorial complex of Sultan Saodat, Termez.

Sultan Saodat Ensemble (12-15th centuries) – A memorial complex of mausoleums and mosques built over a long period of time, Sultan Saodat holds the graves of the great Sayyid dynasty of Termez.

The most ancient part was a three-part frontal opening the southwest part of the complex to the courtyard side. Here are located two large one- chambered, square-domed mausoleums.

The magnificent ensemble was distinguished for its ancient group of mausoleums, homogenous in composition and decor though built in different style.

The architectural marvel known as the Hazrati Imam complex, alternatively referred to as Hastimom or Hastim, spans from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Situated in the Olmazor district of Tashkent city, Uzbekistan, this complex comprises notable structures such as the Moʻyi Muborak madrasa, the Qaffol Shoshi mausoleum, the Baroqxon Madrasa, the Hazrati Imam mosque, the Tillashayx mosque, and the Imam al-Bukhari Islamic Institute. Its establishment near the burial site of Hazrati Imam, Tashkent's inaugural imam-khatib, a learned scholar, one of the city's initial Islamic preachers, and a skilled poet and artist, adds historical significance.

Historical records reveal that Hazrati Imam, besides his religious contributions, earned the moniker Qaffol due to his expertise in crafting locks and keys. Remarkably, he was proficient in 72 languages and translated the Old Testament (Torah) into Arabic.

Presently situated in the Old City sector of Tashkent, the Hazrati Imam complex withstood the formidable earthquake of 1966. In 2007, the Hazrati Imam (Hastimom) public association was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov. This initiative led to extensive construction and renovation efforts aimed at restoring the original historical charm of the Hazrati Imam complex.

Eid day in Tashkent | EP-10 | How I Spent My Last Day in Uzbekistan

Eid day in Tashkent | EP-10 | How I Spent My Last Day in Uzbekistan
In this vlog, I will explain the Eid day which I spent in Tashkent. In addition, it was my last day in Uzbekistan before I headed to Tajikistan.
As I already visited Tashkent on my arrival in Uzbekistan, the Eid day was very relaxing for me. I wandered into the city as per time which was a great one on Eid day. First of all, I went to the Fly Dubai office to get an alternative to my canceled flight. Sadly, it was closed. Besides, the Plav center and Amir Temur Museum were also closed. However, I spent a few hours in the park beside the memorial of the Victims of repression. Later on, I went to Broadway Boulevard in Tashkent to see the hustle and bustle of the lively street. At the end of the day, I spent a chitchat session with Mr. Sardar(Uzbekistan) and Mr. Ferdoss(Afghanistan)
How to Get Around Tashkent
In Tashkent, you have a lot of options like Metro, Buses, Marshrutkas, mini Buses, Shared Taxis, and Yandex taxis. Google map is your best companion to show you the exact route with available transfers and estimated travel fares. Bus/ metro fare for one visit is 1400 Som(15cents). There are metro stations near all the must-see places
Visited places for this day were
• Alisher Navoi Park
• Tashkent Pilav center
• Memorial of the Victims of repression
• Tashkent TV Tower
• Amir Temur Museum
• Broadway Boulevard

Amir Temur Museum

This Museum is dedicated to Amir Temur and shows the history related to him. There are more than 5,000 artifacts in the museum collection, with more than 2,000 displayed in museum exhibition halls. In particular, the museum displays focus on the genealogy of Amir Temur, his coming to power, and the military campaigns of the Timurid Dynasty.

The Tashkent TV Tower

With its 375 meters in height, it is the 11th tallest tower in the world. You can take the elevator to the 6th floor and enjoy the panoramic views over the city from the observation deck.

Broadway Boulevard

A street from Amir Temur square to Independence square is a very popular place for the locals to enjoy time with their friends and families. It’s particularly nice to walk there during the early evening when Broadway Boulevard is illuminated by all kinds of lights.

MEMORIAL TO THE VICTIMS OF REPRESSION

Just on the opposite side of the TV tower, you can find a beautiful green park. The Chirchiq river flows beside the park. Here you can visit the memorial and museum that is dedicated to the people who fought for the independence of Uzbekistan during the Soviet Union time and who were killed by the government.

ALISHER NAVOI NATIONAL PARK

We visited Alisher Navoi park some other day. It has a beautiful palace, a couple of beautiful monuments, the Uzbek highest flagpole, and an I Love Uzbekistan signboard for your selfies.

Abdulkasim Madrasah in Tashkent, a historical monument, center for shopping Applied Arts

The Abdulkasym Madrassah, located near the Istiqlol Palace next to the monument to the poet Alisher Navoi, can satisfy your need to explore - with a little bit of shopping thrown in. Abdulkasym Madrassah is one of the newer architectural treasures in comparison with the Barakhan and Kukeldash Madrassahs.
The architectural Monument of Madrassah Abdulkasym was built in 1850, with money donated by Tashkent noble man Abdulkasym, who lived during the 19th c. in Tashkent. This building was originally used as an Islamic college.
The yard of the Madrassah had an indoor water-pool with a cupola in the shape of a dome or sardoba. When entering the Madrassah to the left there was a classroom, to the right - a mosque, and in the inner courtyard was located the Honakoyi Muyi Muborak.
