418 | My WORSE NIGHTMARE Paragliding!! Crash Landing! (Spain Travel VLOG)
1 January 2022 - Paragliding Tenerife | 418
Day 17: It is the first day of 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ and we wake up on a beautiful, warm sunny day here on the island of Tenerife! ☀️???? Plenty of things to do I hadn’t really planned or booked anything so we head to the tourist centre to try out luck with some paragliding. Unfortunate it seems all the pilots were off for the day. ????
A few hours later I was woken up by a call that some pilots were in for the afternoon!! All of a sudden we are headed up the volcano for the afternoon to have a look at this island from the sky. ???????? After an hour windy drive up the volcano island we ascend from sea level to above 2000m which is where we will take off! Just imagine basically jumping off the highest point of Australia and paragliding down all the way to the beach. It is the highest paragliding point in the world!
A bit of a rough start it took 3 goes to take off properly, with the second attempt being a quite a fail as there wasn’t enough wind to pick us up before we crashed into the shrub ahead. ???? The end of the flight also didn’t get better as we crash landed straight on top of boulders and busted my leg, rather than a soft landing on the sandy beach. ????????It was quite a scary feeling like being catapulted straight into rocks where there was nothing you can do but just absorbed all the impact with your leg. It was quite a shame as the ride itself was spectacular and breathtaking. The sun was setting behind Mt. Teide and gave a sunset hue over the entire town. ????????
We spent the rest of the night going to 3 different hospitals where I was wheelchaired through for an x-ray and doctors consult in the middle of the night. ???? Thankfully no broken bones and just a swollen foot, ankle and knee. We finally get home just after 2am to end a long ass day for some much needed rest.
What a way to start 2022!! ????

Hike Moron to Montellano
While deployed to Moron AB, Spain, the three of us got together for a hike from the air base to a town about 15 miles away called Montellano. We were traveling by line of site guided by a mountain named after the city, or vice versa. Halfway into the hike a horrendous overcast rolled in, and without a GPS signal we pretty much walked in circles. The good thing is we somehow made it to our destination.
