La Cuchilla de San Lorenzo located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a wonderful place for bird watching in Colombia at 2,600 meters above sea level, due most of the endemic species of the region are concentrated there and it is a very accessible place in the middle of the main mountain range of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
In the Cuchilla de San Lorenzo you can see a great variety of hummingbirds such as the White-tailed Starfrontlet, Green Violetear, Brown Violetear, Sparkling Violetear, Violet-crowned Woodnymph, Tyrian Metaltail, Long-billed Hermit, Lazuline Sabrewing, and the Santa Marta Woodstar. Other endemic bird species such as the Santa Marta Brush-Finch and the Black-fronted Wood-Quail can be seen.
Apart from the great variety of birds that can be seen in this sector of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, you can go hiking and do other adventure activities. Definitely a place you must visit when you come to Colombia.
